Finishing, Akhetnnami stood, taking her dish over to a basin of water. "We leave in half an hour. Finish, get ready in any way you need, and then come meet me by the entrance." The cold woman headed for another room without a word.
She was almost worst than Aubri! In place of sarcasm was an unbreakable coldness.
The house was very sparse, as Shandar may have noticed. A few interesting things, however, were scattered on shelves or walls throughout. Here and there were decorative fans, small paintings, perhaps an elegant doll or sculpture. Something to prove that maybe, just maybe, Akhetnnami wasn't the rock she seemed to be. Nice little "human" touches.
No robots here!
... probably.

Half an hour? Was the woman crazy. That was barely enough time for him to preen an inch of his fur, let alone all of it. Watching her head out Shandar shot the door a wicked glare and trotted off to attempt to salvage some kind of appearence in half an hour.
As he walked back to his 'room" He randomly eyed the artifacts that lay around. Interesting, very interesting. He thought to himself. Now, however there was not the time to look. He had more important things to take care of.
With no idea of the time he started to preen and clean his fur, fully intending to push half an hour as far as he could.

Akhetnnami didn't bother saying anything to the little vain kitten. Forty minutes had already passed, and Shandar hadn't looked up once to check the time in some way.
So the council member, with all her dignity, walked in and picked him up.
"Time to go," she said, feigning cheerfulness (and not doing a very good job at it).

Shandar glared as he was picked up by the woman, he wasn't even close to being finished. With a scowl plastered across his face he contemplated wriggling out of her grasp. He changed his mind when he realised that it would mess up his fur.
Sneering he remained silent and waited for her to take him where ever she was so intent on going.

Once they were outside the house, Akhetnnami shut the door and set him down on the paved path.
"Now, we walk to the marketplace. If you're afraid that it will muss your fur, do let me know - I can carry you by the scruff of your neck all the way there." Apparently, the 40-minute grooming spree hadn't pleased her.
"Other than that, come along - we go to the apothecary first."

Shandar said nothing, he merely glared and shook his coat out. His scowl now firmly fixed on his face he followed her glancing around at the new sights and smells.
