laughing pixie Yes, you need an apostrophe. Let's go is actually a shortened version of let us go. It's not a request or a demand as in, "Let us go, evildoer!" It's just a suggestion. xD But we've shortened it to let's because let us go to the park is just a little too froofy sometimes. Thank You. Can you also give the example where it is not required for the apostrophe? Or does that particular case not exist except in idiotese? (And thanks for not jumping down my throat for a necro, rip me up on grammar in this one! )

I was missing from Gaia for a long time.)
The only situation that would make "lets go" acceptable without an apostrophe is one where you actually mean "lets" instead of "let us."
The boy lets go of the balloon.
If you used "let's" in this sentence it'd just be silly.
The boy let's go of the balloon = The boy let us go of the balloon.
When you're confused about whether or not to use an apostrophe, always look at your choices and think about what letters the apostrophe is standing in for, and how the sentence would look if those letters were there.

You use an apostrophe for contractions as well as to show possession. The oddball exception to this rule is it's/its. It's is a contraction of it is. Its is the possessive.

digital dark signer I'm a new roleplayer looking to get into a literate roleplay so could you help me please. Are you asking in terms of improving your grammar and spelling or are you just asking in general to get attention? If it's the latter then you're posting in the wrong place. Please be more specific.
