Role-play Ranks:

Role-play ranks are given to every member, and are a direct expression of their effectiveness as RP'ers. Literacy level (proper use of spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence composition, writing flow and enjoyability, ect.) and RP skill (character consistency and believability, visual and sensory detail, plot/story advancement, realism, ect.) are the two components that make an effective RP'er. When a member is ranked, their RPing is evaluated by literacy level and RP skill. Depending on how effective a member is at displaying both within their RPing is how we decide their rank.

There are five ranks in total, from the absolutely horrible, moderately good, and extremely awesome. RP rank isn't set in stone; there are several ways to improve your rank, but it falls back to how effective you are as a RP'er. The more effective you are, the higher your rank can go.

Following are the five ranks in descending order (least to most effective), with a small blurb about the details of each rank. Provided with each rank is a list of members who hold the rank they're listed in. For a closer look at the role-player type associated with each rank, take a visit to the Role-player Types thread.

E Rank
Illiterate role-players

Literacy level: 1/10
RP skill: 1-2/10

E Rank members are the worst you'll find in the GML. Most don't even role-play properly, using asterisks for actions with no quotations around what they say, and forget about putting it all together in a paragraph. They role-play like they're in the chatter box. Crippling Literacy level and RP skill.

D Rank
Semi-literate role-players

Literacy level: 2-3/10
RP skill: 3-4/10

Ahh, here we are. Actual role-players. Not always good role-players, per se, but most D Rank role-players at least know how to role-play effectively on a basic level. Emphasis on basic.

C Rank
Literate role-players

Literacy level: 4-6/10
RP skill: 5-7/10

Alright! Now we're talking. C Ranked are like the 'average joe' role-players, well rounded in their abilities and faults, and usually a pleasure to RP with from all the different ranks.

B Rank
Advanced-literate role-players

Literacy level: 6-8/10
RP skill: 7-8/10

B Rank, one away from the top of the chain. Excellent Literacy skill, and near-exceptional RP skill, but it doesn't come without practice, practice, practice. B Rank role-players are dedicated to the craft, and it shows in their work.

A Rank
Elite role-players

Literacy level: 9-10/10
RP skill: 8-10/10

A Rank. Elites. My god; are they good? No, they're extraordinary. Flawless literacy, and mastered RP skill. They're the role-players that have near-perfected role-playing.
