A little more than ordinary honorary, underestimated, leavin' all you broke I'm the judge and jury, I don't wanna hear it, I'm the one they fearin', keep it on the low This is automated, I'm the motivator, told my haters, "Yo, more the merrier" Y'all my entertainment fascinated, I'm just laughin' 'cause it's so hilarious ¸.•*xᕼᥙƒƒꙆᥱρᥙƒƒ Sᥱᥴoᥒᑯ Ƴᥱᥲɾx¨*•.¸♪¸ xᙅᥱᥒtᥱɾ ᙅᖾɩꙆᑯx.•*¨*•.¸ xᕼoᑲᑲɩt Ꙇᥒtᥱɾᥒx♥¸.•*¨*•.¸ (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ Rosa thought the summer had flown by much too fast. Between gamin tournaments, hanging out with Wren, slowly attempting to get closer to her new cousins (Bryn was so CUTE which was why it SUCKED that he was afraid of her) as well as the big family vacation. Disney was awesome! Her favorites were a toss up between Marvel world and Star Wars..land? Area? It was weird with the naming but whatever, it was all great! Which of course meant that when it was time for them to go back to school, she was once again in the extremely sucky position of saying goodbye to her family and sitting on a horrendously long train ride. It wasn't so so bad since it was mainly with Mea and Rey as Lewis and Su had prefect duties and only really popped their heads in or delivered sweets on occasion.
When they arrived at Hogsmeade though was when things took a bit of a turn; apparently both Rey and Mea could see whatever was pulling the carriages (which, honestly ruined the whole thing since she thought it'd been magic but no just animal labor, bruh) and were freaked out by it. Rosa wanted to ask more about it but Su had gently warned her against it and decided to ride with them to offer any comfort or distraction they could. Rey even said a sorta pretty...poem? Prayer? Whatever it was, she recognized their names and it made her feel better so she made sure to pay attention to potentially remember it for next time. They all arrived at the castle in one piece thankfully and walked like a gaggle of bees to their table to await the sorting.
Rosa watched as the siblings did their own tasks at handling the sound and paid minimal attention to the Professor's speech and tried not to think of how hungry she was. She was broken out these thoughts by Mea's tapping and asking if she could let him know when to turn his ears back on as well as asking if Lewis would be sitting with them again. She also saw him ask his sister if he even knew where the giant was as he hadn't been there even at the station. She nodded in agreement with the redhead's observation and tapped the boy to answer.
"Can do! Also, I think Rey's right; he's probably just busy being all responsible and junk. It's not like he's easy to hide." the preteen snickered.
Little girl with a big mouth, uh, small group with a big house, yeah Big watch on the wrist now, uh, I just thought of that flow now, just now Put a little more down for the buss down, went on tour on a bus and tore the bus down Everythin' custom now, fans rushin' out, security had to push me out

Mea was disappointed when first Rey, then Rosa, agreed that they had no idea where Lewis had gone. Mam told them to stick together! What if he got eaten by one of those carriage monsters! He very carefully stood up, looking around before sighing heavily. He reached up and clicked his ears on their lowest volume, making a scrunched up face at the sudden noise. "He is over with the first years. Doing signing, like with me last year. It's so loud in here!" Unfortunately, his voice was a bit louder than the others, but he didn't notice his eldest cousin pop up like a meerkat to try and find who said his name. Mea shook his head as he just fully disconnected his ears. Once they were off, he stubbornly shoved them in his pocket.
Lewis would probably sigh at him (and more probably send a letter home to Mum and Mam about it), but the Great Hall was so loud. Mea had done the same at Disney, but he got in trouble because he almost lost one of the hearing aids. Thank goodness Uncle Dris was behind them and spotted it before it got lost! But still, he got a tsk-tsk lecture about how important it was to keep them safe. Mea leaned against his cousin, offering a frown. "I don't know why they won't feed us and just have the food up the whole time. Why do we need to listen to a million speeches about the rules before supper?" His hands moved quickly, but his normal little grin was also showing on his face. Maybe he just needed to get his complaining all out.... or maybe he needed dinner. Probably that one.

As he lifted the brim of the hat, he watched in fascination as his robes turned colors to the Hufflepuff yellow and very politely handed the hat back to the professor before walking directly to the Ravenclaw table. His older sister looked at him in resigned amusement and stood from the table before he could get closer.
"Uhuh, you have to sit with your new house the first night. Those are the rules." Preeti gave consoling pats on top of the younger's head causing him to sigh and pout but dutifully followed her as she lead him over to the Hufflepuff table. "Don't worry, you'll be fine! I know a guy, he's got you covered." Addy was now sufficiently worried but sat at the table nonetheless. He gave a small wave to Preeti as she walked back to her own house table then immediately focused on the empty plate in front of him. He really hoped they served dinner soon. [color#8878C3]"Typi

════════════════════════ Charlotte adjusted her prefect badge for what was probably the fifteenth time that day. She was a bit…obsessed. It was little in the grand scheme of things, but she couldn’t have been prouder. Upon entering the Great Hall with Noah she sat down toward the end of the Hufflepuff table where she was sure she’d have a good vantage point of all of her housemates. She also sat with her back just a little too straight. She wasn’t positive but she thought she heard Noah mutter something about straining a muscle. She did however relax the smallest hint when the first years arrived and gave a big wave to Amelia.
Charlotte was thrilled that Amelia had come to Hogwarts this year. She was already positive Amelia was going to be in Hufflepuff, so when the sorting happened and her thoughts were confirmed, she wasn’t the least bit surprised. Amelia made a beeline for Charlotte and Noah who both greeted her with high-fives. The rest of the sorting went rather quickly. Amelia was piping up every so often with a question about Hogwarts or just magic in general but as soon as the sorting finished and the feast appeared she was quiet again. The girl loved food.
Charlotte helped herself to a little bit of everything, though she kept her eyes and ears open in case a prefect was needed. (As though there weren’t plenty of options for help in the room besides that fifteen-year-old). Eventually, the sounds of the feast began to wind down and the empty dishes began to disappear into the kitchens. When the Headmaster officially ended the feat and dismissed everyone back to their common rooms Charlotte stood up.
“Alright, First Years! If you’ll follow me, I’ll lead you down to the common room. Everyone stay close.”

Meallan was a little bit worried about going to school. Not for the grades or anything, but because he was still fairly fresh off a major surgery. They had gotten his new ears set up, and sound was way more intense than previous. He could sit outside and hear birds and bugs, which had always just been messy noise before. He was surprised to catch smaller tones in the voices of his family members, things he certainly would have missed before. They also went to a lady who specialized in making muggle medical tech work in the magical world.
While they worked in Diagon, the real test would be Hogwarts. The concentration of magic there had caused his ears to go screwy more than once, and he was nervous the new ones would do the same. He bid his parents (and aunt and uncle, and Lewis, and Su, and Sierra) a teary goodbye, then hopped on the train. The prefect meeting was surprisingly fun, especially led by Alice, who was full of way too much energy. As he did rounds with Rey, he stopped in to say hi to Bryn, Rosa, and Wen, plus all his friends. It was pretty nice to be able to talk to them without feeling like his brain was going to explode.
After the train came the Hogsmeade platform, and Mea was surprised that the audio adjusted by itself. These new ears were crazy! He went to the school with his family, though he tried to avoid looking at the Thestrals. Then it was time for the big test. Drawing in a breath to calm his brain, Meallan stepped into the Great Hall. Everything still worked! He could hear! The magic worked! He grinned over at Rey and Rosa, cheering a bit as he walked with them over to the Hufflepuff table. He'd be able to hear sorting, and he could even use the remote to help navigate the sound. It was crazy to think that only a few months ago, sound was crippling to him.
"I think this is going to be a really great year."

This was quite the day. Luke wasn’t sure he’d really had the chance to process the whole moving to another country thing. He was more or less enjoying himself, but Hogwarts was certainly a lot different than Salem. And Britain was a whole lot different than America. It was fairly small things, people's general demeanor, the sense of humor, things like that. The most horrendous was what these people qualified as salsa. He'd ordered some a few weeks ago at a pub, and they had brought out ketchup with diced onions thrown on top. He figured it'd probably be a while before he got good Mexican food again. Amelia had assured him the food at Hogwarts was good, so hopefully that at least meant palatable for him.
He followed his new friend to the Hufflepuff table, thankful he'd been placed in the same house as Amelia. It helped to have her show him the ropes a little more than he probably could have managed in another house. They sat next to each other at the table, and little Miss Molly curled up at Amelia's feet. 'Little' really wasn't an appropriate word to call Amelia's service dog, considering she was nearly as big as her handler, but she was such a sweetheart that it just felt right.
"So," Luke began, striking up a conversation, "sentient hat, huh?" The sorting had begun and he was keeping one ear out for his sister's name to be called.

Amelia made her way to the Great Hall with Luke at her side. Molly walked alongside them. She was doing perfectly, just sniffing a bit more than usual. Amelia wondered if dogs understood magic, or if this was all confusing to her. Maybe she didn't even notice. They entered the Great Hall, and Amelia led Luke to the Hufflepuff table, making sure he had a space next to her. She was supposed to be the one taking care of him, but having him close to her sort of felt like having a bodyguard, and she was thoroughly enjoying it.
When Luke spoke up, she couldn't help but laugh slightly. "More or less. It originally belonged to Godric Gryffindor as just...a hat. The founders enchanted it to sort students after they were gone. It's a legilimens basically." It sounded so much weirder when it was described out loud. Every year, a bunch of eleven-year-olds put on a sentient mind-reading hat and just...abided by its decision for the next seven years. She moved her attention to the sorting for a moment, watching the display of exactly what she was describing. When Lylah's name was called, Amelia smiled. She'd hoped she'd be happy with however this turned out. When Ravenclaw was called she turned to Luke. "Ooh, that's a good house. Noah's fiance was a Ravenclaw. I think it'll be good for her."

Racheal 'Rey' Eir Ross-Heulwen Hufflepuff │ Fifth Year │ Fifteen Years Old │ Hufflepuff Prefect | Single
Rey was excited to be back at school after spending much of the summer at home and having Mea’s surgery hanging over her. She was grateful it all worked out, and now Mea could hear better than he could with his previous implants, and they seemed to operate even in the magic-heavy environment of the Hogwarts Express and the castle. The little redhead spent much of her time unable to see her boyfriend, as Finn took an internship with his Aunt Lynn, and they were involved in a major archeological project outside Sekhara. The practical experience accrued would be put towards the Cursebreaking classes he needed to take so he could take the NEWT and graduate as scheduled next year. That said, they went to the Art and Music Festival in Waterford as a couple, and she had backstage passes to hang with the Causeway Hares and the Mad Rabbits.
Last Spring, she agreed to co-captain the Culinary Club with Alice, and she was eager to see the club open this year. She had a list of ideas for things to do that she thought would be fun. What was even better was when the Prefect badge came with her supplies list. Mea got one as well, and she was certain what got them the nod from Professor Clarke was how they lobbied for clemency for their little brother, who’d been bullied all year and finally took a stand on his own behalf. The matter was a sore point for her; she was sure she and Mea could handle things without needing assistance from Lewis, and it took Mama and Nani to convince her it wasn’t a reflection of her abilities or that she wasn’t a good enough big sister.
‘From today, I can be the big sister to the younger Badgers,’ thought Rey, as she sat at the Hufflepuff Table, ready to welcome the newest to the fold, and likely take them down to the Common Room after dinner. She wanted to look more like an adult (like a prefect), so she plumped for a black sweater corset-vest she scored at a sale at Cloak & Coven, to which her shiny new Prefect badge was attached, a bright white dress blouse with full, puffed sleeves, and her House tie, paired with a long black and yellow tartan skirt with a silver kilt pin, and a pair of wedge-heeled black leather shoes. Her long red curls were pulled back into a ridiculously poofy ponytail and tied with yellow and black hair ribbons and a Montrose Magpies charm.
Rey was trying hard not to obsess over her impending examinations, but OWLs were hard to dismiss. She already started working on them, as she knew what she needed to score to earn a spot among Marni’s Chosen, and set her career plans on course. She found herself using her older cousin, Lewis, as a benchmark to set her own achievements against. Granted, she could never go three years on the pitch as Captain and never lose; she doubted she was being considered as a Vice-Captain candidate; however, Rey was determined to equal or exceed his academic accomplishments, and maybe even make Head Student someday. As much as anything else, she wanted Mama and Nani to be proud of her.
Leaning in close, she said to Mea, “I think so, too. What are looking forward to most?”

We're moving forward with maximum power And we're gonna dominate, pop it So sick, we're the big news topic Exp from all of my trophies No one, nobody can stop me Their hate is the fuel when I'm launching ¸.•*xᕼᥙƒƒꙆᥱρᥙƒƒ ᖴɩƒtᖾ Ƴᥱᥲɾx¨*•.¸♪¸ xᙅᥱᥒtᥱɾ ᙅᖾɩꙆᑯx.•*¨*•.¸ xᗣɾt ᙅꙆᥙᑲ ᙅᥲρtᥲɩᥒx♥¸.•*¨*•.¸ (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ Rosa had admittedly been a tiny bit bummed that she'd been passed over for prefect (even though at the same time she was super happy for Mea and Rey). But after talking it over with her mum and even Su for a bit, she realized it was most definitely for the best. Not because she couldn't hack it-she'd be awesome if she did say so herself-but man, the commitment! And then she wasn't taking into consideration she's still in charge of art club, she's got articles to write for the paper, and she was even going to try her hand as a DM this year for the guild this year. And then that was without even stating her commitment to the drama club as well! Good grief, how the hell did Lewis and Su not combust over the years?!
So her main priority (amongst her other main priorities) was going to be to keep an eye out for any strain she saw on her friends and cousins and try to be there for them in any way. If that means staying up late with them and studying or making a map of all the snogging locations (listen, it's not her fault people come to her with gossip and assume she's never going to use it), the teen was going to help any way she could.
Starting with making sure Mea was actually alright with his new hearing aides. Rosa had of course been worried during the summer when he'd gone in for what was virtually brain surgery to get better implants, but so far her friend had seemed to be handling it pretty well. The real test of course being Hogwarts so she'd been crossing all her fingers and toes (if she tripped a little that was no ones business) as they approached the castle. But seeing Mea's beaming face told her everything she needed to know and she cheered along with him as all three of them were lead over to their house table. When he stated that this year was going to be great, Rosa nodded along and hummed in thought as Rey asked him what they were looking forward to most. Definitely not their OWL's, bleh.
"I'm actually looking forward to Transfiguration this year. If I do really well on my tests, the professor said I could apply for the animagus class in a few years." Rosa cautiously admitted. Transfiguration had been one of the classes the teen had most been afraid of when starting due to her number form synesthesia. Regular math had been hard to figure out but adding magic to it almost had her asking to just write the class off all together. But she'd been hilariously surprised by how much sense the calculations were when pared with her number sequences. It was like adding magic had been what'd been missing the entire time!

It was still absolutely insane to Mea that he could pick out so many sounds. Despite his dad giving him the gift of hearing, these new ears were so much better! And he was tucked in next to his sister and his cousin, which made things better. Sure, he wished that Bryn and Wen were able to sit closer, but he was happy there was family nearby. When he noticed Rey talking, he hit one of the remote buttons on his new ears for focused listening, which honed in on her words. This was insane! She asked what he was looking forward to the most, and Rosa answered, saying she was excited for Transfiguration. She'd been hoping to join the animagus class next year, so that made sense. "I'm excited for clubs. I'm really hoping to get captain of Herbology Club next year. But also I'm old enough to help out in Healthy Haunts this year."
He nodded as he spoke, thinking he ought to talk to Lyric about that. And maybe Alice too. He ran a hand through the shaggy part of his hair, just happy to be here.... and not it crippling pain. Now that it was all over, he realized it was pretty dumb of him to have kept it under wraps. "But also we have OWLs this year, so we'll have to work together to make sure we all pass. We all have strong classes and weak classes, but if we study in a group, everything's covered." He grinned, glad that they were all super close. They could totally work together without any grumping, and maybe they could use Lewis, Su, and Sierra's fifth year notes to make a super-study binder!
