Quickly letting the Avatar go again thanks to the water sheild she had put up again, Coral stumbled back and watched as the Avatars eyes began to glow. Both her and her brother stared in shock and confusion. What was going on? Was she okay? Then the spasms came along. "CONNAN!" She yelled at her brother as she ran over to the Avatar. "We have to do something!" Tears in her eyes, she looked back at her brother.

Having no clue what to do, he frantically looked around. "Augh!" If only Coral had learned some of the relaxing things that the air benders could do to relax another humans body. "Okay, okay." With a few problems, he picked the Avatar up and ran over to a nearby stream. Hoping that the slow flow of the water would help calm her down. She was the Avatar, any ways to relax the body would work, but water was her specialty, so maybe this would work better. Setting her down back towards the ground, he held her as the water began to run past her in a gentle, relaxing way.

Coral stood out of the water, hands to her face, worry and tension covered her face.

Mort walked around and made a small fireball in her hand and threw it at a tree which engulfed in flames. She took the fire back away from the tree and sighed, sitting under it.

"W-We don't know." Coral piped in, uncovering her hands from her mouth just for that one small sentence.

"Maybe you over exerted yourself." She had begun to freak out, causing her powers to over take her. She needed training. Deep, wise, training. He couldn't look to his sister for it, maybe the master in their village would help. "For right now, just try and stay calm." Keeping her in the water for a little bit longer, he looked at her sadly. "You need to trust us, if we were here to kill you, we would have let you die back there." His eyes were stern, but showed deep care. "Trust us."

"Please?" Coral squeaked.

Mort heard voices nearby and poked her head out from behind the tree and looked down at the girl in the water. "It can't be." She whispered and hid back behind the tree. "That's who they're after?"

"I-I trust you." She knew if they had been sent to kill her, that would havebeen the perfect time. She started weighing her options. "where did you say you could take me?"

"YAY!" Coral squealed, quickly jumping up into the air she landed safely onto an air ball. "WHEE!!" She yelled going around and around in circles around the area that they were in.

Connan let out a very frustrated sigh. It wasn't at the Avatar, but at his younger sister. Some days he couldn't believe that they were related. "We're taking you to the Southern Air Temple." Helping her up, he had one of her arms around his shoulder to help her stand, and with that he whistled for Alla to come.

The big Sky Bison landed not to far in front of Connan and Anika.

"CORAL LET'S GO!" He yelled for his sister who just as the echo had fully faded away, had appeared on Alla's saddle like thing. "Coral.. A little help.."

"OH!" With a smile, Coral jumped down and easily landed in front of them. Taking the Avatar herself, she jumped up onto Alla and set her down in the middle of where her and her brother would be sitting. Giving her a blanket just in case, she sat down on the left side of the Avatar. "You'll like it there!"

Climbing up, he looked around. Whistled for Mimi, and the moment the lemur was on Corals head, as it didn't trust the Avatar anymore. Connan sat down to the right of the Avatar. "I suppose I should ask if you have anything you want to take with you?"

Coral grinned. "It's WAAAAY up high! Only people who have Sky Bison can get to it!" Giggling, she happily began to think of their home. Sure they had just set out to leave their home for a vacation, but it would be more interesting back home with the Avatar. "It's a GORGEOUS place! Much more prettier than this place."

"In one way it is prettier, but in other ways this place is prettier." He hated saying the word pretty, but even so. Coral shouldn't say rude things about the Avatars home. "Well then, let's get going." With the right words, they were back up in the air headed towards the Southern Air Temple. His mind began to think, where would the Avatar stay? Obviously no one would allow the Avatar to stay in a normal home.. But there was the Highest Monks home, it was gorgeous. Coral lived there while she was learning under him.

"WOO!" Bringing her arms out, Coral began to relax as she felt the wind hit her skin. "Hehehe!"

"Well duh! It's the sky!" Coral giggled at the Avatar. For someone who was supposed to be so wise, she sure didn't seem like it.

Connan glared at Coral. "How about you take a nap or something."

"But I'm not tired!"

"Then get tired."

Glaring at her brother, Coral sighed, and got comfortable on the floor where she could stretch out and sleep. Far enough away from their feet so they wouldn't have to worry about kicking her accidentally.

Connan sighed as his sister quickly fell asleep. It was.. Something she had always done since she was little. She may not feel tired, but the moment she gets comfortable she's out like a light. "Sorry about her." Keeping his eyes ahead of him, he gave off another sigh before he began to comment on her own comment. "Maybe you've ridden on a Sky Bison before, you never know. Maybe you got to when you were really little." That was the best he could come up with.

Nation: Fire
Lives: on Ember Island

The air around her was humid and searing hot but she still continued on her way to the stream. She needed to get to the stream before they did or there would be trouble.
"Hey wait up, Ashhead" she heard them call out. She started running and turned as to take another route. If they knew that she was a stronger better firebender then why did they choose her to pick upon. She knew she could easily kill them but chose not to, but the idea still lingered fresh in her mind. She lost them in chase before she made it to a secret part of the stream. The cool water soothed her mind, even if she was a firebender the water appeased her greatly. Her she could finally achieve peace and rest.

I sit, closing my eyes, and hear Aelia and Daichi's quiet breathing. They are both asleep, but I can't sleep. We're so close to the island--the island I was shown as a little girl--that I can practically feel the Avatar's presence already.
I remember.

"Wait! No!" Mother screams, and a fire-bender slashes at her with flames. She goes down, clutching her face, and treats the burns, but passes out in the process. Another fire-bender finishes the deed and I scream at my mother's dead body.
I'm the only one left in the entire village...
And then...
On the ship to Ember Island, but we make a stop to some island, the island I'm now going to with Aelia and Daichi...and a fire-bender holds on tightly to the Avatar, crying...Ryuu! I remember...but...
And then, Ember Island, which is cold and unwelcoming despite the heat emitting from the lake...the fire-bender guards, beating me...Aaljwin, smiling at me...telling me everything will be all right...his weak form, weakened by my blood-bending, which I hate to do but I must...and then...

Nothingness.
Without realizing it, I've drifted off to sleep, and I'm crying. My eyes are wet with tears, which are streaming down my cheeks, pouring onto the wooden floor of the ship's deck, and Aelia is staring at me while Daichi lies still, apparently still asleep.
I must've screamed in my sleep. I did that a lot in Ember Island. The guards would be angry if I woke them with my screaming, when I had nightmares, but they were forbidden to hurt me.
"Aethelflaed," Aelia murmurs, whispering so that I can barely hear, "what's happened to you?"
I can't even reply.

*

After watching Aethelflaed cry silently for a moment or two, she straightens up, and I watch her leave the deck. I follow, hoping that Daichi won't wake and freak out, and see her staring out at the island. I'm amazed we've come so far, and she must be, too, for her jaw is dropped wide open.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
She bites her lip, which I've noticed she does so often. It must be what she does when she's worried, or nervous, or angry, or scared.
"What's wrong?" I repeat.
"It's the island. It's empty. I can sense no water-benders other than myself for miles around."
I'm confused. It takes a lot to confuse me. "Well, then, what can that mean?" I ask, and take a step back in horror, for I've figured it out before she has even told me.
"It means the Avatar is gone."

After a night of no sleep for me, Aelia awakes and greets me. I'm not sure where Daichi's stalked off to--he seems determined to check the ship every five minutes for intruders--but she's ready for breakfast, and I cooked it last night because I had to do something to keep me from going crazy. My thoughts keep on flashing back to the same, depressing bits and pieces of my conscious thoughts. We're here. We're here on the island, and the Avatar is gone. We could've helped her. We could've...WHAT could we have done, Aethelflaed? What could we have done? She'd have been stuck here until she learned the other elements. Aelia could've taught her Earth, or Daichi, but nothing else! Nothing!
My thoughts are suicidal now (to take it to the extreme) so I spent the entire night cooking, cleaning, and practicing my water-bending. I also kept watch for Ryuu or other fire-benders, but Daichi doesn't seem too convinced that I'm competent. But that means he's doing a good job, I suppose.
Aelia sits next to me, digging into her plum juice and bear-squid eggs that I fished from the ocean. (I know, I know, bear-squid eggs, my world is insanely INSANE!) "So, get any sleep last night?" she mumbles through her half-chewed, soggy food.
"Ew," I grumble. "Swallow, then talk, princess."
"Sorry." She swallows, avoiding choking by washing it down with the spoiled plum juice that I found in the stores of the ship. "Uck, it tastes spoiled."
"Sorry, Aelia, but we can't eat like kings and queens here. It is spoiled."
She sticks her tongue out at me, grossed out and totally un-princess-like for a brief moment. Then she wipes her mouth delicately and she's royalty once more. Like me. I straighten. I remember the ways.
"So...any sleep?" she retries.
"No." I look out at the sea and jump, seeing a fire ship approaching us. It's not a Fire Navy ship, but they'll at least want to say hi and trade a bit. "Damn!" I cuss, and shh myself before I launch into a full string of curses. Aelia looks at me, perfectly calm. "Go hide in the deck. Now!" I bark, "And get Daichi to stay with you. No, wait...yeah. Get him to stay with you." For a second, I think he might do better by pretending to be a soldier, but he'd better protect her. That's his task. I'll hold him to it.
Aelia nods and walks away, calmly, as I scramble to find some Fire Navy armor and change out of my tattered Water Nation clothing.

*

I huddle in the hold, freezing my bum off but too proud to say anything. Damn these stupid traders or pirates, I just want to get on that island and eat something that isn't spoiled! I wanted to strangle Aethelflaed when she told me that it actually was spoiled. But, then, for now, beggars can't be choosers.
Aethelflaed approaches, looking strange in too-small Fire Navy armor. "They're gone," she murmurs, and I nod. "They left, but they were angry when I refused to trade."
"You refused to trade?" I screech. She nods. "They might've had food!"
She chuckles. "They didn't. That's what they wanted to trade. I know a liar when I see one, and they had no unspoiled food. Just like us." I roll my eyes. She can act so full of herself. But, then, people have told me the same thing. It's a habit and a lifestyle. It's enjoyable in both situations.
"Are you sure they're gone?" I ask, just to be sure.
"Positive." Her eyes flicker towards Daichi, but then go back to me. "Was everything okay while I dealt with them?"
"Me? Stuck in this freezing, godawful ship deck? Freezing my bum off? Oh, no, everything's peachy. It's all good," I reply sarcastically.
She sighs, then turns, gesturing to me that I ought to follow her up to the upper deck.
I smile. I think she likes me.
