The sun was just begging to fall below the horizon, making the hair on the back of a white wolf shudder. She raised her head to the sky and watched as the darkness enveloped the world once again. It was the 10th night Dahlia had ever remembered. It was on that first night that she had awoken to smoke and shadow. Just the very thought of it sent her growling. But she kept up her pace. The smell of other wolves pressed her onwards. Perhaps their company would fill the hole in her heart and mind...
Just then a shadow was cast upon a leafless tree before her eyes. Her heart soared at the prospect of companionship. She wheeled around to meet the shadows maker. Her heart instantly pounded in her chest, urging her to run. It was only shadow. Just then, the shadow from the base of the dead tree walked forward, its form moving constantly, as if it would simply blow away. But it did not. It moved closer to her as she stumbled backwords, her quick feet frozen in fear.
What was this thing that stirred her heart so? It was strange and hauntingly familiar. But before it came any closer to her it stopped dead in its tracks, mearly a foot away from her and made a sort of yelp, and whithered away with the nights breeze. She was free... but why?...
She lay alone in the darkness panting, confused. Why hadnt it taken her?

Kora prowled the border near Lake Lux of her new home. The other Storm-Keepers were getting settled in... But she herself couldn't rest. Something was out there, and it reeked of Darkness. She had to know what it was, and she was more than prepared to fight to protect the new pack. And Kora herself still had a score to settle with the Darkness, if that was what was out there.
The daylight was quickly slipping away, and in the thick forest it was probably already dark. In the dimming light Kora could see a white and grey-spotted she-wolf near a dead tree. Her hackles raised as she saw a Darkness-Creature aproach the wolf. Kora wasted no time when she saw the she-wolf was frozen in fear, and charged at the Creature.
Before she could reach it, however, it vanished. Growling her fury at the sudden disapearance, she wondered why it had vanished. Darkness Creatures feared no one, as far as she knew. Hearing panting, she remembered the she-wolf. Kora was just behind her, so she walked around so the wolf could see her.
"Are you okay? That was a close call you had there. It's a shame it vanished before I could rip it to peices." Kora said, concerned for her. Thinking about her 'rip it to peices' statement for a moment, she amended it. "Or try to. I've only seen it done successfully once."

Dahlia was still in shock when she heard a voice call to her. She jumped slightly but her heart suddenly melted at the sight of a real wolf. This was the first time she'd ever remembered seeing another wolf before... Her blue eyes danced at the sight of the young she wolf. So politely, she stood up.
"The darkness?..." Images flashed in her mind at the word. It was very familiar. So it was the darkness that approached her on this night... and had laughed at her in the shadows just days before. Why me? She asked herself.
She still looked stunned but attempted to regain herself. " Well thank you for your help. Perhaps it wasn't up for a fight against two powerful femmes." She mused, smiling. She was feeling much better. Hopefully the wolf thought she wasn't crazy regardless of how crazy she really felt. Why couldn't she remember anything about her past? What was her identity?

Kora stood patiently when the white she-wolf jumped at first, then relize that Kora was another wolf. She nodded at her question, a bit suprised that she said it as if she didn't know what it was. "Yes, the Darkness. I'm suprised you don't know what it is. The Darkness is the reason the Great Packs left; they went to fight it."
Kora noticed the older wolf seemed it bit off, as if she knew about it yet didn't. She wondered what happened, but then mentally shrugged. It wasn't too important, and wasn't there something odd about all the wolves left behind? Kora herself had almost overpowering urge to go and fight the Darkness, even though at the time she had been just a pup.
She smiled kindly and nodded to the she-wolf. "I felt something was... Off, so I came to see what it was. It's dangerous to leave the forests alone at night now, you know."

"So ive noticed." Dahlia added in good humor. It was indeed very dangerous to wander out alone. It seemed that the darkness sought the loners.
"Do you belong to a pack?" She suddenly asked, tilting her head to the side.

Kora chuckled at the wolf's humor. It was nice to meet someone who still had one. Not that all of the wolves she knew had no humor... It just wasn't common anymore. I wonder why? The thought came to her sarcasticly.
The she-wolf's question seemed odd, even though Kora knew it shouldn't have. It was a perfectly normal one since Kora had just said it was dangerous to be alone. She knew why, of course. She was still in a bit of shock that the Dawn-Fire Pack had split; even if she was proud of Faiyrn and the shock was a good one.
"I am of the Storm-Keepers. We are a pack that welcomes any and all who have been left pack-less by the Darkness and wanderers looking for a place to call their home." Kora said.

Dahlias ears perked up at the she wolfs response. Her kindness surprised her. This was her first remembered encounter of a wolf. She had not expected it to be so pleasant. All she had known for the last few days was the darkness...
"Your pack sounds very kind. Excuse me for being so rude earlier. I should have introduced myself earlier. Im Dahlia and... as far as I know I have no family. I mean, I definitely came from somewhere but... I cant remember anything..."
Her voice trailed off as she became lost in her own thoughts. She hoped desperately that the wolf hadnt thought her strange.

"Hello, Dahila; my name is Kora." she said, thinking abou Dahila's situation. It reminded Kora of herself, a bit. "Nothing? If you would like, I'm sure Faiyrn- the Alpha- would welcome you if you would like to join my pack or stay while you try to remember."
She thought that Dahila would fit in well with the Storm-Keepers, and it was true- she would, most likely, be very welcome. Kora's mother was not one to turn away a loner; especaily one hunted by the Darkness. Nor would that put the pack in any extra danger. Oghren- the familiar of Andragos- was also hunted by it.

Dahlia's heart melted at the thought of a home; a family. She smiled and her tongue lolled out of the side of her mouth a bit. She couldn't help herself.
"Thank you so much Kora," she said, bowing slightly. She attempted to seem graceful when her blue, flowery necklace became hung atop her muzzle as she lifted her head. With the poof of her breath it fell back to her neck but she continued to look down at it.
"I know this necklace is some sort of key to my past... but I cant be sure. Your pack seems to be very, very kind. If I could stay that would be very wonderful. Im most afraid when im alone..."
But she was sure that fact was true for most of the wolves around here. The darkness loved a loner... There was always strength and comfort in numbers.

Kora smiled at Dahlia's happiness of joining a pack. It made her think of when she had first found Faiyrn after losing her parents. "It's no problem; I think all of us in the Storm-Keepers were once in a position similar to yours." She looked at the necklace of flowers, breifly wondering if it was a key to a good past or terrors.
"Hmm... Well, I just want you to know that sometimes there are things best left forgotten; not that I don't want you to try to remember." she said. "The pack is this way, if you'll follow me." She gestured into the woods, then started into the trees at a slow trott.

Dahlia briefly considered what Kora had said. Perhaps things were best forgotten... For now she would rest however, and learn to feel the love of a pack. It seemed just a distant memory...
"I understand... I'll just rest and see if I can regain my thoughts then. In the meantime, it'd be great to enjoy myself for a change..."
As Kora passed Dahlia she smiled at her and followed, the promise of family, seemingly not far away...
