Twinkle twinkle little star...
Oh how I wonder what you are...
up above the world so high...
Like a diamond in the sky...

It was a night like any other night. The moon was high and full. It's light illuminating the world along with her sister stars. There weren't many clouds in the sky but that could change by morning but for now all was right. Or was it? Unbeknownst to almost all who were sleeping a little star among her sisters fell from the heavens. Her streak of white hot light made a lovely trail until the fallen star fell onto the earth... although it wasn't a star at all but something much greater. A tiny ship, bunt up and destroyed from impact. The ground was singed with fire but at the same time crystallized by ice. The little crater in the grassy field was barren of life yet the little creature that had been inside was not too far away. The creature was nothing seen on this planet. It was small. Maybe the size of a basket ball. It was not a solid yet at the same time, it was made of a strange clear gelatin that could be held in humans hands without trickling away. The blob was a pretty and light purple shade, like lavender but the strangest thing of all was the blob had eyes! Two round amethyst colored eyes looked around for safety. It was exhausted from its travels, hey, blobs could get tired too! But where was safe? Maybe here for the night. It's not light it had a choice. The little tired blob found a cozy little place, snuggled up against a small boulder embedded in the ground. Suddenly a mouth made an appearance in the little blob as it let out a big yawn before finally letting its sleepy eyes flutter shut.

Twinkle Twinkle in the night...

The night air was crisp and cool. A light breeze rustled the trees around the compound, but there was no heavy wind. Not a cloud was in the sky. A perfect night for stargazing. It was lucky, living far enough away from the city to scan the skies was such a great advantage, and having a large, living space with plenty of equipment made it so much easier than simply running back to a lab in the city every time something needed speculating. But, even still, tonight was not a night for speculating. Tonight was a night for stargazing, and that was just what he was going to do.

The ‘he’ in question happened to be a young scholar by the name of Yami Mutoh. An expert in Physics and Biology, a graduate of the University of Tokyo and an all around intelligent man, Yami lived out here in the countryside of Domino, Japan. The compound/laboratory that he lived in was perfect for his work. He could study in peace and quiet, not worrying about his findings leaking to anyone. Anyone, except the one person he shared the living space with; his twin Atem. Like himself, Atem was also a scientist of sorts, so sharing space with him was actually more to their advantage. Research could be exchanged, formulas could be checked and rechecked and best of all, Atem didn’t have any weird roommate habits, or if he did, Yami hardly noticed them as they had been living together since childhood anyway. On the compound deck, he pondered these ideas as he finished setting up his telescope. It was beautiful telescope, a Meade 1610-60-02 model, sleek and shiny, in pristine condition. Not the most common telescope on the market, in fact it was a gift from one of his teachers when he graduated. It was this reason, plus the fact that it was such an expensive item that Yami took such good care of it.

When the setup was complete, Yami peeked into the eyepiece, shifting the lenses with one hand and steadying the scope with the other. Such pretty stars, he thought idly. Too bad I've seen you a million times before. Nothing of interest there, he switched from spot to spot, searching for something of interest. Oh sure, he could have plugged in some coordinates and looked at one of the heavenly bodies above him, but that just sounded nerdy. It was much more fun to just look and see what he could find. Searching… Searching… Come on! He searched and looked until he became frustrated. Nothing of interest. Nothing at all.

With a heavy sigh, Yami pulled away from the eyepiece. It looked like it was going to be a disappointing night after all. However, just as he was about to take the scope apart again, something caught his eye. A glittering speck of light, not too far away. Rushing back to his eyepiece, he brought the item into focus. It looked like… a meteor? No, something smaller… but what? “Atem! Atem!” He called, his voice shrill with excitement and wonder. “You’ve got to see this!”

User ImageIn the room that was known as the study was where Atem liked to work. Papers were strewn out across the long wooden table with various words scrawled across the surface. If anyone else would have looked at the papers, it would have probably looked as though a chicken got ink on its feet, then proceeded to dance along it in some sort of spazzy dance. In short- Atem's hand writing was a mess when it came to late nights and jotting down random ideas. Not so much of a surprise. He didn't have time to make it all nice and neat unless he was rewriting it to send to the scientific community. Much like his twin, Atem's playing field was science. Bioecology to be exact. Right now the young man was trying to sort out his research into more manageable and organized stacks.

It was a monthly thing. Atem would get caught up in his work, and then notice that he couldn't find what he needed. When he finally got fed up, he would have one of these organizing nights as he was now. If he didn't stop, he'd probably have it done in the early hours of the morning.

Atem! Atem!

The call of his name ran through his head like nails against a chalkboard; sharp, yet it was loud enough to bring him to full attention. That fact that the door to his study was closed didn’t seem to help dull it one bit. Deep crimson eyes shifted towards the wooden obstacle, a light sigh passing his lips. “Coming!” was the only reply to the call as the male stood from his chair, placing the papers down onto the oak desk.

Stepping out onto the balcony, Atem took the moment to render the situation. His twin seemed pleased, but with what, he wasn’t quite sure. And knowing how his brother was with things, it would have to be interesting for him to call for Atem. Without further prompting, Atem strolled on forward and up beside Yami, bending down enough to peek through the eyepiece. “Alright. What exactly am I suppose to be-” His words came to an abrupt halt as his gaze focused on the item through the telescope’s view. Strange... And that was putting it lightly. From what Atem could tell, the object in question wasn't natural, but gazing at it through a telescope wasn't exactly the best way to tell what something was. Especially not when they could always go do research up close.

Pulling back, Atem glanced towards his twin, straightening up as he did so. "I've never seen anything like that before." And that was saying something. "Did you see where it came from?" A logical question, and one that would most likely bug the hell out of Atem until he got an up close look at whatever that thing was.

As Atem pulled back from the telescope, Yami gave his twin a sly grin. It wasn’t often he found something so spectacular. He considered himself lucky to have such a cool person as his brother to share it with. “I have no idea. It seems to have fallen from deep space, but I spotted it by accident so I can’t be sure.” His eyes drifted back to the skies. The little speck of light had gotten significantly closer since he last looked at it. The telescope was no longer needed, the object was in the atmosphere now. Wordlessly, he tugged at Atem’s shirt, noticing just how close the object was to the woods surrounding the compound. He wanted to say something, but his mouth wouldn’t produce any sounds. The object was very close now! It had not only broken the atmospheric layers and was plummeting very close to their house. “Uhh, eh, ehhh…” he stuttered, pointing at the object.

Before he could put a viable sentence together, the white streak made impact! Instantly, a large shockwave was produced, sending a ripple through the trees straight for them. Some of the shock was absorbed by the trees, but not enough to stop the massive wind that slammed the compound and the twins. Light dust and debris flew through past them, as Yami covered his face with his arms, trying to stand his ground. He hadn’t expected the landing to be so close to the house…

Wait! He thought as he dropped his arms to look in the direction of the impact. That… thing… it’s… so close… What a night! Out of the blue, he catches a glimpse of something never before seen, and then, the same object crash lands not a hundred feet from his house! What were the odds (Although, the closeness did explain why the object was so easy to spot)? He looked on, deep into the wilderness beyond, knowing that somewhere in that direction was something… Spectacular! Yea! That’s a good word for it! His eyes drifted to Atem, standing next to him. There was a moment of silence, as a smile grew on his face. Deep in his heart, Yami knew they were thinking the exact same thing!

“Get the flashlight!”

User ImageAtem didn't need Yami's pointless babbling and tugging to see the object that was plummeting to the ground close to their home. Silently he stood there, watching the light fall and come closer. His mind told him to grab his brother and move away from the balcony, but his feet were rooted to the ground as though they were cement. For once he cursed the part of his mind that triggered such a response from him. As the impact happened, his body responded accordingly, his arms coming up in a mirror reaction to his twin's own.

Feeling the wind die down, Atem let out a low cough, brushing the debris and dust from his hair and clothes, watching it float down to the floor below. Never in his time alive had he seen something impact up close. He was amazed, stunned, and thrilled to levels that made his blood pump wildly through his veins. Looking to Yami, an identical smile crossed his own features as he turned on his heel, moving to obtain the items before the words even fully left his brother's mouth.

Digging through the drawers, he moved things to the side, to the floor, messily trying to find the things they needed. Of course, he would end up having to clean that mess up at a later time, but that could wait. After all, they had a scientific discovery to uncover! Finally finding two, he took a few moments to check if they worked before turning, tossing one to Yami as he passed his brother. "Hurry up!" he called out to Yami, slipping his shoes and jacket on while he threw open the door, stepping out into the cool night air. Alright then. Which way, which way. Looking left, then right, Atem started off towards the direction of the crash, knowing his twin wouldn't be too far behind.

It wasn't until he got into the woods that he switched the flashlight on, moving slower than he had in the open, shining the light from side to side, making sure he wasn't going to disturb anything. Last thing they needed was to be chased out of there by some wild animal. Maimed alive. Really, the list could have went on. One thing was apparent though; the smell of charred leaves, grass, and branches was getting stronger, yet fading. It was strange, and yet the smell disappeared only seconds later, leaving the male with no idea which way to go.

Part of the young man wanted to call out to his twin, but he knew better in the dark. That would probably just startle something out there. Turning halfway to the right, he caught a glint of something- light bouncing off of a shiny surface to be more precise. Inching closer, Atem squinted, moving the light across the ground once more, staring at the barren yet crystallized surface. Bending down, he hesitated, hand outstretched as it hovered over one of the crystals. He didn't know what it was, but he could feel the cold radiating from the surface. With his scientific mind going ahead of his logical one, he reached out the rest of the way, touching the surface that was surprisingly cold and slightly damp, like ice.

It seemed as though better judgment was just tossed to the wind, for he rose, letting the light flutter about the area around himself, his eyes landing on the odd object that seemed to be the thing they had spotted earlier. "Yami!" he called out, listening to his own voice drift through the trees. "Over here! You've got to see this!" Whatever 'this' was.

Twinkle Twinkle little star...
How I wonder what you are...
Up above the world sooooo high...
Like my diamond in the sky...

The little lavender jam was tucked away against the rock, in a deep slumber. It was completely unaware of its pursuers who were searching the forest for it. The little intruder was unaware of many things in the forest. It probably should have left the area but it was so tired. Space travel took a lot out of the little thing and not to mention the crash. It was mentally and physically worn out and being this way meant the little jam was pretty much defenseless and an easy meal for any animal hungry enough to try it out. Good thing it didn't really smell like anything, though taste was another story but the little jam didn't quite know what it taste like. For all it knew it could taste like sweet strawberries or blueberries. It definitely looked like something sweet on this planet. Like a candy of some sort.

The little jam was peacefully sleeping but that was until one of its pursuers had found it. The shout disturbed the little blob a bit but it refused to open is eyes. With its eyes shut the gelatin blob just looked like a blob...with no eyes. Yet as Atem flickered and shined his flash light upon it the blob could no longer ignore this disturbance. Slowly it opened one of its eyes. He looked around for the source of the light which seemed to be a little contraption in this tall...hairy...spikey headed thing. Why did it have to be so loud!? The little blob was trying to get its beauty sleep. The little alieniod was about to go back to sleep but it noticed what Atem was shouting about. Sure it didn't understand what the hell he was saying but the blob did understand emotion and the way Atem sounded....it sounded like he found something interesting.

It couldn't let this monster take its ship! Sure it was broken to the point where it would be impossible to fix but that was the blobs ship damn it! and right now it was acting somewhat like a shelter. It was the only tiny little place on this planet that the blob could call its own. It was time to defend his home! The purple gum drop shook its...body? A few times to wake up before slowly creeping up to Atem's side. Luckily it was night time so it would be next to impossible to see something as small as it creepy up. The blob was only a mere two feet away from the human. Instead of lunging it was analyzing the man. The blob knew this organism was much bigger then it. Though through analyzing it noticed that its vision in the dark must be horrible, that's why it had that little torchy thing that lit up an area when pointed to. Take away that and the organism would be handicapped!

The little blob did a cute little wiggle as it mustered up all its energy. Like a spring it went bouncing through the air from Atem's side. Opening its mouth wide the little blob actually ate the flashlight! For a second it hung off of Atem's hand before letting go, taking the flashlight along with it. Success! Or so the little blob thought....Too bad the flashlight was still on so now it was a glowing purple blob.... It didn't know that though. So feeling victorious the little blob just sat there, a few feet from Atem, wiggling in delight....It then noticed that the area around it was lit up with a purple light. That was weird. Wait... Looking down at itself the best that it could the blob noticed that it was glowing! Having no choice the little jam changed its internal chemical structure to try to quickly break down the flashlight and destroy the glow. Bad move...

The light inside the blob was flickering however when the insides of the blob reached the battery it suddenly felt sick. The light was gone but the blob was no longer purple but green. Feeling completely woozy it had no choice but reject the object inside of it. "Bleeeeeeeh" The blob suddenly spat up the half broken down flashlight onto the ground then started to make little coughing noises, still sick from the battery acid....This was just not the little blobs day. First it crashed now it's probably going to be eaten by this large hairy monster thing....great...

Struggling to get his boots on, Yami grabbed his jacket and stumbled out of the house shortly after Atem. Sure, this was the scientific discovery that could possibly change his life, but god forbid he get his tennis shoes! “Watch the house, Husani!” he called as he darted outside. The old dog lifted his head at the sound of his name, then yawned and went back to sleep. Tramping on after Atem in the dark was much harder than it looked. The woods around the house were dense and massive, and tripping in the dark was entirely possible and if done in just the right way, fatal.

Atem had already trudged deep into the woods, but Yami wasn’t too worried. While he couldn’t see his twin, he could see the flicker of the flashlight he was holding. Wait, was that the flashlight? He could see two things flickering. Three things? Oh, it’s some kind of reflective material.

"Yami! Over here! You've got to see this!"

Yami’s suspicions were confirmed, Atem was flashing his light on something. His grin widened, as he raced to him in the dark. Over the edge of the hill, he spotted his brother, standing in front of something unusual. It looked smashed but that wasn’t going to deter him from looking at it. Stepping forward, he tried to take the whole thing in at once; the sides, the crystals, the sheen, the way it impacted the ground….

And then he saw it. Yami froze in his tracks, his mouth dropping to the floor. Eyes wide, he fixed them on Atem’s feet. Or rather, something right next to them. His skin was as white as a ghost as he looked upon the little jelly-like mass with eyes. EYES! No creature in any registry on Earth has anything like that! Huffing and sweaty, filled with excitement and fear, he was conflicted; the scientist in him wanted to study and collect samples but the sane man inside him wanted to bolt for his house, lock the door, close the blinds and pray! Oh crap! Now the thing looked like it was bouncing! “Ah-Ah-At-Atem…” he gulped, fingers shaking as he pointed to the creature.

And things went from bad to worse as the thing jumped up and stole the flashlight! And ate it! ATE IT! He could see the thing inside its body! Yami couldn’t help but let out a yelp as the thing lunged at his brother, quickly covering his mouth to make it seem less awkward. How unmanly! And to ad insult to injury, he could see the little blob literally dissolving the tool inside its body. The silver aluminum side peeled off the flashlight, eating the light bulb, the screws and the batteries. Oh my god…. That was it, whatever this thing was, if it could dissolve a whole flashlight in seconds, him and his brother were as good as dead….

Or not, as the thing puked the item all over the ground. It was too dark to certain, but he was pretty sure the thing was a different color now. His look of terror switched to one of slight disgust, and then followed with confusion at Atem and the little jelly thing. His eyebrow lifted as he finally found the courage to step forward a bit. ”What… is that?” But did he really have to ask? There was no known biological life form like that in the woods, much less the rest of the world. And only minutes ago, he had seen something crash upon the Earth. His scientific side was kicking in as he realized that he was dealing with an alien life form. Nonchalantly, he bent down to be eye level with whatever it was they were looking at. It was only at this level that he could see what had happened to the poor creature; it had puked and was ill. ”Poor thing,” he said with a hint of curiosity. ”I think we made it sick.” He lifted his head to look at his brother, meeting his eyes. ”What should we do?” Again, he didn’t really need to say anything. He and Atem probably already knew what needed to be done, and what they desperately wanted to do as scientists. That was the thing about being twins; you could read one another like books.

User ImageAtem had been so engrossed in the wreckage that he hadn't bothered to pay attention to anything that could be remotely alive. Oblivious as a scientist could be, Atem only had time to turn a bit to see what his brother was stuttering about. Blinking once, then twice, the sun-kissed male stared at the thing hanging off his hand. He was too shocked to actually make a sound, and instead just backed up several paces as the thing let go. Any other time, he would have probably teased his twin about the unmanly way he went about some things, but then again, there he was just staring at it with large eyes, mouth slightly open from disbelief.

That...that thing... it... it...

It ate his flashlight!

He had no fear of being eaten, nor did his mind tell him to move. No, he was still in the shocked stage of having something snatched right out of his hands by a little blobby creature. And let's not forget that the thing had eyes as well, and seemed to be happily munching on what was his source of light. Words couldn't really describe the things going through Atem's head at that moment, for the young male wasn't even quite sure what he was thinking. Much like his brother he just stood there, watching the item be dissolved until the little creature seemed to stop and cough the batteries back up in what he assumed was the body's way of saying 'don't eat that, it'll kill you'.

Pfft. Who was he kidding. Atem didn't know if that thing even had that kind of system. Better yet, he didn't even know what 'it' was!

We? Atem didn't even bother to hide the scoff that left him. "We didn't make it sick. It made itself sick when it decided to eat my flashlight!" Hot headed and stubborn as ever it seemed. However the fact he had been shining the light around had probably attracted the little...whatever it was. So yeah, it could have been his fault, but that wasn't the point. The little thing did look rather sick though. Sending his twin a simple 'how should I know?' look, he glanced around, squinting in the limited light being given by the remaining flashlight. "Don't touch it," Atem warned, moving around his brother to grab a stick. It wasn't huge or anything, just half the length of his arm. His brotherly protective instinct had kicked in, and he wasn't about to let Yami go all touchy feely and poke the thing or pick it up.

Not to say his twin would be that...dense, but Atem wasn't going to take chances. Sure, the thing had touched Atem's skin, but that was just a second during the gulping process. Either way, Atem was going to double check like a good little scientist.

And that's what he did.

That's right, he poked the blob with a stick. Completely scientific right there. "Hmm..." When the stick didn't dissolve right on contact, he decided to move to the next level: transporting the odd creature. "Yami," he started, pausing for a moment as he looked to himself, then his twin. That's when it hit him. "Take your jacket off," he stated, a triumphant little grin crossing his features as he took off his own, moving over to stand behind the little blob. "Give me a hand here, we can put it in the jackets and transport it back that way." It was the best method he could think of in case this thing tried to bite... suck...gnaw... whatever the heck little blob things could do.

Twinkle Twinkle little star...
How I wonder what you are...
Up above the world sooooo high...
Like my diamond in the sky...

Oh yeah, that was a bright idea. Let's annoy the thing that could dissolve a flashlight in seconds. Still though, when it felt the tip of the stick poke it's jelly side the blob just looked at the stick before looking up at Atem. Was...Was it glaring at him? It was! The little blob was annoyed with the prodding and an irritated little rumble came from the little alien while it scooted away from Atem's trusty scientific stick. After the blob was settled an inch or two away from it's previous spot it started to cough again before just sitting there in its own misery. It seemed like it wasn't getting any better which was probably good for the twins. If the little jelly had the strength it had before it could have easily bounced off into the thick trees and hide in the forest brush. Instead it just sat there all ploppy like, watching the two large organism converse between each other about something. The little blob then noticed that the first one, the one who had that awful light beam thingy had moved behind it. Immediately the blob turned around and just stared at him, or more like leered at him. Seems like the little blob was still very course about being poisoned like that. Everything must have been a trap! A trick to capture it! That must have been this big smelly organisms plan all along! What to do? What could it do? As a blob it could only dissolve materials. Actual life matter took longer. Not to mention they were both too big, even if the little blob had quite an appetite. There was only one thing to do.

Instead of leering at Atem the blob looked over to the more curious brother who had gotten down on the same level at the blob. The blobs features, the little ones it had, softened. The little blob seemed to like Yami more than smelly Atem. It blinked at the lighter skinned twin for a few moments before mustering up enough strength. The little blob did a wiggle before he leapt into the air. Being on the same level it was much easier for the blob to latch onto Yami...it just so happened that it latched onto his face. The little blob did a wiggle again, this time it seemed to be smothering the light skinned twin. Was it trying to suffocate him!? No, it couldn't be cause the little blob soon fell off back onto the ground. It had everything it needed now. It had collected some skin cells from Atem and now it had Yami's cells. With these cells it down had human dna.

Within the blobs body a little darker shaded blob appeared. Inside this core the cells he had collected were being broken down until only the genetic codes of Atem and Yami's family line remained. Each genetic code became like a twisted spiral. It looked much like human DNA but instead the codes were being matched up with the genetic codes of the blob. It was spectacular to see because they could actually see the DNA codes within the little blob without actually needed a microscope. It multiplied over and over again, shrinking as it went. Soon the little blob looked so full that it seemed like it was going to burst and that's exactly what happened. A piece of that jelly exterior shot out into a long rope like strand. The blob was growing bigger and bigger. No longer was it transparent but opaque. The glossy shine the jelly alien had before was replaced. The jelly was no more but instead it looked and felt very much like skin. The blob grew and grew, forming and shaping as it went along till there was what looked like a crumbled human body before them. Multi-toned hair then started to sprout from the bald head, as well as eye brows and eye lashes. Soon there was no longer a blob, an alien, but a human. A naked human boy before them.

There was a moment of silence and stillness before the creature moved. It's or rather his shoulder blades twitched as it moved. The alien boy pushed himself up until he was sitting on his knees. At first he was staring at his fingers, as if they were the more fascinating thing on the face of this planet. Then something else intrigued the curious little alien and that was the thing between his legs. He could only wonder what in the world that was. But now wasn't the time to marvel at his new form. He remembered that he had company and quickly looked up at Atem, this time the glare on his face was obvious. The little alien looked as if he could be there triplet....kind of... if they were younger. This thing, this boy, had cherub chubby cheeks and round eyes almost as if he were an adolescent. He was like a mini version of them. Well he was mostly a mini version of Yami, the blob chose his DNA more over Atem's because...well he didn't seem to like Atem all that much. Though the new triplet had a light tan complexion within his skin. It was as if he were in the middle of both of their skin tones. Light with a very slight tan.

Now that the little alien had arms and legs he used them. With a little push of the hands he shoved Atemu away before getting up. Though the alien soon fell back onto his knees when his legs didn't really support him. That didn't stop him though. With a quick scurry he crawled behind Yami and hid from Atem, peeking out only to glare at him once more.

Snickering lightly at Atem’s idea of ‘brotherly protection’ and his use of the stick, Yami nonetheless obeyed his request and slipped his jacket off his shoulders. Of course, he had only just gotten the thing off his shoulders when the little blob decided to jump up, knock him on his back and start squeezing his face, like one of the face huggers in the Alien movies. Now, Yami was a scientist and he knew full well that the Alien movies were works of fiction, but maybe, if he hadn’t actually ever seen them, he wouldn’t have assumed this was some sort of alien mating ritual that involved his face getting latched onto. He kick his legs and swatted his arms around, trying to reach for his face, unable to see, the only audible sound from him being a muffled ”MMMMMM! MMMMMMMMMM! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!”

Lucky for Yami, the creature bounced back off after a few seconds, leaving him a little dazed as he sat back up. His eyes adjusted, looking at the little gooey lump that had just been humping his face, only to once again find that it had changed. Inside the creature he could see little flakes of his own skin being stripped apart to their most basic state. The DNA code was broken down and copied, with a second, identical strand joining it. He could only guess it was his twin’s DNA, and they had merged into one. From DNA double-helix, to RNA coil, to protein reaction, to tightly bound coils of enzymes to shrinking down and multiplying at a rate that was impossible by human standards! Yami had seen the very same thing in many of the bacteria he had studied in the lab, multiplying at about 1000 nuclides per second (about 20 times faster then the average human being).

By simple science, Yami could have assumed that this jelly-like creature was some sort of space bacteria, right? WRONG! Before he could even make a hypothesis, the creature changed even more! Its body color became peachy, almost like a skin tone, and the gel began to expand, forming a somewhat mammalian body. No wait, a primate body. No, a HUMAN body! ”No… way....,” Yami managed to get out, his mouth dropped in awe. The thing not only looked human, it looked like a miniature him! Well, sort of, the thing was much younger looking; his skin had some of Atem’s trademark tan, but most notably, its eyes were still that stunning violet!

At first, Yami just watched, not even really thinking about what he had just seen. This was quite a discovery! They had found an alien life form, capable of replicating human DNA! Imagine the diseases he could cure with that knowledge! Stem cell research would be a thing of the past; they could just build a whole new set of repeated DNA with help from this amassing alien! This... fussy alien that just pushed his brother. Charming. Maybe they had to teach it earth manners first. Yami shifted his eyes around as the naked boy-alien raced behind him to hide. ”Oh my!” was all he could say at first. He finally got an up close look at the creature but he really didn’t see anything but what looked like a normal, human boy. I wonder… maybe there’s more like him on this earth and no one ever noticed because of this ability to blend DNA? Thinking this and many other scientific theories, he managed to get a look at the alien’s new face. ”I think you scared it!” he said to his brother in a playful tone. The thing didn’t really look scared at all; more annoyed than anything else. ”It’s okay, we won’t hurt you,” he tired to coax the boy, picking up his discarded jacket and wrapping it around him. ”See?” One more look was tossed at his brother, this time his eyes were as big as saucers and his mouth in a cute pout. He knew Atem had seen that look before. It was the same look that got him the dog they had back home. It was the look that said Can we keep it? Pweeeeese?

Twinkle Twinkle little star...

The alien blinked a few times as Yami draped his jacket around his body. "Murrr?" He looked at the strange material engulfing his new body then a light tint of pink took his cheeks. The warmth and scent from the jacket were triggering strange things inside of him, things he never felt before. Happily the alien boy snuggled himself into the jacket, even buried his nose into the material to take a deep wiff of Yami's scent. While doing this he noticed the twin was talking to the other. Curiously the alien boy peeked out from behind the pale twin and saw the look on his face. It was weird! But maybe that's a custom on his planet. So the alien did the same thing. He looked up Atem, his eyes going all big and stary like. The alien also poked out his bottom lip a bit and trembled it.

User ImageThere was little Atem didn't feel when the creature leaped onto his brother's face. Anger, concern, fear for his brother's well being; it all came down to that though- the fear. His twin meant the world to him, and he was just standing there staring at the scene with eyes wide, unable to think of anything to do. Thankfully, the thing decided to detach itself from his brother's face.

"Yam-" his voiced concern was halted, his crimson gaze falling onto the blob-like creature, watching with a scientific mind as the thing changed and reformed. It was amazing, and it brought a thousand questions to mind in that one second. A.... human, formed out of... whatever that was, in only mere seconds. How was it possible? That was like some sort of evolution sped up a hundred times plus! However, no words left the male this time, much unlike his brother.

Very articulate family, weren't they?

Nn! Stumbling a step back, more out of shock than the shoving, it soon became very clear to the tanned male that this little.... creature thing didn't like him all that much. Granted, he had poked it with a stick, but could anyone blame him? He just had to make sure his brother wasn't going to be eaten alive! Or dissolved by whatever it was made up. What kind of brother would he be if he stood by and let that happen?

...He was going to ignore the fact that the creature had basically molested his brothers face.

Staring at the now human-like thing, Atem's eyebrow cocked slightly, fascination combined with slight amusement clear in his expression. "Ah," was all Atem had to say, a simple grunt of agreement at the scaring statement. The little thing look pissed at him, not terrified out of it's mind. Not that it was any worse than what Yami was trying to pull right then and there.

No, absolutely not! He wasn't going to give in to that! Not this time!

To back that up, Atem stubbornly closed his eyes and turned his head away from the sight, arms crossed over his chest as he tried to ignore the fact he could still feel his brother's eyes on him. They had a dog! Alright, so maybe they both wanted one, but Yami had pulled that stunt the moment Atem became unsure if it was a wise decision or not. And now he was doing it over a ...blob turned human creature thing! It wasn't like they could leave it out in the cold though, or so his mind reasoned. Nor could they drop it off somewhere. For all they knew this thing had never interacted with anyone other than them, and to leave it with someone else was like throwing a box of kittens in a river to see if they would swim. It was cruel, and down right disturbing.

Ah, he was getting off subject again.

Opening his eyes and turning back to his twin, he parted his lips to speak only to stop, a familiar feeling of a tic forming in his eyebrow as he looked from his brother, to the creature. Not only had his brother done it, but the little thing was copying Yami as well! He could barely take it when Yami did it, and this was like two of them at once! Giving a tired sigh, Atem rubbed at his right temple with two fingers, his resolve starting to crumble away like a cliff being pounded on by the harsh ever turning sea.

"Alright, just stop with the eyes!" he conceded, looking to the smaller one of the three, "And you too!" He wasn't angry, or anything of that sort. On the other side of the coin, they had found something quite remarkable, and to be able to study it would be a new step forward on any field. Taking his own jacket from the ground, he brushed the dirt away before throwing it at his twin in a silent 'put it out' type command, looking back to the - what could only be explained as - crash site.

"It's not like we can leave it-... him out here anyway. He'd probably freeze in this weather." That was if the creature had the same sort of system as they did. Once again, he had no clue. It made him wonder though. Would it be like taking care of a child? It already knew how to walk, as it clearly displayed when moving to hide behind his twin and away from him, so at least that was covered for the most part. Grabbing the flashlight that hadn't been destroyed, he pointed the light down the path they had taken and moved to the other side of his brother, away from the little creature as to not start some sort of glaring war from it's behalf, gently nudging his twin on. "Come on. When we get home you can find him something to eat that isn't a flashlight, and I'll see what I can do about clothes." That was Atem's way of actually offering as to what he would do. If his brother wanted to find clothes and have him cook then that was fine as well, and his tone clearly stated that. After all, his twin should have known how Atem worked by now. Extremely well at that. And let's not forget a place for the little human creature to sleep, but that would be the easy part.

"Murr!" The little creature squeaked and jumped behind Yami again when Atemu had somewhat snapped at him to stop. After a few seconds or two he peeked out once again, eyeing the tall sun-kissed male. What were they talking about? The little human blob creature could only wonder. Hopefully it was food, he was starving and that flashlight was none to appetizing. He still have the horrible taste of battery acid on his tongue.

Though while they spoke about whatever it was they were talking about the little blobs attention turned to the grass. He saw a grasshopper just minding its own business. Those bright amethyst eyes sparkled as he looked the bug over. Was that yummy? It didn't look yummy but who knew what was yummy on this planet? Well...these two organisms did but he couldn't understand them. Not yet anyway. So the creature ignored them and went off hunting his own food.

He stayed low to the ground as he stalked up behind the grasshopper who was blissfully unaware of its pursuer. The creatures pink little tongue slipped out between his lips and ran along them, wetting them as he prepared for another mean. He got closer and closer to it and right when he was about to grasp the bug it hopped away. "Mur?" He tilted his head slightly before smiling and hopping after the bug.

He chased it around in circled until he saw that it landed in the perfect spot...on Atemu's back. The young blob stared at it, grinning as he approached and then with a sudden lung he jumped on top of Atemu, the jacket flying off of his shoulders leaving him butt naked once more. "Mur?" He looked around for the bug and as he pulled away from Atemu he ground it splattered over his chest and Atemu's clothes....aww...his buggy was dead...

A happy sigh of relief came from Yami’s mouth when Atem agreed to let the little guy stay with them. Mostly he wasn’t worried, that trick worked every time! Besides, this thing was an alien life form out all alone in a world that was completely, for lack of a better word, alien! It would be stupid not to help the little guy! ”Alright, it’s settled! You’re coming with us little guy!” he cheered, turning to look at…

Nothing? ”Little guy?” Yami’s eyes darted around behind him for the adorable puffball alien, not spotting him. ”Where did he go?” A little discouraged, he turned back to his brother, only to spot just who he was looking for, childishly chasing a tiny grasshopper. This being had a charm to him, which Yami especially noted when he leapt up and tackled his brother while chasing the bug. Charmed by the cute gesture, Yami let out a laugh. The little sweetie had no clue! Letting his laughter continue, he stood up and walked over to his brother and the alien boy. He retrieved the discarded jacket and slipped his hands under the little one’s arms to help slide him off of Atem’s back. ”Come on, brother!” he said, helping him to his feet. ”Lets get back to the house.”

This time when he put the jacket on the alien, he showed it how to slide its arms into the little holes. ”That’s better! Don’t you worry; we’ve got a big dog at home that’s a lot more fun to play with than an itty-bitty grasshopper!” he reassured in a calm voice. He was trying not to spook the creature, lest it run away. From his pocket, he took out a small pocketknife and tossed (blade collapsed of course) to Atem. ”Mark some of the trees between here and the house so we can find our way back later!” After all, it would have been unfair of them to separate the alien from his means of travel permanently (And perhaps if they made a good impression, he would allow them to study it as well?). ”Okay little man, lets get you home!” the fair skinned twin declared with a smile. Softly, Yami slide his hands under the little one once more, this time supporting his back and legs to pick him up. A pleasant surprise hit him when he stood all the way back up with him tightly in his arms. ”Wow! He may have gotten bigger, but he feels so light! Like he’s made of feathers!” His lips became the curious smile that always came to him when he was thinking new ideas. All set, he began tramping on back to the house, keeping a close eye to make sure Atem didn’t fall behind or get hurt. No project was worth doing without Atem around!

The trek home was quick. Apparently, they hadn’t found the alien very far from where they lived at all. ”I think mom sent us a box of old hand-me-downs a while back. Maybe there are some clothes in it.” Once in the house, Yami carried the creature into the kitchen, placing him on the counter. ”You just sit right there and I’ll get you something to eat!” he said, smiling again, before turning around to rummage in the refrigerator. While Yami was distracted, Husani lifted his head at the sent of someone new in the house. As most dogs do, Husani picked himself up off the floor and wandered over to the kitchen to see who it was that came in. His little doggie nose found the little alien foot draped over the counter. No less curious then the two scientists who owned him, Husani began to sniff and soon lick the little foot, wagging it’s tail in jubilation. It smelled like his two masters!

”Husani! Be nice!” Yami cautioned the dog, who backed off and went back to his little dog bed. ”Now,” said Yami, finally returning with a grilled cheese sandwich. ”Since you ate my brother’s flashlight, I assumed giving you tools would just be a bad idea, so lets just stick with finger foods lest you eat all our silverware!” He chuckled at his own joke, knowing the little alien would not get it, let along know he said anything useful at all. With his hands, he pulled the sandwich into triangular halves, then handing one to the alien boy. ”Go on,” he urged lightly, taking a bite out of the other half to demonstrate. ”It’s much better then a flashlight, I promise you.”
