having such an expert team certainly made construction go by relatively quickly. all the Null Shards were in place properly, and the Portals were each half-completed. he thought it time to take a break and let the workers do the rest, since no more of the magical part was needed until the other Portals were fashioned.
Valthier strode back into the building, stretching and making popping sounds. he had to bite back the urge to light a cigar.

"Hélas, moi aussi j'ai été loin de la maison depuis bien trop longtemps," Corbeau responded. "Mais si je connais Paris, il est toujours aussi belle."
The two walked and talked, wandering the halls.

Dmitri, Alfons, and Ciro were the only ones left in the room. "Vhat just happened?" Dmitri asked, turning to face the now smirking Alfons and the somewhat concerned Ciro. Alfons walked over to Ciro, patting the vampire on the back. "Why I do believe Corbeau walked off with your Fräulein, friend," Alfons jested. If Ciro could've blushed, he would. He set off after the two, just to make sure Corbeau didn't try anything. After he was out of earshot, Dmitri said, "I do not zhink he knows that puppet-man isn't interested in women. *burp* Or anyone for zhat matter."
"Schwein." Alfons muttered at Dmitri's belch.
((Corbeau: "Alas, I too have been away from home for far too long. But if I know Paris, it is still beautiful."))

"Oui, qu'elle est. Il ya une petite flamme pour la ville de la lumière toujours allumée dans mon cœur. Je souhaite seulement que je pouvais la voir une fois de plus, mais la mort m'a tenu occupé damnés," Scarlet sighed mournfully. "Nous devons lui rappeler fidèlement jusqu'à ce que nous pourront se prélasser dans sa lumière douce encore, mon ami."
She didn't really have a destination in mind, but wandered, delighted to have a French companion again.

"Certes," Corbeau agreed. The two walked on, eventually stumbling upon Val.

"What was that, Dmitri? Corbeau has no interest in women? Sent me off for no reason?" Ciro asked sarcastically as he came back through the doorway.
"How did you--?" Dmitri uttered as Ciro pointed to his ears.
"Vampire, remember?"
Alfons was on the floor laughing his a** off, until a twig snapped outside. Dmitri pulled out his pistol--Alfons too--and Ciro commanded, "We know you're out there, identify yourself."

On a plane between China and Japan, Thane sat quietly, reading his scanner. An image of Alfons's brother flickered for a moment, then disappeared. A grin now stretched across Thane's face.

Val turned around as he saw the pair approaching out of the corner of his eye. it took him a split second to recognize Scarlet.
"ahh, Scarlet! who's your new friend? another agent in our plan, or a soldier perhaps?" he said lightly, mocking the dangers they've faced thus far.
he put back on his usual broad grin, and sized the scarecrow up, in a strangely desirous manner -- almost a combination of an appraiser and a predator. the fingers on his left hand drummed on his cane handle.

"Ah, Valthier, this is Corbeau. Corbeau, Valthier," Scarlet made the introductions. "Corbeau is a...friend of Alfons, and a kindred French spirit."

Another twig snapped, and Ciro moved towards the door. Alfons and Dmitri stood with their guns at the ready. Ciro motioned that he was going to open the door, after three seconds. The gunmen nodded. Ciro flung open the door. What they saw surprised them. Alfons and Dmitri lowered their pistols. Ciro peered around the doorway to see. "That is not intruder."
"That, my friends, is a raccoon dog." All three sighed.
The fuzzy little creature stared up at the three, and tilted its head inquisitively, before walking off.

"It is not a problem, I am quite fluent in English," Corbeau replied, adding with a chuckle, "I would bow like that too, were my hat not sewed on." His current body was a scarecrow, after all. His huntsman puppet crawled back out of his pocket. "Be a dear and watch the front, Ashi*." The spider crawled down his arm onto a wall, and then dashed to the shadows near the ceiling.

"Vell, I'm goink to bed zhen." Dmitri said, holstering his gun as the tanuki ran off. "Not all of us are nocturnal." The man turned around, took three steps, and promptly passed out on the floor. Alfons called for the servant, who was there almost instantly. "Please have someone bring him a blanket. You don't have to move him, just make sure he doesn't freeze." Ciro nudged Dmitri with his foot. "He's actually out this time, ain't he?" Alfons nodded. "Don't worry, I'm wide awake, and I'll make sure he doesn't get sick in his sleep. You go regroup with Scarlet."

Thane's plane finally set down, and he disembarked--the devilish grin still on his face.
