The year is M2538 on the prosperous planet of Mars New Earth, and its human inhabitants are watching their lives change at the speed of light. The previously "useless" ice-caps here can now be melted down with steam technology, turning them into safe drinking water! Airships twice the size of an Earthen jumbo-jet traverse from city to city, eliminating the risks of crossing harsh terrain! Freeze-dried sweets are on sale for only $9.25! Wait! Don't leave! Don't be fooled by my false cheer! Not everyone is happy on this planet... In fact, there's a civil war brewing in the central colonies. What, you haven't heard the story of Schwartzabend? I figured everyone would have at least noticed the economical problems by now. Allow me to explain...
Schwartzabend is the airship capital of our central nation, and was the first colony terraformed on New Earth by the United States of the Soviet. Its government consists of three noble houses and an elected president from their ranks. Everything ran smoothly until the Martian Masquerade. Yesterday, the president dropped dead in his ballroom best for no apparent reason. Fingers have been pointing at the ruling families, claiming that they poisoned Mr. Daughtail to gain a spot in the castle. The autopsy hasn't been completed yet, so we'll have to update on the cause of death later. This tragedy is affecting the lower classes as well, as working-man paychecks have been reduced by half, and nobody has the money for frivolities anymore. People have been reduced to selling their furniture, just to keep an empty home in their name. Artists, now completely useless, are starving to death on Schwartzabend's famous cobblestone streets! In these times, it seems like everyone must choose a side. Which one will YOU be on?
