Sikivu had been back a few days now, and had been trying to build his strength. Whilst he wasn't an old lion, he certainly wasn't in the prime of his life anymore, and the constant travelling and caring for the younger lions in his care had proved to be strenuous - but he was fit again now. A few days rest had worked wonders on his physical and mental fitness, and after dining on a huge meal Sikivu would have thought fit for a king, he made his way towards where the guards usually gathered. He'd walked the path a thousand times before...before the earthquake. Before his beloved had been cruelly snatched from him.

With a sigh, he continued onwards with new purpose, glancing up at a familiar caw from the skies. Fatiisha dove downwards, unfolding her wings to slow herself before accurately positioning herself on Sikivu's shoulder, with a friendly click of her beak. "Off to see the Guards?" she questioned, beginning to clean her feathers. Sikivu merely nodded - he was afraid of what he was going to find.

"It surely can't be that bad," Fatiisha commented, almost as if she'd read his mind. Sikivu glanced over to her, only to find her busy at work repositioning her feathers. He sighed again, still moving forwards. "We'll just have to wait and see."

After a morning of patrols Ngao had decided to return to the guard's area to rest. The patrols were becoming easier, almost natural now; a good majority of the pride she now knew by smell, feel, sound, and even pawstep count. Hofu always accompanied her, in case there was something unusual to be spotted visually. Today things had been peaceful. She had had only one tricky encounter since the events following the earthquake and for that she supposed she was grateful. Despite her improvement, she was heavily aware of her two handicaps.

She lay stretched out now against a large rock, letting the sun warm her back. This time of day had an oddly calming effect on her. The strong warmth of the sun rays almost made her feel as if she could sense the sun's brightness. Almost. Hofu, she knew, stood perched in a tree nearby, watching. When Sikivu drew near, she knew it before her companion even cried out; she had heard him coming. She lifted her head and turned her ears in his direction. The smell, it was familiar, but not recently so. For the moment, she was unsure who it was.

Was that her, up ahead? Fatiisha clicked her beak - the falcon clearly thought it was Ngao, and her sight was better than Sikivu's. My, the lionness had grown. Sikivu was surprised - of course, he hadn't expected her to still be the young adult she had been when the earthquake had struck. But she looked a lot older, a lot wiser. Perhaps it was the battles she'd faced, the experience she'd gained. She looked considerably older, and Sikivu found himself already questioning whether she actually was capable of running the Guard.

As he approached, her ears twisted in his direction, and any thoughts that she might be capable sank back into his mind as her horrible scars came into view. Her eyes were faded and dull, the harsh red lines dragged across her face - Ngao had sacrificed much for the pride, that was clear. She didn't speak, and Sikivu was sure that much be because she was waiting for an introduction. How else would she know who it was, whether it was him or...anyone?

"Ngao," he greeted her with a nod of his head, before realizing she wouldn't...be able to appreciate such a gesture. "It's...It's Sikivu," he spoke gently, suddenly wondering whether she'd actually remember him. It had been a long time, after all... Slightly irritated, Fatiisha also spoke up, "And Fatiisha."
