My First Splice, Advice?

I tried to do something similar and easy for my first splice. I think it went out pretty nice, but I don't think I had to do much for this splice.

Anyway, tips, advice? I heard someone say I also needed to use PNG instead of a JPEG file.

Aww, it's cute. <3 However, I can't give any advice, seeing as I started spriting myself, only a few weeks ago. X:

Hmm... oh, something about that.. blue paper thingie on it's head, the one on the right, seems a little odd, I can't see any reason, it just does? Maybe the shading? Or the size of it?
