Wouldn't it be better to pool resources into developing methods of interplanetary travel and colonization rather than invest all this effort on a planet that has such little (relatively speaking) time left? :O

Hoshioni have you ever left the city???? people are over concentrated theres no over pouplaution its a myth......sheesh You don't have to cover every square foot of the planet to be overpopulated, y'know. At this point, the human race is using more resources than the planet can replenish. We are overpopulated because we're consuming ourselves out of house and homeworld.

I'll be glad to contribute to everyone who doesn't like it here going somewhere else. Just remember that once you're gone, you're gone. No round trip tickets for a move like that!

[Kegan] Hominids have only been around for what, 15 million years? 6 Billion years is a lot of time. What's even funnier is homosapien has been around for an estimated 20,000 years of that 15 million and only until 6000 years ago were we capable of organizing the beginnings of true civilizations, no matter how rudimentary... Empire after empire will rise and fall. Technologies will replace ones we thought were cutting edge at the time. New doctrines will be superceded by what is we believe to finally be the truth, only to hopefully realize before our time comes that morally accepted behavior is circumstancial and can't be dictated by hundreds of iron-clad rules. What I hope is to only leave the impact of my will and ideas. Thousands of years from now, noone should find a trace of my body but a fertile patch of earth.
Granted one would believe it to be your responsibility to find a way to exodus earth, unless you are a scientist who is intelligent enough to help further our designs and technology, I would not worry over it. Every person alive right now MAY live one hundred years but that is a sigh in comparison to the time it would take for us to be capable of fleeing this planet. Plus you have to wonder, by the time we find somewhere habitable, are we capable of surviving the trip, or would we expire by the time we got there? Although planning ahead is a good suggestion, for now I would just invest in the teaching of permaculture and hydroponics. We got people already working on it, Fluffythepoo.

I was watching a great show yesterday which was talking about how there are plans to use greenhouse gas to warm up Mars and it should be habitable in 50 years or so if they succeed.

If we colonized another planet, the cost of travel would probably be so high that only the rich could afford to leave.
