Graham struggled against his harness, the toddler attempting with all his might to break free of the restraint. There was cake behind the class counter front just a few feet away and he had to have it. Sure the rainbow haired curio liked food and sure he was hungry a lot but this was different. Something deep inside him compelled Graham to try and get the cake despite all the obstacles in his way like the harness, his mother, the glass and the fact he had no money. He turned his blue and orange eyes to his mother again and whined softly "Pleeeease, I need cake."
Piper, seated comfortably at a corner table with her goat head rested upon it, snorted and shook her head. " You want cake you don't need cake, you won't die without it." The hiccup had no intention of filling her charge with sugar and pointless calories, well at least not of the cake kind. She'd already conceded to getting him a chocolate milk, it had the same calcium and vitamins as real milk, and plain donut, that was sugar enough and far cheaper. Even with Graham running scams with the older kids and bringing in a bit of of extra food and money she couldn't afford to spoil him too much.
Piper herself was enjoying a coffee and a slice of rhubarb pie. They were simple treats and the Chimera teen had purposefully chosen the pie becuase it was cheap due to local rhubarb being in season. Her life was harder now with Graham in it, she had to save more and she no longer had any free time between work and watching him. In return she had gained an ungrateful child who was looking at her like she was a b***h just for denying him a slice of cake. He had his good moments of course but currently Piper was none too fond of him.

Kay loved sweets...well, not really. He liked them just fine, he liked the rush of energy they gave him, but as a whole, they made him feel funny and then, if he ate too much of it, he got a headache. Despite that, he did still like it; because a lot of his lady friends did too, despite how much whining they did that he was going to get them fat. Well, whatever, he helped burn it off anyway.
He was just about to walk out with a little box of various cakes and sweets when he spotted a familiar goat head, and the girl attached to it. Huh, somehow...he didn't expect to see her here! Gaze dropping, he realized why...that there was the Curio child he'd pawned off on her! Oops. Grinning, he altered his path and wandered over to her table, holding the decorative box in one hand and waving with the other. "Yo!" The shirt-and-shoes-less teen said. "Remember me?"

Piper, distracted by Graham's antic hadn't even noticed the presence of the shirtless boy from the Curiosities shop until he was beside her. Her eyes widened in surprise and then narrowed upon recognition of him. " Ahh yes I remember you Xbalanque." There was a hint of irritation in her voice but neither the goat head nor any of Piper's snake tails made a move to show any real aggression towards him. "I believe you are responsible for this," she tilted her head in grahams direction, the toddler once gains focusing on the cakes a few feet away. Despite the words she use to describe her charge there was a momentary softness in Piper's tone. She might be frustrated by Graham at the moment but he was not the world's worst child to have been given by surprise.
She still thought it seemed rather unfair to allow allow her to walk out of the shop with a child to be in tow though. Piper was fairly sure the boy had known about it too, had known what really gave the place the odd air to it's atmosphere.

Ah yes. Xbalanque. The name he wasn't often called. He beamed at her despite himself, and especially despite the irritation he could clearly hear in her voice. His red gaze followed her line of vision, looking again at the rainbow haired child. Oh. Uh. Oops. Guess he'd been caught, eh? With an almost nervous chuckle, the teen leaned his weight to one foot, scratching the back of his head with one hand, the other on his hip.
"Eeh...Not me. The shop." Which was true enough; HE didn't saddle her with the kid. The item chose her, he was just being a delivery man. "Trust me, this is better than what could'a happened if you didn't take it." Kay seemed apologetic; he knew not all Guardians were happy sunshine and bubbles over having kids chucked at them. But it could be worse.
He knew it would be bad, but he didn't know WHAT would happen if a kid didn't end up in the home they wanted.
"Whats 'is name?" Subject change, slightly!
