The US Government's psychic spying program, codenamed STAR GATE, existed for almost three decades. It contributed to intelligence during the Cold War and the Iran Hostage Crisis. There are rumors that after the program was killed and declassified by the CIA in 1995 that it went underground, the exposure being a smokescreen.

Now for the discussion. Are you familiar with remote viewing and the government's development and use of it? How do you think this applies to the current global political climate? Do you think that the government still maintains psychic spies for intelligence support? Do you think they've made any new breakthroughs in psi that would allow for something more?

Certain elements of the Nazi command were interested in the occult. There really wasn't any psychic research (that I'm aware of) going on until the Cold War.

The story goes that the Soviet Union began to research psi because of a French story about a US telepathy experiment to communicate with a submarine which was below the polar ice cap. This French story was a hoax, but the Soviets didn't know that and they began researching psi. Due to fear of their being a "psi gap", the US began researching psi in turn.

I didn't really think this had much to do with conspiracy theories, although I'm pretty well versed in those too.
