Kay stretched his arms above his head, leaning backwards to stretch out his back. He was asked by Switch to go check on the shop, and today he actually decided to do it. Admittedly, he had been avoiding the shop ever since Roxy decided to dress up too much like an adult...it made him uncomfortable, as much as he loved playing with Roxy, his brain wasn't as innocent as it used to be. Dropping his arms to the sides, he caught sight of the shop, and made a b-line for it.
The blonde had grown into a minature blonde bombshell and to say the least she was loving her new growth. She had only shown it off to her Aunt and her brother and had gone out into the world to see if she could find anyone else she knew to show off too. It had met with an unclimatic end as she walked back home, in her rather high heels that no person in their right mind should want to wear.
The day had hot hot, so she shamelessly wore a bathing suit peiceshe was rather fond off her sunglasses sheilding her eyes from its glaring rays. Tilting her head she lowered her glasses to get a better look over them spotting a all to well known figure heading towards the Curio shop...to her home.
Part of her was angry at him...the other more than a smidge delighted to see him. The decision on weither she should try and jump him was instantanous as well her making a run for him. She could get angry at him later..right now she was just too happy to see him.
How she managed to run in those god aweful shoes was anyone's guess, perhaps she just had a lot of practice in them so it wasn't as big a deal.
"Still she clacked and clicked as she ran towards him and then lunged at him her arms out to wrap around him as best she could.
"Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!" she sang his name sounding actually not bad.
Nahual spotted Roxy well before Kay did, recognizing the blonde nuisance right away, despite her being bigger. He spat with a warning hiss, alerting Kay that someone was behind him. The teen was just about to turn around to see who it was when he was barrled into, stumbling forward a bit, his arms going to try and reach behind him to steady whoever it was that hit him. "Christ!" He cursed, looking over his shoulder and seeing a familiar bought of blonde hair...that was a little higher than he remembered. "Holy crap, Roxy!" He burst out, laughing a bit. He was waiting for her to let him go. "Long time no see, midget~"
Roxy smirked a bit the tip of her shoe going to step on Kay's toes lightly as it warning him. "I am not a midget you gaint.." she retorted as she gave him a hug despite herself before she released him and backed off some allowing him to regain his balance before she planted a hand on her hip. "Yes.. it has been a long time, " She echoed trying to look unperturbed by that information though it was easy to tell she was irritated. She didn't hide her emotions very well.
"Hey hey, that's playing dirty." He gasped as though offended when she stepped on his toes; it didn't really hurt, it was just a pressure, but the intent was certainly there. Once she released him, he spun around and wrapped his tattooed and scarred arms around her, pulling her into a tight hug against him. Oh, she certainly was taller! Bigger in general, he noted. That...was much better than the last time he saw her. Much, much better. Her irritation didn't pass by unnoticed, and he stopped the hug, his big hands on her shoulders, and leaned back far enough to look at her...naturally giving her a once-over. "What's wrong, Midget?"
The hug...she wanted to melt into that hug, it reminded her of all the times he gave her piggy back rides and let her ride on his shoulders...their sleepovers...everything. He smelt...so...good. That was something she hadn't noticed before...his scent. It was almost addicting. Still...she puffed out a cheek trying to not be swayed by Kay's charms. She couldn't help that she had a soft spot..okay a HUGE soft spot for Kay. And she couldn't help but like that he was giving her a once over....but she remembered..he didn't like her clothes. So rather suddenly the tight assemble shifted to something more... than just a bathing suit. It covered her entire body and was certianly not revealing.
"Nothing.." she lied trying to figure out the best way to put her words. She was annoyed....annoyed at having not seen Kay in a long time.
Kay's brow lifted when she shifted her clothes to something more covering...between that she her short reply, the dots connected. Ah...the last time they met, he'd been going on about her clothes. Sighing heavily, he let her go, pinching the bridge of his nose. Of course she would remember that, of course she'd be mad about that. But she didn't understand his side of the scenario, but he wasn't going to give that information up until he was sure that's what it was. Reaching out, he took her hand and headed towards the shop, or at least the back yard of the shop. Standing in the middle of the road wasn't right. "You don't have to lie, Roxy. C'mon, tell me what's wrong. I've got big shoulders, I can take it."
The girl looked as if she wanted to pull her hand away from his grasp...but she couldn't. It was ..so nice to have him here...and here she was being all stubborn about something in the past. She couldn't help it...she had been lonely without him around lonely and hurt since their last meeting had him all out of sorts.
"I'm not.." She protested as she was led around to the backyard of the shop, she eye'd those shoulders of his, wondering if she could still sit on them...even if it looked silly she was tempted to ask if she could try..
"You must be busy lately...I've hardly seen you around.." she tried to not sound annoyed...she was failing. Miserably at it.
"You are so." He challenged; if anything he was going to tease it out of her, that much was obvious. He was mostly relieved when she started to explain on her own, and he had to flinch at her words. "I'm sorry, Roxy." He said sincerely, still noting the irritation on her voice. "I've been...pretty busy, I'm sorry." He didn't let go of her hand, but he did stand in the shade with her, out of the blistering sun. "And...you don't really have to watch what you wear now...you didn't have to change."
She turned her head away from him though she looked at him from the corner of her eyes anyway. Roxy didn't let go of his hand either, at least she wasn't so angry to just lash out at him.
"You made a pretty big deal about it before...why the change of heart now?" She asked trying to sound unconcerned, her outfit didn't change despite the wanting to not be in such warm clothing.
She couldn't fault him for having life outside of seeing her...she wasn't the center of his world despite her thinking it should be. So she didn't dredge up the energy of getting mad at him for that just yet.
"Well..." Kay paused, scratching at his neck again, swallowing hard. Of course she'd ask that, why wouldn't she? Heh...but how to answer without scaring her, or coming off as a creep. "You're older now..." He said lamely. It really was the reason, but it sounded so lame when it was said out loud.
Caught off gaurd she looked at him giving him a raised eyebrow. "....That's the reason...?" The girl asked her red lips seeming to just look like a pout. "It's okay cause I am older?" She repeated sounding annoyed now, "You didn't seem to care before you grew so why was it suddenly NOT okay?" she demanded using her free hand to remove her sunglasses so her green gaze could show off how annoyed she was.
Once more, Kay found himself flinching. Every point she had was a very good one, and all of it very true. He continued to hold on to her hand, but at this point is was more because she wouldn't let him go, either. "Things...change when you get older." He explained, still at a loss for how to do it correctly. "And you didn't start wearing THOSE types of clothes until recently." He said, which was true; the outfits she showed him that night were very different from anything else she'd ever worn. "Do you know what a ***** is, Roxy?"
Roxy could of protested against the outfits. Gaga wore them! She was just doing what Mrrh had suggested and practiced those outfits. And what exactly did he mean by 'those'? Her outfit shifted, it was too hot to be wearing a lot of clothing right now. It was back to the black bathing suit number she had tackeled him in. His last question threw her off. "Y.eah...but I don't know how this..." She trailed off before she stared at him. "Rea...really Kay? that was why you stopped coming over??'
The Shaman watched as she connected the dots, looking defeated when she finally did. "Yes." He murmured, his red gaze still on her. "I don't think you would have understood it if I explained it then, and you were so clingy..." He gestured vaguely with his free hand. He didn't mind clingy, but with that physical age gap between them... "It was just easier to avoid you than to explain it and be a creep, let's put it that way."
Roxy looked baffeled. Rather in shock at this discovery, she looked away still holding his hand though she seemed rather subdued for a moment. The wheels turning in her head as she processed the information.
"I'm...still ..clingy..will that be alright?" She asked finally, "And...I like these types of clothes...will that be okay?" she asked as she really didn't want to have Kay avoid her forever.
She was talking slowly again, and what she said did not surprise him. Why would she have changed in the last little while? It wasn't like a growth spurt would put a one-eighty on her personality. "It's fine." He assured her, to answer both of her questions. There was a more manageable age gap between them now, he didn't feel as creepy as he did when she was still just a kid. Granted, he'd still hesitate or reign himself in, but not to the point of avoiding her. "Really, it's okay."
She gave a happy sigh, as she was enjoying the cooler clothes before she looked to him finally giving him a smile like she normally did.
"Alright, I'll let you off the hook this time, but pull that on me again and I swear I'll hunt you down and get you where it hurts." She threatened tightening her hand on his as if to indicate she was serious.
She talked slow when she was unsure of herself or the topic at hand. "So...? Like what you see?" she asked innocently enough though she was now very curious. If he had been having thoughts before...
Kay laughed, nodding in acknowledgement of the little threat. Yes yes, she could hurt him all she wanted, that was fine. From now on it'd be much easier for him to deal with, so he shouldn't have that problem again. At her question, he leaned back a bit, giving her another once over. "Yup, very nice. How the hell you walk in those is beyond me, but otherwise, it's nice."
Roxy gave a grin looking more and more like she normally did, bright and happy. "Lots and lots of practice I assure you!" She stated with a firm nod of her head, "I can even run in them...I tackeled you in this outfit." She explained with a giggle, "So...you've been busy! Tell me what you've been up to." The blonde asked as she looked and then tugged Kay to sit down with her in the shade.
Kay was nothing but impressed; running in those, quite the feat! "s**t, you're gonna break yer ankles one day." He grumbled, moving to sit in the grass as she pulled him to, one leg tucked in and the other propped up, hie free arm resting lazily across his upright knee. "Uhh..." Up to? Well, there was Kalyana, and the Sex with Kalyana, and the Blackouts that happened when Kalyana was angry and vengeful...then there were the one night stands he occasionally indulged in. "...Meeting new people, mostly?" He shrugged, not really wanting to tell her the complete truth. It was safer that way. "I saw Evari and Faris again...met this real cute little bird girl named Bug?" Shrugging again, he glanced over at her. "And you?"
Roxy couldn't help but feel jealous at how he phrased his going ons. "Oh been working on my singing...I'm trying to make it so I don't sound like a shrieking goose when I sing any other song that isn't Gaga.." She explained, what else had she been doing?
"Uh..Ger got bigger...and..he's been leaving me alone a lot...I didn't think I'd miss him being around twenty-four seven..but..I guess I got use to him always being there." She addmited, "Mrrh is hardly home either...and Silver comes and goes..." Roxy explained sounding like she had not really done much at all.

Kay chuckled, reaching over to ruffle her hair. "I think your shrieking goose impression is cute." He informed her in an amused voice. He listened to the rest, feeling a little guilty over certain things...and more than happy over others. Mrrh was barely at the shop? That was pretty awesome. Really awesome in fact. He couldn't place it, but he had a deep hatred of the preteen, and that was before he found out the hard way that Mrrh was a giant asshat. "I saw Ger at an arcade once, man that kid looks creepy now." He shuddered a bit; Gera still scared him somehow, despite the golem being younger than he. "But...I'm sorry for leaving you alone, it sounds like you've had it rough."
Roxy tightened her hold on Kay's hand as if silently agreeing with him. It had been rough, she hated to be alone..it was one of the worst things she ever experienced. She had survived it, though had a few bruises on her arms and legs from where she had tackeled Gera when he had come home.
"...An arcade?" She echoe'd sounding confused though she nodded her head in agreement about Gera looking scarier than he had before.
"Y..eah he has gotten a bit scarier...hasn't he?" She replied as she leaned against Kay. Why did things feel...weird now? Perhaps cause she was thinking over what Kay had said. Why he had avoided her. THe reason behind it. It made her face flush slightly, did he still have those thoughts? Chewing on her lower lip she looked up to him and seemed to be trying to debate something. Her bathsuit suit peice had been a one peice...but suddenly the cowel neck thinned and narrowed becoming a very plunging neck line. She was obviously seeing if Kay noticed and how he reacted.
"Yup, with videogames." Kay agreed with a nod, letting her lean against him. It felt...a little weird. Okay, really weird. That little girl he always pictured her as was very quickly fading, being replaced with...someone a little less innocent. He glanced down at her just in time to see her shift clothes to have the plunging neckline; sure she didn't have much there yet, but there was enough that he took notice, especially with the neckline. "...W...what are you doing?" He stammered without meaning to, swallowing hard. He really, really wanted to cling to that little girl image he had of her, but it was getting harder and harder to do. What surprised him most, was that deep down, he didn't mind the change in the way he viewed her.
Roxy giggeled, at least some parts of her handn't change din her growth she lifted a hand to poke at his nose. "Your blushin.." She teased as she looked at him brightly. She had always adored Kay, he was her hero. The one person who always could make her smile. If he had asked her she wold of said yes to almost anything he proposed.
"Testing out somethin..I may not have much in the way of pillows.." she gave him a wink as pillows had been the word he had used when she was little to describe breasts. "But I think the right clothes could help."
Kay grumbled something incoherent, rubbing at his face with his free hand. Blushing...how dare he blush! Why wasn't his skin a few shades darker, then he wouldn't blush! Damn his face."If you're testing what I think you're testing, you don't have to, you know." He sighed, leaning down to press a little kiss to the top of her head...before he headbutted her lightly. "It's not all about the 'pillows', yanno." Roxy was special, he didn't want her to be or think she needed to be like one of the girls he occasionally slept with.
She was watching him intently as he rubbed his face the way he spoke and then he kissed her temple and her lips pouted a bit. She loved getting kisses from him as a child..so why was she mildly dissapointed this time around?
"It isn't?" She asked drawing her legs up and shifting so her shoes were now just slip on soled shoes. "Guys always seemed to make a big deal about them...." she tilted her head and leaned her head into her arm that was laying on her knees. She looked to Kay her green eyes drinking him in.
"So what is it then?"
"Well...there are guys that do, but the decent ones care about the other things." Kay himself was one of those guys when it came to the flings he had; but when it meant something meaningful, they were really unimportant to him. The flings were more or less entertainment. He felt guilty about it on occasion, but as a whole he couldn't help it right now. "Well...personality, similar interests, whether or not you can have fun with them, trust them...you know, everything else?" Yes, instill that train of thought in her, don't let her be like those other girls he slept with.
The blonde looked at him a long time before she thought on his words. "I match a lot of those things.." She points out with a soft smile, "Though I guess I should stop trying to tackle you...before one of us gets hurt.." She laughed as she rubbed a bruise on her arm idly. "I tried it on Gera once...he is hard.." Roxy continued before she fiddeled with a peice of hair going silent a moment. Oh...Kay had always like that she talked.
"I guess this means no more sleep overs?" She inquired looking at him pouting a bit.
"Yeah, but Gera's like getting hit by a car; I was wondering what those bruises were from, now I know." Sighing in relief (it meant he didn't have to beat anyone up), he shrugged. "I...don't know?" Honestly, he didn't. He didn't really trust his body, and he certainly didn't want to scare her should a certain part of him rebel. "We'll have to see, I guess." Scratching at his cheek, he shifted his weight to lean back on his hands, slouching comfortably. "I guess...there's a lot of playing by ear?"
Roxy moved a hand over to poke at his leg, seeming to be a trifle dissapointed by the answer even if it made sense. Why though? Why did she suddenly want to be with him all the time? It was similar and yet different from before. BEfore it was cause he was lots of fun and he treated her well. Now ..he was still fun but she saw him differently..she guessed it was like how he saw her differently.
"Yes yes..that is a good idea..we should go for kareoke sometime..I hear it is fun. We could invite a bunch of people..." She offered trying to take her mind off of the weighty feeling in her stomach.
"I've never done karaoke before." Kay admitted; sure he'd been to the karaoke bars, but he never sang anything. He was a really bad singer, he had a very poor voice. Shifting his weight once more to one hand, he reached up and poked her nose, brushing his rough fingers across her smooth cheek. "Sounds like fun...we don't have to invite others if you don't want to."
She felt her heart skip a beat and it was her turn to blush. He wanted to go with just the two of them? "S..sure.." she managed to get the words out even if they seemed relunctant to leave her throat. The only reason she had offered to invite others was cause of what he had said before. "I promise to sing songs I am no good at...we can be terrible together." She giggeled as she rubbed her nose before she reached out and pocked his nose back being a brat as she grinned.
Kay smiled; oh good, she was going to be horrible right along side of him. Trusting his body for now, he waived her over, patting his lap as if inviting her to sit on him. She used to sit on him all the time, now shouldn't be any different! At least, thats what he thought; she was still growing up fast, and that perplexed him a little. He didn't start caring about any of that until he was nearly a teenager! "Why are you in such a rush to grow up, midget?"
Roxy didn't seem to hesitate to get closer to him moving to position herself on his lap so she could lean against him. "Rush?" She echo'd trying to look up at him, "...I guess I just don't want to be left behind.." She joked as she reached up to poke his cheek..or at least she had been aiming for his cheek. SHe thought she may of hit his lip. She didn't tell him to stop with the nickname. He had always called her that...and as along as she was shorter than him it would probably stick. Roxy honestly didn't think of anything about sitting on his lap..in barely what could be called clothes, she shifted trying to get comfertable. Right..his lap shrunk since she had grown.
"You're not being left behind...really, take your time, there's no rush, I swear. If you rush, you'll probably regret it later." Despite how long it had taken him to grow up...he somehow felt rushed. But then again...he had no other choice. Roxy, however, had a choice...he wanted to make sure that she made the right one for her. He realized a little too late that having her on his lap like this was...probably not the best of idea. A horrible one, actually. It didn't help his 'keep Roxy from growing up too fast' mentality. Luckily, his body didn't betray him, and he just grumbled under his breath.
Why wasn't it as comfertable as she remembered? She tried not to wiggle too much as her new weight probably was crushing Kay. "Hmm?" She blatantly ignored his warning to not rush, it was hard to not want to..older teens got to go more interesting things. Go out, be your own person. Stuff like that. "Kay..." She started though she hadn't wanted to bring it up she took his hand and pulled it forward so she could look down the length of his arm. "You...have more scars.." She observed with a furrowed eyebrow. "What have you been doing to yourself? Running into bramble bushes?"
"Hmm?" He hummed, honestly worried at her tone of voice. He let her lift his hand, and when she did he realized what she was going to point out...he wasn't surprised when the question followed the observation. What should he say? That he sleeps with a woman that makes him black out? The same woman he couldn't and didn't want to escape, until his debt was paid to her? He couldn't tell her that, she'd worry too much...and ignorance was bliss. "Couldn't tell ya, Midget." He started nonchalantly, not sounding worried about it in the least. "I just wake up with 'em, maybe I fight in my sleep." He chuckled a little darkly. It was obvious he did, but sleep meant two different things here. "Don't worry, it's fine, I'm fine, everything's peachy. 'Sides, I'm not the one with the bruises." He pointed out, taking her hand back to very gently kiss one of the smaller bruises on her arm.
