CartiganMrryl Ummm... Cloud's much more psycho than Sephy... I mean - he fabricated 90% of his past, Sephy just wasn't told anything. Oh, and a Nodachi(Masamune) isn't all that much bigger than a Zanbato(Buster Blade)... I mean... COME ON! In pure heft, the Zanbato is more lethal, as the Zanbato was MADE to cut through a horse and rider, including the riders armor. The Nodachi was made to cut through a person's armor, maybe. It was more made to look imposing as hell, Nodachi soldiers were sent in to break enemy lines. But yeah, Sephy and Cloud really WEREN'T that different, I play DnD, you can make them both pretty easily. They can (in essence) be played really similarly, as their motivations are only different in that Sephy wants to become a God, and save the earth. Cloud wants revenge and to save the earth. I have to agree with this person. Cloud is much more psycho than Sephiroth. Sephiroth realized what he needed to do to (in his eyes) to protect the world almost immediatly. While Cloud took til' halfway through disc 2 seemingly just to remember that he's not some dead guy that he decided to steal the identity of. I also play D&D and both are extremely easy to make, as well as extremely similar. In my opinion, you can't find two more similar people even in twins.

i think that cloud was only there to care about himself before he avtually met Tifa and everybody else but i would have to sephiroth is actually crazy because he changed vincent who was actually his fault and in a way he is actually stupid because he was trying to reach the holy land and bring back the ancients but actually round up killing the only other ancient that was left alive and then there was Jenova i mean she was actually sephiroth and clouds mother but then why was he using her to gain control of the planet so i would have to say that cloud nor sephiroth are they greeatest but the power they both wield

The true diffrence between Cloud and Sephiroth are their motives. Cloud's motives are that of self realization, Sephiroth's are that of ultimate power. good point though.

Hmm but sephiroth never said that he was out to protect the planet. sephiroth wanted to harm the planet, if he had wanted to help it i dont think the planet would have tried to stop him.

CartiganMrryl Silver-gatzer are you joking!!!???? they are totally different! cloud waants to protect, sephiroth wants to destroy. that simple. oh, and at least cloud has friends. Firstly Silver, they aren't really all that different: That's the point of the game. The original author of the plot wanted to show the contrast between two relatively similar characters. Sephiroth wants power, not to merely destroy, and Cloud only REALLY wants to protect the world so as to continue his existence.(in the beginning, at least) Also, it isn't really all that simple... so don't be mean. Accually, in the beginning cloud thought sephiroth dead, he didn't care for the world in the beginnig at all, all he cared about was getting paid and after he found sephiroth alive, to rid him off the planet to take revenge. Also sephiroth and cloud are very different. Sephiroth believed that he was superior because of him being an ancient and thought that he was capable of being god with the help of his mother, aka jenova. He wanted to take revenge on the non-ancient people who destroyed them and create the perfect world in his vision. Cloud was struggling with himself to reclaim himself. Sephiroth wanted to recreate the world and him become a god to save it. Cloud wasn't that big on saving the earth.

cloud did'nt care about the world all he wanted was to impress tifa and sephrioth was am person who realized that he wasnt who he thought he was and went insane

SuperSeion But also Sephiroth is insane and about 300x cooler than cloud.. Plus his names cooler.. And he carrys a bigger sword.. Whats better than that!? Nothing I tell you, NOtHING.. no cloud is the much cooler

Are you guys forgeting that cloud is made partialy from the dna of sep and geneova along with zack and himself. Cloud is not cloud he is a combo of a bunch of cool powerfull and.... gross things put together. so cloud and sephiroth are partialy the same person genetically speaking

Heh, sounds like Sephiroth might say....
You, although they are similar in many ways in that they fight for what they believe in, they have differences in them.
Sephiroth fought for his "mother" Jenova, whether or not it was wrong, and had no regard for anyone around him in the game.
As for Cloud, he fought with good intentions, and was there for his friends when they really, really needed him.

Chris Silverwind Mr. Ben cloud hasnt got an identity as such hes just a clone and an ex soldier he was zack well took zacks life but then realized hes someone different but as an unsuccessfull clone wow hes good i mean he kicks sephiroths a**. i think that eveyones points and opinions are very well thought of and very accurate i mean cloud and sephiroth could be brothers but also could be worst enemies. but cloud is way cooler than sephiroth and the buster sword kicks masamunes a** any day To clear up some misconception.. cloud is NOT a clone. He started out as a troubled lonely little child who was maturing faster then other kids his age. After years of being shunned he wanted to stand out, he went out for SOLDIER. However he failed because he wasnt strong enough and had to be a foot soldier. But after the Reactor Incident considering luck let him kill sephiroth, Hojo used Cloud as a medium to test Jenova cells further. These jenova cells however allowed sephiroth's spirit to begin manipulating Cloud until near the end of the game.
Well...actually...Cloud WAS strong enough to enter SOLDIER, but he didn't have the mental stablitity.

Okay people Cloud was not made in a lab. It's been said a few times before. He was born to a normal, human mother and he was experimented on and given Jenova cells afterwards. And he didn't let Sephiroth kill Aeris. He wanted to stop, but was unable to because of the Jenova cells. >.<
