I hadn't really realised or thought of making this discussion before, but I realise now it's rather important. What will the comic structure look like? What are the guidelines? I know we touched this topic briefly before, but we hadn't gone in much detail.

Basically my initial idea was to create a set-up with you guys, such as we have been doing (back-story and initial scenario) and then let you guys go from there. This does give you guys give you free reign on how the story could end up, it doesn't give much structure either. It has come to my attention that there needs to be a balance between freedom and structure since we don't want people being fustrated and want to give up which is the least of my intentions.

So basically, I don't want to whole story planned out in advance. This would be basically like a collaboration of disastric proportions since there are already many story ideas we could go along with, but I don't think too many people will want to make something that will be planned and predicted in advance if this is going to be a comic game, rather than a collaboration of sorts (which you do have to plan everything in advance). The goal is to be able to be spontanious, and not being able to predict the story's end.

This is why we were only coming up with a basic scenario. The possibilities are endless, but so may be the potential problems. So here's my idea to mediate between those who want freedom but also to those who feel they need some form of structure to move on. So here we go:

We'll start out with the basic scenario that we have already created, the back-story and characters we've decided up.

Then I'll set-up a scenario for each chapter and it is up to all of us to figure how they will accomplish (or fail) to reach the scenario goals. For example, I would set up chapter one for the specific goal of the main guy having to escape jail or something to that effect. So this chapter woul be dedicated to either getting or failing, to get out of jail. This gives the freedom for everyone to decide whether it works or not depending on each individual page. Depending on how the chapter goes, a new scenario is born. Suppose he did escape, but now he has to figure out what his next move is, to return to his country or explore the castle for a quick example. And so on.

Yeah, that was at the top of my head, the idea for the chapter might not necessarily be what I've said here, but is merely an example.

Anyway, this way, we'll have a sort of structure, but at the same time giving members the liberty to be creative and decide how the chapters end. This would also turn me into a mediatior, a guide of sorts throughout the whole process. Since I'd be deciding that a chapter seems to end and another begin and what the scenario is going to look like. Maybe that's expected of me or not, I have no clue how you guys see me as right now with the story's involvement, but this would have to become an expecation of everybody before joining in. If we were to go with this.

I wouldn't try to take control of the story or anything, like leading you on, since I'm up to any sort of twist of fate within the storyline. I'd just be a general guide.

If you have a comment, let me know, or if you have another suggestion. I'd like to know sooner rather than later since everyone seems to be itching to start. As am I.

This actually sounds quite clever. I'm all for it! Just to be clear, however, what EXACTLY is the basic scenario we're going with here? Is it just, "Boy of light meets Girl of dark in medeival-like world," or is it a little bit more detailed than that?

I'm so itching to start that I broke out in poison ivy. Or maybe that's just because I fell in poison ivy....

Ouch! I hope you get better soon!

As for basic scenario, I'm going to write a paragraph or so to start us off with what we've planned out so far and then the first page will be up for grabs.

I'm pretty excited to start too. It took long enough and I'm glad we got as far as we did.

Oh yeah, I finally have a regular internet connection again. My bro brought his computer from his grandparents house over for my dad to use...or well the family. It's pretty useful in any case. I'm psyched!

Alright. I just got through that massive chunk and I must agree with the above - it's a great idea and you seem to have given it much thought. When it starts up, I'll be there! c:
