Greetings EEW Universe! Kyle Holstrum here, with another article about none other then EEW's Heavyweight Champion, Johnathan Riker.
Now as you know by now, I am a huge Riker fan, every piece I've done for EEW.com has been about The Nightmare, Johnathan Riker. However don't let my fandom fool you. Through he is my favorite Wrestler in EEW, I am not biase, and do enjoy other EEW Greats, such as Cartwright, Landry, and Jed. Hell, even Chrono gets my stamp of approval. So anyways, I am to give my thoughts and opinion about the recent happenings and past achievements of Johnathan Riker. So let's begin.
___________________________________________
We begin at EEW's One Year Anniversary. Shadow had just started his legendary title run, Heyman & Foley had they're issues, and C4 ruled the EEW. Within in the turmoil came the debut of a promising superstar, that had already help establish another federation, GWWF, and that superstar was none other then Johnathan Riker. Debuting against one of EEW's finest Joshua Danielson, Riker showed the world what was to come, as he put The Punisher away with and expertly applied Blackout Submission. For months Riker slowly climbed the ladder, proving to management that he isn't just another name. After enough wins Johnathan was given a shot at the EEW X-treme Champion, who at the time was EEW's Shredder. A name which fans now couldn't really tell who he was. None the less, Riker defeated him in dominating fashion as Shredder too was just another victim to fall to Riker's Blackout submission finisher.
Claiming the EEW X-treme title is what sealed the deal for me as a fan. Cause after that night, everytime Riker fought or even spoke he proved to me and many others why he was the champ. You see the X-treme Championship fell under 24/7 rules, but due to Riker's past matches in which he showed zero to no mercy to his opponents, few would dare challange him for it. Thus the reputation Riker had from the other superstars rubbed off on to the EEW Universe and it's followers. It became apparent that Riker was no one to trifle with. As the months went by, Riker's streak grew, going from one month to two, from two months to four, and from four months to a year. In total Riker held the X-treme Title for 1 year, 3 months, and 28 days. A massive achievement especially when the title was up for grabs 24/7.
During his reign as EEW's X-treme Champion, Riker was drafted as one of EEW's superstars to help establish the new show of EEW, EEW Drown. As one it's major players, Riker helped to make Drown what it is today. Geuding with the likes of Marxx, King, KJ Newfoundland, Sanosuke, and even EEW's Father, Paul Heyman! Speaking of Heyman, Riker's feud with him is what really showed what the fans meant for Riker. Claiming Paul quit on the fans, and EEW, Johnathan was determined to show Paul the error of he's ways, in his own misunderstood way. However Paul wasn't having it, and sicked the recently returned, KJ Newfoundland on him. Which brings me to the love child of Johnathan Riker. Riker concocted a match in which winning, by escaping the cage would make lesser men wince in pain. I'm talking about none other then, The Riker's Island Match. In that match, Riker showed how far he would go to prove his point and please the fans, as just before the end of the match, he set KJ ablaze. Still holding on to the X-treme title, the fans and myself including, really began to understand Riker. He wasn't there to showboat, or gloat about how great he was. No, he simply did the matches he was handed, spoke his mind, and nothing else. Which in reality is what every EEW Fan wants. A wrestler that isn't there for themselves but there for them.
Continuing on, Riker was set to face EEW's Original X-tremist, in Sanosuke, the very same man that brought EEW the X-treme Championship. The two feuded for a couple months. During this time Chrono has taken full control of EEW, by taking out both Mr. Jayden, and Mr. Barker. Chrono was on the rampage as he wanted to control every aspect of EEW, done to the very last superstar. If they didn't conform they pay the price. Unfortunately Riker was not one to conform, and not wanting to confront him head on, he dug up Riker's history and find a dirty little secret. He had skipped out on his Mandetory Teraphy sessions, and so he called Savii Salagarie and had him committed. THhe very same night he was suppose to defend his X-treme Title against it's original owner, Sanosuke. Literally being dragged away, Riker was stripped of his title, and Chrono's plan to control everyone was one step closer to fullfillment. However the very day, Riker's reign ended it came apparent how deeply involved the fans and other EEW Superstar were with Johnathan Riker. It was nearly six months Riker was gone, his vicious, and unrelenting style was absent from the EEW. EEW.com was full of Riker updates, and Superstars, and fans aliked protested Chrono's decision on committing Riker.
For months Riker relentlessly applied to Dr. Sofen's request and began to conform, less violent, and confrontational. Calm... Riker was released in October 2009 at EEW's Explicit Content Pay-Per-View. To the applause, and appreciation of the crowd, and a few other superstars. One not including Jed, as he was determined to deface Riker's reputation, and prove he was a politicing superstar. Hard to believe coming from a man that barely talks to the crowd, let alone EEW Management. Anyways, at Explicit Content, Riker returned to face Jed. And as if he wasn't gone a day, Riker showed no signs of Ring Rust, and defeated Jed much like he did any other opponent, with his Blackout Submission finisher. After defeated Jed and reestablishing himself, Chrono was still running amuck in EEW, and Cartwright was determined to end it. He gathered up a team to go against Chrono at Carnage Rulez. In which the foundation of EEW was shook when Jed SHOT Chrono. Still the World Heavyweight Title, Riker once again had to show the his fellow superstars that this is for the fans not to be taken personal. Finding Jed's action cowardice, Riker taunted Jed and told his fellow future opponents that it's not about them, catchphases, titles, and gimmicks. It was about the fans.
At House Party 2010 Riker earned his crowning achievement in EEW, winning the World Heavyweight Title. Thus establishing Riker as one of the Major Players in EEW, and having his name remembered thoughtout the history wrestling as one of EEW's Heavyweight Champions. Only 7 other people can claim that title as EEW Champion. Not many when compared to other titles within the Industry. Having won the EEW Heavyweight Title, it showed that not only was Riker one of EEW's great but that he karma is on his side as fighting for a right and truthful cause has awarded him the title, and a place in the history books. And only recently have the fans realized that Riker is not a wrestler, as he has stated before but an Entity brought forth to retain balance in a chaotic federation. He wasn't someone kid growing up emulating other wrestlers. No, he was created. Created by the consciencousness of EEW itself!
EEW is not a federation, but a presences. It is here for the fans, and when others plotted to destroy it's balance, and disturb it's natural order it brought forth The Entity to bring an equalibirium. Johnathan Riker is The Entity of EEW.
