It was like an addiction, exploring. No, more like treasure hunting. Yes, that sounded much more appropriate. But she didn't know where she was going to be honest, other than away from the packlands yet again. Down the mountain she trodded with her spirits high despite the increased heat! What was a little bit of sun to her, huh? Yes, she liked the moon more, but the sun had its own little merits - like providing much more light by which to find shinies by. Yet despite that, she was having so little luck, it wasn't fair . . .

It made Li Ming consider going to a human camp again to find another beautiful stone, or a necklace, or something! Her hoard was hardly a hoard if all she had was this necklace bout her neck. "No offense, Jade," she uttered quickly to it with a little grin as she moved, keeping her paws up to avoid scuffling against the rocks. The green-stoned pendant remained her closest friend to this day, and at times she wondered what happened to the guy she had done the heist with - and then she'd quickly forget about him all over again as something else stimulated her senses to investigate.

She had considered briefly to ask Orion along, but . . . she wanted some alone time this time after their last journey. For right now, she found herself near a particularly grassy-filled slope overlooking a river. Hmm . . . a drink wouldn't be a bad idea right about now.

Night and Day. That's what they had always called him. But Tiberius fancied himself a complete picture, a pink sunset, giving in and perishing to the blackness and the stars of the night. It was a much more accurate analogy.

He was wandering through a half dream world, the booming voice in the back of his mind barking incomprehensible orders to the darkest recesses of his thoughts. This way, that way, kill this, bathe in the blood and eat like you need to. And he did need it, this beast, and somewhere within him he loved it. Slowly consumed by the monster beneath, and he offered it no resistance anymore. Muzzle stained black from the dried blood, forepaws covered in it as well.

What had he eaten? Where was he? The ghost of a girl had led him here, and he was so disconnected. Normally his mind wasn't like this, normally he was so clear.

Can you hear the sound?

The sick sixth sense hissed a whisper in his blackened blue ear. "No offense, Jade." The softness of the words replayed over the tendrils of his conscious mind. Which way? A river was deafening him, roaring water keeping him from pinpointing the direction the voice had come from. His body drew him toward a grassy overlook, a slow pull that started at his nose and trickled down his back, through his tail.

Was it a scent he picked up on the wind? Tiberius couldn't tell, but if he had to guess, there was a female wolf somewhere nearby. Carefully he scented the air, the ground. Forest and grass and flowing water, and the hint of a she-smell indeed, there it was. The sunrise and star pelted wolf stepped out into the open, his eyes searching for what could have made the sound and the smell which had drawn him to this place.

The more she moved, the more edgy she began to feel. Was the forest different for some reason? Nope, she didn't see or smell or hear anything odd, no inexplicable silence or rolling thunder from the horizon to backup the odd feeling she was getting in her gut about things. Not even so much as a stray cloud or anything! "Huh. Maybe I ate something . . ." she mumbled to herself, the river in sight. Still, she threw a look over her shoulder and though for a moment she saw something glittering pink.

Pink! Some sort of odd flower? She couldn't smell it if so, not with her current position upwind of it. Still weird . . . Well, she wouldn't deny her thirst while the suspicion was just there being harmless, so Li tilted her head down and drowned her thirst in several hefty gulps of water. When the odd feeling at the back of her neck didn't go away, she frowned and turned towards where she had though she had seen the "pink flower". "Hey um, anyone there?" she called, feeling stupid.

The closer he got, the more his blood pounded in his ears and the voice took over for him. It relayed what hit his ears to his mind, and though it was in reality Tiberius who was hearing and seeing, it was the other side of his mind which was interpreting. A streak of orange across a green landscape, the clear and blue and granite backdrop of the river. His senses were overloaded, everything was there and yet, for just a few seconds, the orange female was the center of his world. More soft words relayed themselves through his ears and across his mind, tendrils of words and thought that never quite bridged the gap that was insanity.

She wants to know if you're here. Show her.

Tiberius heard the order. He resisted only a moment before the monster ate his mind. Blue to purple to pink fur bristled, from the back of his neck to the start of his tail. Night and day burst from the foliage, the avatar of ferocity. Ears up, fangs bared at her. Flash of white teeth like the stars on his pelt.

I am here.
"I am here."
What can I do for you?
"What can I do for you?"

Words relayed that he hadn't quite willed himself to speak, and then Tiberius simply grinned like a mad man, shattered pieces of a cackle threatening to break free from his bared muzzle.

Like any sane wolf, the sound, the sight, the very presence of the disturbance approaching made her stiffen defensively. Pink became purple, and purple became blue, and teal and white and yellow and - spirits above and below, what was she looking at? Some odd specimen of sun and moon - ohspiritstherewasamoonstaringather, baring its fangs and for all intents and purposes looking ready to . . . to eat her? No, that was a silly thought! Wolves couldn't possibly eat wolves, that was unsanitary!

No seriously, that moon. The situation looked suddenly dangerous, and for some reason Li Ming's mind was fixated upon that one marking. Like some ungodly blank smile on a rather snarly face. It was so odd, she actually cracked an odd sort of grin at the imagery. On the inside, she trembled like a pup.

"Well, um, you could cool your heels for one," Li said breezily, the odd half-smile tacked on and refusing to leave for some reason. The smile versus the snarl, the calling for a stranger and receiving a beast, the sun and moon! Who'dve thunk so many opposites could clash together at once - it was impossible not to grin a little at it. "I'm not looking for a fight today, didn't mean to startle and all. Nice pelt there, mister. Rockin' the pink there~"

He was standing ready to launch himself at her and the most she could think about was commenting on his fur. What next, the weather?

"Really hot day out too. You looking for the shade like I am?"

Yeah, the weather. Good solid topic, the weather.
