Now, I hope you guys weren't discourage by the direction the story is going. Leave some input, or a paragraph (to continue the story) all together if you want.
Please address any questions or comments you might have in here... I know, it's a bit late considering Arumunus and Shaely left comments on the story itself already. I just didn't think the story was gonna go as far as me and Toosh have planned... so I though I'd better start a thread for comments regarding it after all.

For the people who are planning to join in:
Sylvia is 14 and two years away from her Second Naming Day where she will be considered an Adult and able to take on the responsibility of governing her people without the aid of a Regent.
Sylvia's family, the Royal Family, was slaughtered to the last. The lonly reason she wasn't killed along with them was because she was still on the Empires farthest holding, training as befitted her rank. Warriors to protect one's self are all very well but they cannot be there all the time.
Her absence was the only thing that saved her.
Messengers from the four Great Houses came to take her back. On her way, she learnt the devasting news: the Royal House has been virtually decimated... that's why she's such a deafitist at the moment - she's convinced herself so much that she's alright now she doesn't realise how bad she feels... hence the bouts of tear then anger, then resignation... she's going through the stages of grief without knowing it.
In the mean time... the Four houses are arguing over who should be the regent until she comes of age...
There is no true need for a Regent since she's aonly one year and eleven months away from her Second Naming (only those of high station on their respective houses could ever have a Second Naming... and only the priest and priestesses go through Third Naming -this is known to be painful).
so.... for this part of the story.... I want Sylvia to go through the stages of grief (disbelief, denial, anger and at length acceptance)... for the Four Houses (otherwise known as The Towers) to finally agree on creating a council for Queen Sylvia - one member from each of the Towers and one from each of the thirteen lower houses....)
That should take about a year to agree on... and another 6 months to put together..
The world is not medieval... technology was made to elevate the human suffering as well as human labour... a gun is unheard of... think Japanese caste; just on the 20th Century.... and because the whole country is peaceful, there is no doubt that the Enemy is beyond the ocean... whomever ordered the death of the Royal house....
Duels are still very much alive... just with swords (sorry, I have a thing for swords).
If you wish, you take the role of one of the Towers... Think of the name... what their crest would look like... and all the rest...
For my reasons, which i cannot put to words just yet, the Royal House has no realy name. They are just The Royal House. it's as if by attaining greatness, one cannot carry one's past. The Royal House has stayed with one Family for almost three thousand year now.. only the scholars even know their true name. Whether it's forbidden to speak of it or not, no one is really sure. But it has become a tradition.
got any more questions; ask them... I'm sure i've missed something... and I might also have contradicted myself on some points...
