PhiferWolf
Silver eyes watch over a pond of chill water, a lone mountain gazelle wading out to the shore. Large white paws hung over the cliff side as the large feline let out a soft groan. "Zat is za forth one today. If I did not know better, I zink zat zese gazelle have a death wish," he mused as he watched his latest prey get away.

Still hungry, it was not uncommon for snow leopards like himself to go without food for a while. However, they manage to survive out here in the cold mountains. With such a thick coat, it was easy to live up here but because of the rocky terrain, hunting was difficult and, in itself, deadly. Vzor has lived this long and he planned to continue doing so.

Climbing back up the jagged side of the mountain, he could ear the bleeping of the young mountain goats that reigned over him above, the ram's beady eyes watching down on the white-silver now leopard roam below. His long tail kept him balanced up here and with his coat, it kept him hidden. Down below were the forested areas with the bears and the tigers and creatures that would find him prey than competition. And with his coat, he'd stick out like a white cat in a black room. Up here, he was safe and masterfully a hunter

... until those damned gazelle decide to take a leap of faith off a mountain.

Ashtiel Pantheres
Raazya's belly rumbled with hunger, her red eyes opened wide as she scanned the rocky outcroppings above her. Mountain goats roamed these treacherous shale shelves, their cloven feet far better at gripping the slippery stone. Her fur coated paws slipped and slid, but still she managed to hunt them.

Although her fur stood out starkly against any snow, the red was dark enough to catch the color-muted eyes of the goats off-guard, if she moved slowly enough. And having been on her own for two years now, she had learned much in the art of stalking the creatures of this inhospitable land.

Never taking her eyes from the ewe 30 yards above her, munching on some tough mountain scrub, the snow leopard moved with insanely slow steps, her long, thick tail balancing her perfectly on every rock she climbed, the pads of her feet cushioned by the thick, insulating fur. So focused was she, that the femme didn't even notice the silver-coated male . . .

PhiferWolf
Bracing himself, he glanced at a shelf that was a little higher than his normal leaps, but it was the fastest way back up to higher ground where he could hunt properly. After chasing the last prey, he had let loose some of the rocks that would have made it easier for him to climb back up. Loading the springs in his stocky legs, the male shot himself upward, hitting himself against the side of the shelf, managing the forepaws to scramble over the ledge. "Yebat..." Vzor murmured to himself as he scrambled to get onto the ledge.

Countless times has he found himself in this sort of predicament and nine times out of ten, he often fell and hurt himself. Curse this mountain. Curse these shelves. Curse it-

Ears perked and silver eyes watched as something from the corner of his eye caught something moving. Yebat, vat is it now?... Another blasted beast to push me off? Unmoving, the silver-white male latched himself to the side of the ledge, hoping whatever moved wasn't some prey beast that was going to be bold and push him off the damn ledge just like last week. It wasn't until he got a better look to see it was something much bulkier and furrier than some prey beast.

A female.

Ashtiel Pantheres
Closer and closer she prowled, only letting her eyes leave her prey to make sure her foot placements would keep her utterly silent. In these mountains, one tiny shifted pebble could sound like a boulder crashing from the heights.

10 yards up, the ewe continued to munch, ears twitching here and there, her tail flicking relentlessly as most prey animal's tended to twitch. Just a few yards closer, and she would be within leaping distance.....

Movement in her peripheral made her freeze, crimson eyes flicking to the side even as her entire body remained unmoved. If any of the goats spotted her now, her careful stalking would be ruined.

Silver-white spotted fur made her eyes widen, and she realized that a watchful ram hadn't spotted her, ready to give the alarm to his herd. No, it was a male....a big male. A male of her species....something she had never seen before, having been raised by her lone mother.

Panic made her heart suddenly pound, and she fought to keep her composure. Was the male hunting her? Did she interrupt his hunt? Were these his lands, in which case she had been caught trespassing, an offense her mother had warned her severely about.

The very tip of her tail gave an involuntary twitch.

Maybe he hadn't noticed her....

PhiferWolf
It was not too often he crossed females of his species up here. Such a large mountain range, it was unlikely to meet one and more so one that would survive long enough. Then again, those females he did manage to meet, usually didn't want to see him long after meeting him. However, that is story for another time.

Quickly glancing carefully around, he noticed something in a distance away; an ewe. Ah, so this female was hunting and here he was dangling on a ledge hoping not to fall back down and get himself hurt.

Seems like there something more important here...

"Pssst, vill you help me up?" She blantly asked, staring right at the smallish female. He did not care for whatever it was she was doing, but at this moment, he could feel his mass was slowly pulling him down. Vzor made a few scrambled scrapes to keep himself up successfully.

Ashtiel Pantheres
She blinked at his words, and the accent they held. But more so that he was asking her to help him . . . not fall off a ledge? Inwardly she snorted a giggle, but frowned at him, then looked back at the ewe. Her dinner was in jeopardy . . . and her belly rebelled against the thought of abandoning the food that was soooo very close . . .

Frowning in consternation, she growled and moved quickly, but just as quietly, towards the not quite flailing male.

"A leopard falling off a ledge . . . nonsense, and yet here I am . . . my dinner . . . go hungry again," he heard her say as she mumbled to herself, picking her way swiftly over the stone until she reached the ledge he dangled from. Ears flicking, she peered at him, at once judging how best to get him up, and taking in his beautiful fur . . .

"Just how did you manage that, exactly?" Glancing behind her, she found that the rocks here hid her from the ewe she had been stalking. If she was lucky, the animal wouldn't notice her helping this . . . male.

Her claws dug into the stone as much as she could dig them, and she leaned over the edge, teeth grabbing a hold of the thick fur around his neck.

"'limb!" she said vehemently, a mouthful of fur mumbling the word even as she started to pull backwards with all of her strength.

PhiferWolf
With a forceful kick of his strong hind legs, the male pushed himself over the edge with the female's help onto the ledge. Laying flat where he could, he purred to himself in content. No more dangling, no more pain against his ribs, and certainly no pain from falling. Thanks to this female. Flicking his tail, he looked up at her, keeping his head down.

"How I got zere doesn't matter. Vat matter is zat you go get your prey," he murmured. This would be the third female he has met and he had plans already forming in the back of his head. However, he best play himself right. If she does manage to catch this ewe, he may be able to play her into his paws to share it.

Vzor did not move from his spot, only looking at her with silver eyes. She was a beautiful one too, a shame that the future may have her wandering off from him. Curse the natural curses of nature. With a purr, he continued to watch her, waiting for her to go get her meal and hopefully return to him.

"Quickly, it vill get away if you take too long."

Ashtiel Pantheres
Snorting air daintily from her nostrils, the female flicked an ear at him, turned tail and stalked back to her previous position, noticing with glee that the ewe hadn't moved. Her luck had decided to stick with her this time, and she closed the distance with sudden speed, her muscled hind-legs sending her into a lengthy spring when she came into pouncing distance.

Silent as a breath of wind, she flew through the air on the force of her leap, fangs bared and claws ready to latch onto her prey. The ewe let out a terrified bleet, but it was already too late to dodge the silent hunter.

Landing on the creatures back, Raazya ducked her head and closed her jaws over the creatures windpipe, clamping down hard. Smaller then her, it buckled under the crimson femme's weight, and soon its struggles stilled.

Flicking her tongue to get the bits of fur from her teeth, she glanced back at the male, but couldn't see him or if he still remained on the ledge. The boulder that had hid her from the goat now hid his whereabouts from her.

Glancing around nervously, she searched for his silvery spotted fur.

PhiferWolf
Still he laid there, laying flat against the rock surface. It was cool and semi smooth. His mind was working and a smile upon his maw. Shuffling himself to sit on his rump, curling his thick tail around his paws. The death bleet of a dying ewe made him jump in his skin, making the male jerk his head toward the direction of the female. The boulder hid him but he could imagine her with the poor fool in her maw.

"Sounds like dinner vill be served."

Vzor tilted his head and waited for the female to return.

"Looks like you vere lucky today," he spoke as she came closer. Natural order dictates that he was a larger and stronger and thus was able to fight this female for her meal. However, would that be wrong? Surely it was, if he wanted her to run away from him and not likely see her. Letting her keep her food was to be the best, and maybe he could get closer to her if he allowed it.

"I am Vzor," the silver spotted feline purred with a smile. As goofy as this one could be, he had usually a one track mind.

Ashtiel Pantheres
Still crouched somewhat possessively over her meal, she eyed him with a narrowed crimson gaze, tail flicking. This was her meal, but would he bully her to take it? His size would definitely be enough to drive her off, if not injure her greatly.

But her belly protested at the thought of letting the warm corpse go to him, leaving it empty. It growled loudly, and the smell of blood made her almost shiver.

Growling, her lips lifted to show just the tips of her fangs, a not-so-subtle warning. Foolish, she knew, but her hunger over-road her sense of self-preservation it seemed.

"Raazya," she said with a slight purr, her head rising a little higher in pride. Her mother had given her a strong name. A strong name, for a strong little cub. My Raazya . . .

Pondering, she tilted her head at him. Would offering to share keep him from stealing it? She wondered, and decided to take a chance. She -had- saved his life after all.

"Would you like some . . . ?"

PhiferWolf
He watched with curiosity as she hovered over her food protectively, even going as far as baring her fangs to him. He had yet to make a move and her instincts of hunger told her to defend her food, even from him. She will be a hard female to sway, but he was confident that he will be able to.

"Raazya, huh? Zat vill be hard to forget," he purred with a smile, watching her closely. He made no moves to anger her, he gave no reason to be defensive. So hopefully, the blazing red female will open to him. "A very strong name as you are beautiful."

Vzor jerked his head back when she offered her food. Tilting his own head, he only stared at her.

"Share?..." shaking his silver streaked head. "No no, zat is your food. It vouldn't be fair," Vzor replied and it was only then that his belly betrayed him with a low groan. Embarrassed, he slide a large paw over his belly, giving a sheepish chuckle.

Ashtiel Pantheres
Always one for bluntness, she flicked an ear and bared a fang in distaste. "I'm offering so that you don't steal it and make me fight you. And I can hear your stomach from here. Maybe if you eat, you can pull yourself up future ledges," she added as an afterthought, tail twitching in amusement now.

Shrugging, she turned to her meal and ripped the belly open with her sharp fangs, lapping at the blood and finding her choicest parts. The crimson femme kept a watchful eye on the male however, wondering what he would do.

PhiferWolf
"Vell, if you put it zat vay, zen vo am I to say ozervise?" Vzor chuckled as he walked slowly to the female looked at the small Ewe. There was not much to eat between them. If this was what they had, they'd probably have to eat another to satisfy them for the day. Still, she already bared her fangs, mustn't upset her anymore.

Reaching down into the carcass after she had taken her parts, he took what was left that he liked and left more for seconds if they wanted to go back in. His pure white fur was slowly being stained but it was necessary for this type of rituals.

"For za record, Raazya, I only ended up on zat cliff because I vas challenging myself," he said between a bite. He mustn't seem weak, he was a male and female sought after the ones that showed the most skill and fitness. "It takes practice."

Ashtiel Pantheres
She tried not to snort. Practice? This male was amusing, but at least he proved polite in not devouring the rest of her kill. Not that she would be hungry after her chosen bits, but the thought counted.

"You must have been a lazy cub. My mother had me jumping ledges like that since I could walk," she said with a smirk, tail twitching slowly, up and down, not in annoyance anymore, but arrogant amusement.

Strong had been one thing her mother had called her. Feisty had been another.

PhiferWolf
"Vell! Aren't you a lucky one?" He mused between another bite. "My mother dumped me vith my father because she vas too young. As for my fazer, he decided to leave me behind as soon as he saw anozer tail to chase." Vzor finished his bite and looked at the last bit left before. He was still hungry, but this was not his kill. Thick flicked behind him, the male looked over his shoulder at the fiery female. she was smirking.

"I lived on my own for zis long. I had to teach myself vat to do and vat not to do or else I get hurt. I live on my own and have been zat vay a long time, so you are a very lucky one, Raazya," he finished as he did so with the last of the pieces that he took from the female's kill. She could have the rest, he could simply find another. But it made him wonder, would this sob story actually work for her to sympathize with him? Probably not, but at least it was true unlike some snake tongue, twisted, bloody, mangy male he once knew. Flicking his ear, he swallowed and turned his attention back to the female.

"I only can assume you been on your own as vell?" Vzor paused. "I mean, after being of age."

Ashtiel Pantheres
Watching his gaze flicker to the remains of the ewe, she started licking the blood from her paws. "Oo 'an 'ave te 'est," Raazya murmured, her pink busy pink tongue butchering the words, but she didn't seem to notice. Her mother had often had little Raazya in her mouth, fetching her daughter back from some kind of danger, and had been forced to scold her with a mouthful of fur.

So Raazya didn't realize that others might find her muffled words hard to understand.

As she listened to his story, the crimson femme tilted her head, tail back to it's quick, short twitches. Apparently she had been blessed with a good childhood, compared to this male. She felt some sympathy, but remained weary of him as she answered his question.

"Yes . . . My mother and I parted on happy terms, and I've since roamed these mountains. They're vast, and yet I still haven't found a territory I liked that wasn't already claimed . . . " her voice drifted as she seemed to ponder something.

"Which reminds me. Am I trespassing?"

PhiferWolf
Vzor only looked at the female as she muffled out her words. Often times, some he encountered found his accent strange and didn't understand him from time to time. However, this? He wasn't even sure if she was even saying words! The male tilted his own head, "O-kay?..." he answered quizzically.

The silver-white male laughed at the female's question of territory.

"No one claimed this territory and if they did, they did nothing to me. I've lived over that ridge for much of my life," he answered with a chuckle. It has been very long since another male crossed these places and the last one left quickly when he met this male. Caught his meal and left without even saying hello! "Well, if this is anyone's territory, then it must be mine."

Ashtiel Pantheres
She rolled her eyes and repeated her words, this time sans food in her mouth. "You can have the rest." Rising to her feet, she gave a delightful stretch, front paws stretched out before her, spine arcing, tail swishing. She meticulously stretched each back leg out behind her as well, one at a time, before giving her entire body a shake.

As he explained that he was the de facto owner of the territory, she gave him a suddenly nervous look, her ears going back. That would mean she was not only trespassing, but she had stolen one of his prey animals, -and- hissed at him when he so much as looked at it before.

Wanting to, but refusing to show weakness by stepping back from him, she stood her ground, tail tip lashing. Her red eyes sparked. "I'm sorry for trespassing. I'll be out of your grounds by evening," and then she turned her back on him in a sign of true bravery or utter stupidity, she hadn't decided which yet.

But to be honest, she didn't want to leave his company. Although she didn't quite like him, per se, he was another being to talk to, something she hadn't had in far too long.

PhiferWolf
Vzor gave the carcass a glance. It wasn't his, it wouldn't be exactly fair to take it even if primal instincts to shut it and just eat the damn thing so it doesn't go to waste and so he doesn't have to hunt more. he turned back as she was stretching and turned her back to him.

Spontaneously, the male lunged forth, hooking his claws into her hips and planted his head on her rump, pulled his ears back and looked up at her with silver eyes. "Vat? Vhy?" he questioned, about to lose his chance with a female and for what? Territory?

No male has staked this territory as his own, he has been living here for as long as he could remember. Females came and went through his territory, but they did not leave until after they had met him or stayed with him for a bit. And males who wandered here usually left after seeing him. He has been alone and for what? Territory? There was no one's territory!

At least not that he knew of.

Ashtiel Pantheres
Raazya let out an undignified hissing yelp as she suddenly found herself grabbed and held in place by the bigger male. Twisting her head around, she stared at him in shock, red eyes wide. Then she blinked at him.

"Um . . . "

Her eyes flickered to his claws, his grip not necessarily hurting her, but it tightened almost imperceptibly, and she knew he could overpower her easily. Mild panic set in again, and the femme tried desperately to think of a remedy for this . . . odd, odd situation.

She tried not to flinch from his touch, her space feeling invaded, but if she moved, his claws would probably hurt her without even intending to.

"You don't want me to leave?" she questioned, a puzzled expression furrowing her brow. "But my mother told me males are deadly serious about their lands . . . "

PhiferWolf
Vzor gave a sheepish smile, purring quietly as he rested his white head on her red rump.

"Of course not, it's not zat often a voman comes by zis territory," he replied, his words slightly hindered by the lack of movement of his lower jaw as it continued to hit against her rump, rather, pushed his head up when he spoke.

Slowly, he removed his paws and rested them beside her own, but his head remained where it was. His eyes looking up at hers. Sure this was invading personal space but he didn't care, he was going to invade it at one point or anotehr, right?

"Vell, zis land doesn't belong to any males so you're safe. And if zey're going to complain, ve can hide in my den," vzor offered, tilting his head slightly. "vat male owns zis place do you zink anyvay? I told you I don't know of anyone."

Ashtiel Pantheres
((omg i want to draw this so bad xD or have someone else draw it. So cute!))

She continued looking at him, and he seemed quite content to keep his head on her rump. Her rounded ears tipped forward in mild amusement.

"I thought you, you strange male. But if you truly have no issue with me passing through, then I'll stop worrying."

Vzor confused her, because he tossed all the things her mother had taught her about males right off the side of a cliff. So far, he had acted not like a typical leopard at all!

Suddenly a biting wind picked up, snowflakes riding the air flow. Her thick fur kept the chill air from her skin, but she could smell the snowstorm coming, and coming fast.

"You said you have a cave?"

PhiferWolf
"I don't own zis territory? I just live here," he replied rolling his head to the other side of his rump as if tilting to the other side. she had a nice voice too. Vzor chuckled as he ran tongue across her rump and placed a paw upon it as he did so. If she was going to worry, then some compassion and comfort would be good to make her feel safe and welcomed.

She was quite like the other females that passed through his territory. Kept close to the natural behaviors and teachings of fellow species. Females lived solitary lives, much like males, and kept cubs when they had them. Then they grow from their teachings and so on. Perhaps it was because Vzor never had a father to really teach him that he developed his own survival tactics and own behaviors outside the social norm. Perhaps it was this that got females stuck around as they did before disappearing the next.

Vzor picked his head up just as she had noticed the alteration in the atmosphere. This was perhaps the third or forth strange alteration recently. It has become a rather annoying; harder to find food when they're all hiding in their dens.

The leopard kept his eyes to the sky, the clouds accumulating.

"Yes, ve vill go immediately. I vill use any storage I have... ve'll be togezer for a vile."

Ashtiel Pantheres
Looking to the carcass, she gave him a smirk. "Finish that, then we can go. Better it not be wasted, but it's too mangled and . . . leaking . . . for me to want to drag it all the way to wherever you call home." Her tail flickered and her lips lifted over her fangs in a slight snarl of disgust. Even belly rumbling hunger had not been enough for her to keep from getting messy, her fur as pristine as it had been before she'd tore into the animal.

PhiferWolf
Vzor glanced at the sky, listening to her in passing. It was going to get worse if they stuck out here.

Without a reply, the male turned around and snatched up the carcass into his maw and darted off up the rock face with ease. The many moons of practice had made it much easier for him to climb the rock face to his den. The muscles in his leg loaded as he landed and shot him forth.

The silver male's den was not too small but it was deep enough to keep the wind from bellowing in and cooling those inside, but it was still cramp to fit himself and Raazya without them having to touch. Placing the ewe toward the entrance, Vzor stalked to the back of the cave away from what was to come.

Ashtiel Pantheres
Well, that worked too, she thought to herself, watching him jump rather nimbly up the mountain to his den. Sooo why had he been struggling earlier? She stifled a giggle and followed him with more ease, for she wasn't weighed down by dead flesh and bones.

The wind grew biting quickly, and though her thick fur kept the worst of it at bay, she relished the protection the cave offered as soon as she slipped inside, following in the steps of the male.

And stopped short.

It was a small den, and she eyed the space they of them would share for as long as this storm lasted and inwardly groaned.

Seemed like they were about to get to know each other a little better.

"Quite...homey," she said with a strained grin, tail twitching.

PhiferWolf
"Isn't it?" He purred as he shuffled himself as far as back as he could into his den. It was small, but it was much bigger when he found it! How it could have gotten small, he didn't know. It could be because that the mountain was shrinking because of the weather and time. After all, everything eventually decays, right? He looked at his guest and then past her to the outside.

"It vill be quite a vile before ze storm ends, but at least you are out of ze vind and kinda in a varm place," Vzor replied, flicking his tail behind him. Wiggling further in and more to the wall, he glanced at the space beside him and to her.

"Come, rest vith me."

Ashtiel Pantheres
She stared at the small space and tried not to grimace. Sooo, they would be touching. In a way that wasn't saving his furry butt from a rocky death. Raaz glanced at the snow now visibly blowing past the den entrance and glared at the pure white flakes.

Sighing, she turned back to Vzor with a hopefully realistic smile.

"Rest, sounds good. That ewe stuffed me." She gave a legitimate yawn and padded over to her allotted space, curling into it as demurely as possible, keeping her body to herself to avoid invading his and her own personal space.

She floundered then, searching for something to break what was going to assuredly be an awkward silence. But she had never been good in situations like this. Especially with males!

PhiferWolf
Vzor purred, watching her intently with an innocent smile on his face as she looked outside and came to claim her spot beside him. His tail was tucked neatly beside him and he was doing what he could to give her the space she would need. The warmth from her body was a refreshing change to the many moons without, just a breezy den.

"Vell then, looks like ve are good," he murmured as he began to lick his paw pad. Closing his eyes to keep to himself.

Certainly he had ideas of what could happen.

Certainly he could act upon them if he desired, if she did as well.

Certainly he could have her running away from him by the next moon cycle.

All depending on what she would do in such a situation where he, a male, and she, a female, were in so close proximity .... one gets the picture. Keeping to himself, he hoped that she would do something on her own accord.

Ashtiel Pantheres
Raazya watched him out of the corner of her eye as he licked his paw, his eyes closed. He was an odd creature, certainly unlike the males her mother had warned her about. She wondered what went on in his head, then wondered if she truly wanted to know....

"Yep, good. Well, good night." With that, she buried her face under her tail to avoid any further conversation. As nervous as she was, she couldn't help but fall almost instantly asleep.
