first off let me link the wiki entry on Enochian, it is a decent overview.

I myself see the energies more as powers or entities rather than angels per se or at least in the sense of Christian/Jewish angels.
Crowley and the Golden Dawn revived the system and much of Crowley's magical world is drawn from his scrying of the enochian ethers and gathered in his book The Vision and the Voice.
Crowley's text on using the system is Liber LXXXIV vel Chanokh and it is explained in a easy to understand manner in the book by Lon Milo Duquette called The Enochian World of Aleister Crowley
John Dee's book from the 1500's is called John Dee's Five Books of Mystery and is still in print in a current edition.
at www.hermetic.org you can find works by benjanmin rowe who further developed Enochian for modern use
in short it is a language that can be used to call forth energies to scry...the energies are related to many combinations of the elements and spirit...when you scry into them you can gain personal gnosis on your path.
I am a newbie at this still and have not studied anything in detail pending my rendering of the tablets used to get the names from.
I want to approach this untainted by others visions.... I have read a small amount of Uncle Al's visions as research on other topics however.
