We all came here at some point or another because we wanted to learn about sex. Who's having it, how often, what's normal, what isn't. The exact sort of thing that schools don't teach us! I don't know about any of you, but my "comprehensive" sex education in Britain was an awful lot of "insert tab A into slot B" with little focus on relationships. We had one session where we discussed STIs and put a condom on a banana, and that's about it.

So I was absolutely relieved when I found out about this: http://sexperienceuk.channel4.com/

I was sent to this link from watching a sex education show (hey, you never know what else you might learn - six years after I found this guild and four years after I lost my virginity, I'm still picking stuff up) and the show is really frank and honest about EVERYTHING. It shows that everything is normal, and that you can't tell who's gay by how they look or act. Me and my housemates are all VERY impressed with this show because we had to learn through experience or turn to the internet.

I wasn't quite sure where to put this, but any thoughts?

My school had an entire class devoted to sex ed. We went over birth control and STDs. We had Baby Think It Over. We had speakers from Planned Parenthood and Family Planning come in to talk about their services. We had fake breasts and testicles to practice doing exams. It was pretty great. It was an elective class though, and I really think it should have been mandatory. For kids who didn't take the class, there was just that week or so of birth control and STDs taught in Health or Human Anatomy and Physiology.

I browsed around a bit, looks like a good show. I'd recommend putting a PG-13 warning with a little description anywhere on Gaia that you link that though since some people might not be ready to see that stuff and since sometimes Gaia is strict about that stuff. wink

I love channel 4.
There's a show called embarrassing teenage bodies
[it has nudity in a medical context and a lot of in depth discussion]
It's basically the same thing, but more about puberty and normalcy than sex.
I wish they could play stuff like this in the U.S.
It would be so helpful for some people.
Even better, they should use it in schools.

My sex ed class was pretty bad. We have a month long segment for it in health.
Basically, we had to learn basic anatomy. Only the parts responsible for reproduction. It was more about that than sex.
We learned about every birth control method available at the time.
We learned "Why people have sex"
and the STD unit.
