The redhead smiled as she selected a cookie for herself. "It was earned." She took a bite, and there was a moment of peaceful silence as both ate.
"Now." Nadja was all business again. "Logistics. Rooms and uniforms will be sorted out shortly." She spoke of such things as minor technicalities - the outer inconsequential trappings. "This position affords you greater freedom and privileges, and I expect to see you make proper use of them. You are out of the dark woods, but the road is long yet."
"I will be holding a class on basic training techniques in a week's time." The elite lifted her hand in a gesture of invitation. "Attendance is strongly suggested for the lower ranks, but it would be beneficial to accompany your partner."

"Thank you, Ma'am, I'll make good use of them. I'm staying out of the woods, its the straight and narrow for me. Well, no. You know what I mean, though, Ma'am." It took a minute for Nyx to register that last thing Miss Nadja said.
Oh... damn... Nyx struggled to not look petrified at the news of this training class. "Eh heh, yes... a good idea, Ma'am." Miss Nadja didn't need to know about Nyx's lack of battling skills just yet, not right after promotion.

The redhead's response to Nyx's relieved rambling was an amused "H'm," her grey eyes half-hidden behind half-lidded lashes. The flicker of emotion across the scientist's face didn't go unnoticed, but the signals of the redhead's acknowledgment were just as subtle - a half-degree tilt of her head and a vague twitch of her lips. What are you worried about now, Nicole.
As was her way in such situations, Nadja smiled. The effect was sanguine.
Then she pushed herself up from her chair and stood, signaling the meeting was wrapping up. "A notice will go out within a few days. Do you have any questions?"

She stood as well. "No, ma'am. I'll be sure to show up." Great... This should be both terrifying and humiliating; That could be worried about later, she had a promotion to celebrate.
