Hello All. I'm working on a little something-something for Warhammer 40K involving the GML. Now, I need stories of Missions that the GML might have partaken in the Warhammer 40K universe. Since many of you don't know what that is exactly, I'll explain it here.

The Warhammer 40K universe is pretty big, full of alien races such as Man, Eldar, Tau, Tyranids, Orks, and Necrons.

The GML is located in the Gaian System, on the planet of Beyon. There are three other planets in the system, Niead, Aeginvok, and Nordevok, all populated by Man. Due to the close-minded nature of the Imperium of Man, there are no Alien races on this planet, besides possible invading forces.

Now, for the writing mission itself, you (The Mercenaries!) are to write a page-long (in word) story about a mission the GML has taken. Characters in the stories will be nondescript units, with one or two Higher-ranking Named mercenaries who are most likely leading the Mission. You can either use one of the High-ranking mercenaries already in the guild, or you are allowed to make up your own high-ranking Mercenary.

The mission will be a Page long or a little shorter when finished, in size 12 font, single-spaced, with a title for the Mission.

Payment for THIS mission will be awarded to the best 5 Written Missions turned in to me by July 30th. Awards will be ranging from 500-5,000 gold. Those best five missions will also be placed into the GML codex for Warhammer 40K, which I will post online after it's total completion/

So, we'd be writing a full story, all at once?

Everyone is just writing about a single fictional mission the GML has gone on, p to a page long. The missions don't have to go in any chronological order, but if we put them all together then yes, it could be considered a story. The missions don't have to have any correlation to each other whatsoever.

Also, I guess I forgot to mention this, but you're allowed to heroically sacrifice your named character in your story if you want to. The only named character's you can't sacrifice are Gear, Wielder, Kaneharo, Sagi, and myself.

Gear, Wielder, Kaneharo, and Sagi can't be sacrificed because they are HQ units. I cannot be killed off by any of you because I'm already killing MYSELF off. Well, I don't actually die, I just disappear into the Warp.

Also, you can't make made-up fictional characters be part of Crew. That's just not cool.

This thread has been moved to the parlor by me because I'm fearing that no one saw it inside of the DWM.

I'm guessing that you shouldn't kill off ANY of the Crew members actually, Probably keep the top of the pyramid intact. Lowest rank below that are the Command Sergeant Major. Don't worry, it's cool to make up your own one of these guys and kill em off.

ALSO: THE DEADLINE IS BEING EXTENDED TO AUGUST 15.

Please Let me know if you are accepting the 'Last Paid Mission' so that way I don't get my hopes up on the 15th.

Should we use the crew members characters as they are or make them fit into a more military type thing. Are the planets of Beyon, Niead, Aeginvok, and Nordevok similar to what we picture as Revres, meaning that they consist of magic, and technology?
PostPosted: Fri Jul 16, 2010 1:26 pm

Yes, Imagine the Planets as in the countries of Revres.

The crew members should be made just slightly more militarized if you decide to use them. And everyone is a human, so K' can't be a half-demon. Sorry K'.

So say Wielder carries a gun instead of just summoning his sword to every situation or just act more military esque. And if K' is now fully human does he lose his powers?
PostPosted: Fri Jul 16, 2010 8:33 pm

Fff-- scream

Fine! How about full demon that still looks like a human for whatever reason? That way, I get to keep my powers and whatnot. Nothing else changes.

Yeah K', nothing else changes except for the fact that I get my a** chewed over by Chris for doing something that goes against the Imperium of Man. I'm trying to make this a viable codex cause I might be entering it in a contest come fall.

Since Strifer's asking questions about the crew members, I'll just go over the little changes to people's characters in the crew. If any crew member does not want their character used in the conditions I've put them in, let them look now and speak up.

Gear: Pretty much remains the same. Has some servo-drones that float around him. Each of them has a pistol attached. His cyberpathy is a little weaker against enemy equipment like tanks or summat.

Wielder: Still uses his swords, but unfortunately cannot summon them. He just takes two with him on the start of missions. His psychic abilities are mostly limited to anything involving fire and portals.

Kaneharo: Still a masterful Mage, which are called Psykers in the 40K universe. He's pretty much the same, except he cant transform into his higher forms, he's completely human. He just naturally a badass purple wizard.

K' the Warrior: No Longer a Demon. I'm sorry K', but the Imperium doesn't consort with demons. Otherwise we'd have the Grey Knights on us, and I can't think of a way to NOT have our asses kicked by them. Psychic powers of basic Fire manipulation and carries a big sword.

Sagi: Alright. This one was a toughie since Sagi never created a character profile. I made Sagi a sniper who tends to teach the mercenaries she works with the skills they need to stay alive. Please don't eat my face.

Klamachpin: Not a Fighter, No point in using her (no offense).

Xeg: I guess if you really wanted to you could use my Xeg as a story character. He isn't playable, reaslly though, since I turned out to just be a mix of Wielder and Kaneharo when put down on paper. Uses two swords and Magic, a Fearless person (sometimes a bad thing, Insane Heroism sometimes means the same thing as Insane Stupidity.), and doesn't like to leave a man behind.

There's the crew. If you want to use another person's character, then you should PM them, ask them if it's ok, ask them for character details or look on their profile, then make your story. Or, If you make your own character, just PM me a basic Skelly and I'll translate him into Warhammer 40K for you.

Alright, thank you. I'll try to have something done by the 15th. No guarantees that its any good at all.

So far, only one entry from Wielder. Contest ends in ten days. Is wielder really going to be the only guy to get Gold?

His story was worth 5000, by the way. So he's getting the max amount of gold for his originality.

I feel like posting it. There are a few errors and such, and I don't really know the Politics of the WH40K world, so I couldn't factor them in. Sooo... yeah. Begin story.

Diplomacy and Force:

I only ever had one chance to work with General Wielder. Of course, I leaped at the opportunity. My squad and I signed up the moment we heard about the mission. It was probably the best decision we've ever made, as Mercenaries. The job was to bring a group of Tau Revolutionaries to peace.

We met him in the Hangar, and boarded the TWILI gunship in the wee hours of the morning. I still remember exactly what he was wearing... An old, Japanese-looking shirt, dark combat pants, with plenty of pockets, and a red cape that flowed behind him. We took off with PFC Kreig at the helm. We could hear MSM Sagi over the radio, guiding us out and sending the details for the briefing. The General read them aloud, as the display showed a topographical map. “We've got a small army against us. Looks like we'll mostly have to deal with melee, but they managed to steal some RPGs and P90s. Kreig, how are you at evading?” The standard TWILI had the ability to jump suddenly in any direction about 20 meters. It was tough, as you could easily crash into something if you weren't careful, and overuse could lead to an engine meltdown. Experienced pilots often knew tricks to it, though, and Krieg was no exception. “I'd say ain't nuttin gonna hit dis ship, sir.” He replied. “Good to hear. Now... We'll need to utilize the landscape as efficiently as possible. How are we armed?”

We had four snipers, three of whom were quite experienced. The fourth, Seraph, was a new addition. She had talent, but was unsure of herself in battle. We'd keep her covered, I had assured her, nothing would touch her so long as she follows orders. We also had two heavy mac's and one explosives expert. I was best in melee, just like the General, and carried a Swallow. Krieg would manage the guns on the ship, and give us some air support.

“This ridge will be good for the snipers. You can spread out along it's edge, and rain down some good, ol' fashioned death. Jakobs and Arclyte will get in closer with their Light Machine Guns, and the Sergeant and I will head straight into the middle.” We'd be fighting side-by-side? Holy S***! “This is if, and only if, we need to engage the entirety of them. With any luck, they'll listen to words.

The briefing continued a while longer, as we zoomed towards our objective. Afterword, he asked me how I was with my Swallow. I replied, and we got into a conversation about personal tactics, then League tactics, then all sorts of other things. We finally arrived, five hours after we'd dusted off. We dropped the snipers off at the ridge, about 50 meters between each of them. Once we dropped the last one, we went down to the field in front of their camp. “Eyepieces.” Wielder said. Everyone, including the snipers, donned their pieces, and he sent out a test message. <> <> The others followed suit. The TWILI set down and the four of us remaining got off. Jakobs and Arclyte crouched down and aimed at the camp. <> Wielder and I began to walk towards the camp, where we were greeted by a small welcoming party, including their leader. Wielder pulled his sword off of his back and held it out, still sheathed. <> “I come representing the Mercenary League. We've been hired to bring you to peace, through either diplomacy or force. We are skilled in both.” Four officers walked up next to their leader. Their leader replied, “We will not bow to merely four men.” Wielder sent an order over the eyepieces. <> “Don't underestimate us, friend.” He held his sword up, and the four officers flanking him went down with wounds in various limbs. Their leader looked around, and looked back, with a face full of panic. “Shall we begin the negotiations?” Wielder asked him.

The next few hours saw Wielder and their leader talking intently, the latter obviously scared of the former, despite his calm, friendly demeanor. We left by what would be sunset at base, and were home just after midnight.

I was expecting to get into a flurry of violence and blood, but instead the General had ended it with four bullets fired from half a mile away. He'd intimidated them without even killing any of them. I had never thought of using both Force and Diplomacy together. But maybe that's why I'm not a General.

Deadlines come and went, and Only a single entry. I'm disappointed. This leaves me with Nary a mission for the GML codex.

Well, at least I had a backup codex. The Aldebarans. Basically? Their turtles in space.
