The story of Aang.

To understand current events, it is best we start from the beginning with the story of Avatar Aang. It is common knowledge that, as a young boy, Aang was told he would be the next Avatar and that he did not take this news well. Running away from home, he got caught up in a storm and fell into the ocean where he went into the Avatar State to protect himself. Freezing himself under the water, he remained asleep and hidden from the world for a hundred years. Meanwhile, the Fire Nation took advantage of the missing Avatar and raged a war against the entire world. Just when all hope seemed lost, after all of the air benders had been destroyed, as well as the water benders of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang was discovered by Sokka and Katara, a young warrior and water bender, who would be the ones to stand by his side through his entire journey.

Over the course of a year, Aang, Sokka, Katara, and other members struggled to help Aang master all of teh elements so that he could defeat Fire Lord Ozai and restore peace and balance to the planet. It was a long struggle, and many lives were changed, but in the end, the Avatar defeated Ozai by taking his bending abilities away. Prince Zuko, who had once hunted the Avatar, saw the errors in his ways and vowed to help Aang restore peace. After Azula lost her mind and was defeated by Zuko and Katara, Zuko became the new Fire Lord and officially ended the war. Peace and balance were restored and the peoples of all nations lived in harmony as one.

The Aftermath.

With peace restored to the world, the cities that had fallen began to rebuild. Families were brought back together and new leaders were placed in the thrones of all the nations. A new world order was formed so that the nations would have constant contact with one another. Once a year, representatives from each kingdom would gather. This meeting, known as The Gathering of the Phoenix, acted as a checks and balance system. Trade was established between the nations and cultures began to teach each other and blend. Understanding, peace, and harmony became the way of life.

Not only did nations form, but families also formed. Aang and Katara soon married. Zuko and Mai also married and had a child, who was surely spoiled by Zuko's mother. Sokka and Suki wed under the blessing of the full moon. Even Toph found love, strange as that sounds. And all of their children grew up on stories about how their parents were the ones that saved the planet from sure destruction. Every summer, the old friends would get together and go on vacation, often spending te summer traveling. They are always sure to stop by and see good old Uncle Iroh at his tea shop, the Jasmine Dragon in Ba Sing Se and play a nice game of Pai Sho. All in all, everyone's lives, save Ozai and Azula, turned out pretty good.
