Cardea is an Elder of the satyr race. She is, in fact, the closest thing to a mother this race has ever had. She may not have invented the bells but she has protected them from harm for hundreds of years. She is the oldest of her kind and is very caring and motherly but, like a mother, if her children are threatened then she can be very scary.

Cardea's Thoughts

I have been keeping my distance from the young ones. The majority have recently reached the age where they were in need of their first lesson in the Rituals. It is in my nature to long to smother the children and make sure they are all looked after, sadly I know this is not the best way for the newly born to come into their old ways. In a little while I will need to teach them the mating ritual, how to reproduce and create the first truly new satyrs in many years. For this I can not wait. It is the reason that I have been so diligent in the care of the many bells I protect, the birth of a satyr. The rebirth of these children into this world is a thing of beauty, only a truly ingenius satyr would have thought to hide us as He did. They have much ahead of them and not all of it will be an internal battle, which is one reason I am glad Perrin Mercer has come to settle her wagon of goods in these ruins. She has much that can be of use to my younglings, if they have the intuition to use it properly. Perrin is also a friend of mine, so her visiting provides me with company to keep my mind off of what the satyriscii are doing, keeps me from coddling them. This journey has been long, and promises to become longer still with every new satyrisci that enters this world.
