Yes... my son has learned to climb from his crib. He's quiet and he's careful. But the carpeted floor is concrete and one mistake could kill him.
Things we've done so far: -Stay in the room till he falls asleep -Babyproofed the room -Monitor stays on a loud volume to where I can clearly hear his breathing
But what else can we do to prevent anything from happening?

Oh man, I'd have a heart attack!
Maybe you could try getting padding for the floor under the crib? Like, thin mattresses or something? I honestly don't know, but best of luck to you! I hope you can find something.

If he can climb out of the crib then he shouldn't be in it anymore. If you can't afford to buy a bed right now at least take the side off of the crib so that he can get in and out without hurting himself. Of course this means you are now going to have to teach him that at bed time he has to stay in bed but this time was bound to come. If you already have a bed then it's time to move him into it.

Or get some wooden planks and make the sides of the crib a little higher wink

As long as there aren't splinters and then can be really really well secured. That would still be a bit scary to me.

Yeah, whenever we moved, we had to buy anew crib because the men who put it together broke it. So, we bought a convertible bed for him. Not convertible as the car but it changes to a toddler bed and then a childs bed.
And haha, I don't think we'll be putting planks on the crib.

Yeah, it's probably best that you don't. It worked for our ferrets, but I suppose children are a slightly different matter wink
Best of luck to you!

Hmm...
Can you lower the floor of the crib?
Or perhaps, if there's anything he could be using as a foothold, I suggest you remove it.
If he's that move about able, he probably doesn't need cot bumpers anymore.

Well if the mattress is as low as it can go, it's probably time to move out of the crib. Heh, some kids are little daredevils and will get out, it's just a matter of minimizing the injury to themselves.

Yep, It is time for a transition! A big boy bed! I recomend either putting the matress on the floor or getting a single bed and a bed rail. Aslo it is time to set a definative bet time routine, something that will help the little person feel that all that needs to be done before bed time has been.
ie: Snack, Teeth brushed, bath time, story time kisses and cuddles, sippy cup of water and off to bed. will help your little person feel much more comfortable with thte idea of going to bed.
Finally the morning needs to be when you are up first, and ready to help your little munchkin deal with the day... also they seem to be able to instinctivly find mom and Dad's bed and climb in for some early morning snuggle time, as long as it is not like 2 am (more like closer to one hour before get up time) then there is no harm in some snuggle time with little person before getting on with the day.
The only real adjust ment for us was realizing we needed to begin wearing PJ's to bed.

LOL, well they are little people! Sometimes as adults we forget that they have their own way of looking at the world. They have thoughts and feelings too... they sometimes cannot comunicate them as well as we can, but getting to their level and getting them to help you get into their head space can make you a more understanding parent.

I agree that its time for a big boy bed we gave our son the extra queen we had with safety rails. He does get up and come out but you can always put a child lock on the inside of his door. My son took a few weeks to solve that puzzle. So now my hubby and I sleep with our door open so we can here him.
