This is no different from when Sin killed Striker's character. Except he didn't do any ability abuse. It's nothing to complain about. Roen made a choice and got his character DQ'd. Ace wins and move on. It's not like he made an ooc statement saying "I'm going to screw Ace over." In fact, this is hardly a situation of "cheating Ace out of a fight." He at least gave her a fight and that's what matter. So for once, if anyone comes to me about this having being BS, I'm going to take their number and kick some a**. Now let it blow over. Jace advances. ((I'm going to kill you, Vansin.)) I've had a change of heart.
While my arguement appears to make some semblance of sense, it does not.
I consider it not in bad taste because Roen Jaeger didn't come out and say it was in bad taste. Because really, people ever actually do that. No, instead, Roen made the same selfsure snide comments he always does, such as "She's going to be pretty mad about this" and "It'll teach her to have some backbone".
Whatever that means.
The point here is that Roen, like all those smart Revolutionaries in the OOC thread, realized that what he did was completely asinine and rude.
Yet I, Vintrict, can claim that there was no foul and no wrong because Roen didn't say "I'm going to screw Ace over". Well, despite the fact that he damn near did in the previous examples, who cares? The fact isn't about if he wanted to, or even if he knew it. If I shot someone in the foot and though it would be a hilarious and totally allowable joke, do I get a free pass from jail?
Do I get the judge to go "LOL, that IS funny!"
What matters isn't that he "gave Ace a fight" because without good guys like Ross and Vansin, she wouldn't have gotten her grades, and to her and many others, having their performance graded is exceptionally important. Not to mention the fact that she didn't get them in round one, either.
So when I, Vintrict, said that it's no big deal. What I meant is that it sucks for Ace, and anyone in the future who gets stuck in her situation, because I'm just going to high five the douche who does what Roen did and gallop away on my high horse of ignorance. Because caring is too much of a hassle.
You get that, don't you?
