When the song requires the altos to be loud. Usually, we have to hold back a bit because of the large quantity of us. I love it when I don't have to worry about being too loud.

Everything!
But uh, hm... When the choir is perfectly in tune, and the harmonics just fly around like crazy! The buzzing in your ears is fantastic! (That said, I also love crazy discords, particularly a top F/G combination for the sopranos - the "wobbling" between my friend and I was the best second of the piece, haha!)
Also, I love it when everybody is singing equally passionately, and suddenly the lyrics make such perfect sense, and... yeah, a tear in the eye.
I'm a bit of a geek. biggrin

I like it when you can actually HEAR the altos in a song, like when there's a spot where there's a ton of voice crossing. I particularly liked it last year once, when me and my alto girls managed to hit a far higher note than those sopranos... it was a moment of pride 3nodding

My favorite part is when my choir performed with our eyes closed. We just listened to each other and ignored the audience. It was awesome.

This is an awesome thread! I love choir and am currently studying to become a choral director. mrgreen
My favorite part of choir is when everyone gets so lost in it and you feel everyone just move together with the music. It's so natural and beautiful and you literally feel like you're one...what an amazing feeling. smile

I love the community. Atleast in my choir college choir, all the guys pretty much know each other and we all have fun while singing under the direction of a very humurous choir director.

Getting great scores at competition. This year was the first that my school choir got a mode score of 1's after years of slow ascension since 2007. When our choir director told us on the bus when we were about to leave, we all started screaming and crying. It's not the scores, it's the fact that years of everyone's hard work and participation in something we all love finally paid off. This was my last year in that choir, but I know that their scores will only go up.

Choir at my college is more than just choir. It's your family away from home. My favorite moments are when we're working on a piece and the meaning behind the words and the music structure finally hit us as a group, and we all break down or celebrate and just get washed in real musical passion.

Lord Sreder I love the community. Atleast in my choir college choir, all the guys pretty much know each other and we all have fun while singing under the direction of a very humurous choir director. This sounds like the choir director at my university. He is a hoot! But yeah. Choir is a very social creature... you gotta like everyone there, or it really isn't any fun. Fortunately, making beautiful music together is probably the best way to bond. So it's pretty hard not to like everyone, as long as they're relatively cool people!
It's hard to say what I love about choir, because it depends on my mood and what my priorities are at the moment. I always love sightreading - it's so rewarding to just get through a piece and realize hey, we can actually get through this without a crash-and-burn. That is very nice.
But then, I also like getting to that moment where everyone is really "feeling" it and is totally in tune with each other. I think a lot of you guys know what I'm talking about! I think it's something choir has that is a little bit unique. Other ensembles usually have the problem of an instrument in the way of getting your whole person to *be* the music. And that is like... a crazy feeling. Haha. I'm starting to get so deeeep. Lol.
