...We are all granted wings...  I'm so excited because The Last Airbender is coming to theaters July 2nd. *^_^* For those of you who don't know, the movie originated from Nickelodeon's original series, "Avatar: the Last Airbender"
Quick opening statement/summary one of the characters say that sums everythign up:
"Water, Earth, Fire, Air. Long ago the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an Airbender named Aang. And although his Airbending skills are great, he's still got a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world."
The show certainly has it's roots in multiple Asian cultures which makes it really interesting. Plus who wouldn't want to be able to control the elements? rolleyes I'm not too keen with the casting of the film, but the trailers look amazing to me. cool
I could go into a long spiel of how awesome the series is, but I'm more interested on everyone else's take on it. So:

Yes I did. I loved the whole show and I hated not knowing about Zuko's mother.
~Thoughts on the upcoming movie?
I don't know it looks good but I am mad that they used all white people instead of going off the show.

No

I just love the Avatar: The Last Airbender series. I have seen every episode and even own the box set of the first season. I wanna get the other two tho.
I do not think the movie is going to be as good tho. First of all, they changed Aang's arrow to look like this weird tribal thing. They should have just kept it plain and simple like in the series. Secondly, you know how Zuko is a white boy in the series, well they guy who plays him in the movie is Mexican and doesn't even look like him. And for Zuko's scar. They didn't do a very good job on making it. It looks like he just got punched and now has a black eye.
I do like how they are going to make three movies tho. One for each season. I can't wait until the second movie because I want to see who they get to play Toph. (My favorite character.) Also, I like who they got to play Sokka and Katara in the movie. The people actually do look like the characters from the series. ^^

Yeah, I totally intend on buying the box sets too. It's just such a good series!
Yeah, the tattoo is kinda weird looking, but I think it fits the atmosphere of the movie more. Kinda more realistic and adheres to the "air monk" image. : )
Dev Patel actually has Indian blood in him, not Mexican. ^^; It would have been more desirable to have actors/actresses that look more like the animated characters, but I guess the director was going for a completely different look, which I think is a shame. : / And I agree, I didn't think the scar from the burn looked quite right. The people playing Sokka and Katara don't look much like the ones from the animated series in my opinion, but what I'm looking forward to is their acting. If they can pull of their personalities, I'll be happy with their casting.
Yeah, I can't wait to see who will be Toph. She is one of my favorite characters too. I hope the first movie grosses enough profit so they can make a second, otherwise we may never find out who plays Toph! D: ...But we must wait for the opportunity to fly...

I watched the series in a week about two weeks ago.
Eh, I'm noting going to go into full detail. I'm going to see it as an early birthday present, the only thing I'm really hoping for is that it's not murdered like Twilight was.

My favorite pairings will never happen so I'll keep my mouth shut in this department.

...We are all granted wings... OK, so I watched the movie. Did any one else? Thoughts? Love it? Hate it? In-between?
Personally, I was in-between. It had some good points, but some bad points too. Discuss! ...But we must wait for the opportunity to fly...
