I'm extremely curious about this: Is stealing cable a sin (according to the Bible)??? Because I know that it quite clearly says: "Thou shalt not steal.", but this is a really negligible (sp?) offense when you think about it:

a) You're not stealing anything but the viewing of pixels, so the company loses nothing.
b) Again, they don't lose anything, but even the loss of paying customers is so small, that they don't bother paying enough to make the cable boxes
secure, and they acknowledge this fact.
c)...I had another reason, but the last one was so long, I lost it completely...

So would you consider stealing as getting for free what others pay for, even if it doesn't need to be replaced? I'm not saying this is justified if there are any reasons anyone can think of that it isn't, but I really wanna know y'all's opinions. 3nodding

Stealing is stealing. I think they have a commercial about that... ~__- lol. at least here they do. But um... yea. I think it's pretty much considered stealing. Your not paying for it, when you technically have to. even if it isn't something that will make a difference, if you have to pay to "legally" have it... then if you're not paying... it's stealing. Not much I can elaborate on.. *shrug* I don't have cable. ^^ I have regular... TV. xp (it sucks)

The company has to pay money to get those channels and pay money to the employees who run the satilites or fix cables and technical stuff. Thus when you steal from them it may make them have to pay their employees less if they get enough you never know how many people are realy stealing from them.

I ashamed to say my family stole cable for a short time. . . sad sweatdrop

I've since repented for it though and we would never do it again.

we are still able to steal cable but we don't... my dad and some uncles did 1 time though to watch a football game that was not on regular TV but we repented also and we are not going to do it anymore. 3nodding and yes it is stealing... it is something that technically, legally we have to pay for so by not paying for it we are stealing... if you don't want the temptation you should call the cable company and tell them that they need to take it back. 3nodding

how about music? is downloading music stealing in a biblical sense?
i know too well that it is stealingin a legal sense...but biblical?

think about it: the person you dload it from loses nothing. in fact he is giving the songs to you!

maybe he stole from the company by copying it, but i think that is stretching it, since they recieved money for the c.d.

the bible's theft, as i interpret it (and i am open to passages and etc.), is that the person you stole from no longer has said item.

but it is not so simple on the 'net, is it?

if it is legally and it doesn't go against God then it is Biblically... plain and simple...
