The warrior swayed, and his eyes shone a deeper red. Clearly, his blood was starting to rise - pangs of nostalgia rose in him as the warriors danced at the peak's base. When she lunged, A'quil scrabbled backwards, out of range; but the wound in his haunch caused him to stumble. It was only luck - or blessing of some kind - that drove Taki's leap short, and her jaws away from him.
But A'cuil wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Moving wiser now, he dove into her. His front paws flattened as he tried to dive in and score a quick bite under her defensive paw.

Swatting her paw down swiftly, Taki had caught his muzzle under her paw as she scrabbled back a bit and snapped her jaws towards his ear, as she snarled. Her frustration was making her irritable but she wished only the best. Deep in her heart she knew this match was pointless, but her head was full of rage and anger. Her eyes blazed brightly in the heat of battle.
Her teeth connected in the flesh of his ear, as the tang of blood dripped onto her tongue. Her claws scrapped against his muzzle as she held it down with her weight.

Bestial growls ripped their way out of A'cuil's throat at the humiliating position as he squirmed and backpawed furiously, trying to get himself out from under Taki's hold. The pain of his ear mingled with the indignation of his nose rubbing against the dirt. He howled his anger, muffled by his trapped maw!
A'cuil threw his paws to the side, heaving his bulk sideways in what was meant to be a dislodging death-roll.

She stumbled a bit but pressed her other paw on his chest, holding him down as she stood over him. Taki's paw pressed his muzzle deeper into the ground as she snarled and tore her fangs from his ear to n** at his paws that lay beneath her stomach.
Her teeth lodged tightly on his haunch, holding him still. Her teeth sunk into muscle, as she pressed her weight down on his chest, her teeth locking together in his shoulder.

A'cuil howled.
A moment of pain overcame his better judgment, and the urge he had to be easy on the fae warrior, to treat this as a spar instead of the battle for dominance it was. He threw caution and inhibition to the winds - if he didn't, the warrior realized, Taki was going to take all the fight right out of him without fail.
She was fighting for leadership. He needed to as well. A'cuil braced his footpaws under him and rolled again, leaping at the same moment to throw Taki off of him. He was a warrior - he could be an Alpha - and he would rise!

Tumbling back, she was pinned beneath him, her fangs still locked in his shoulder as she battered her paws into his stomach. She couldn't lose. She would be a mockery if she did! Taki snarled loudly and pushed up with her hind legs, intended to push him off, her tail swatting hard against his leg, trying to make him lose his balance.
His weight was great and her tail padded against his leg uselessly as she growled, hanging on tight.

He was no-nonsense now, hurting in too many places to be properly judicious. His shoulder throbbed relentlessly under the pressure of her teeth, and already his mind wanted to think of the careful moons that he would have to nurse the wound in order to return it to full strength.
His mind wanted to. But it couldn't, since the training of the Sure-Claw warrior kept it narrowly focused on the reason his shoulder would need such nursing. A'cuil levered his weight against the wolfess, planting his paws on the earth before he reared back with another guttural snarl. When he drove his shoulders forward, he sought nothing between himself and the stone but Taki, held there by her jaws.

Her grip on his shoulder lessened at his push and she growled and reared on her hind legs, clawing at his face and muzzle, her eyes glittering in determination as she tasted the tang of blood that dripped from her jaws to paint the rock beneath them, making the ground slippery - yet another hazard to the fighting wolves. This fight had to end. Now.
Her paws slipped a bit in the blood but she pushed back none the less.

A'cuil yielded the push, but his eyes glimmered with fire. After only a few inches of give the wolf planted his wide paws on the ground. Blood speckled his forelegs from the force of his stance. Without word, snarl, or bellow of any kind, A'cuil pushed forward. His mouth opened impossibly wide. Thick ivories bared against a pulsing red tongue as he lunged for the bulge of Taki's neck.

Yelping in pain as his fangs connected, Taki had had it. This fight was to be finished right now. She lunged forward, her claws, battling at his throat as she snarled into his skin. "I will never give up even at my last breath!"
She snarled as she slipped, and fell to the ground, glaring defiantly up at him as she held her jaws in his flesh.

His teeth drove home even as she assailed him on, but A'cuil scarcely felt her claws. His hold on her tensed his neck's corder muscles, and A'cuil followed her to the ground as he locked his jaws tighter. Heaving, as one would with a desperate stag, A'cuil hefted his torso and shoulders. He strove to throw her body to the side through strength alone.
"I know." he spoke, through the flesh and fur in his mouth. "And I would not ask you to."

She let go of his shoulder as she closed her eyes, her head dropping to the ground as she panted. "Never give up the fight.." She sighed and lay there, her breathing heaving as she whimpered to herself, disgusted with herself over her loss.
HP: 0 The purple tinged male stepped forward, his chill seeping around the clearing. "Enough. She has been beaten. Go crow your victory to your friends." Sitting beside Taki he sniffed her wounds and began to wash them.

HP: 5 A'cuil was silent for a moment, realizing how still she lay. He was exhausted; bones and flesh and various hurts all came rolling back to him, as the fighting wolf within died down. He released her throat gently and licked the wound as his jaws parted with her skin. Low chuckles came from between those teeth. "Spoken, like a warrior..." There was a moment of silence, panting, as A'cuil gathered his words to the prone fae. "If ever we meet those who mocked your colors, Taki, show them to me. I will do what you, clearly, had the will to resist. Truly, you are a mighty warrior."
He might have said more, but his quiet diatribe was ruined by cold purple scorn. A'cuil bristled with indignation at Departed's words. "A victory in righteous combat is nothing to be crowed. Fool! You dishonor the match." A'cuil's hackles had already risen. He was loathe to leave his opponent in the hands of one who... obviously, did not understand what had just unfolded. But Departed was the medic; and he had no choice.
With one more look at Taki, assuring himself that she was safe, A'cuil departed the field of trial.

A sly smirk appeared on Departed's lips as he watched the warrior depart. "There is a fine line between warriors and fools." Grasping Taki's scruff he easily hauled her up and carried her to a place that would be suffice for a safe place to keep her.
