in greek and norse mythology the golden apples were eaten by the gods often. in norse mythology when the golden apple caretaker Idunn was stolen away, the gods and goddess got older and sicker without the apples to eat. in greek mythology the Trojan war was caused by a golden apple inscribed "to the fairest" where 3 goddesses fought over it. also in greek mythology the garden that grew the apples was in the north, it could be the same area as idunn's garden. maybe they weren't just apples, but a special alien fruit? lol

Paraphrased examples:
-In Greek Mythology, the apple was made by Dionysus and it stands for either a woman's breasts or when cut in half, the vulva.
-Its early connotations are with the Earth, fertility, change, desire and destruction ( The Goddess Eris used it as her weapon).
-The Chinese deem the apple as both linked with peace(p'ing) and disease(ping), ergo, they must not be given to the sick.
-Apple blossoms, on the other hand are a symbol of feminine beauty.
-Later on, East of the Mediterranean, the Apple became a Fig or a Pomegranate and in versions of the Adam and Eve story, the serpent(Again linked with cthonic wisdom) hands the fruit to Eve(As an extension of the Earth's womb).
-The Apple , in Latin is called malus or malum... ergo, similar to the word for bad or evil: malum.(All subjective to interpretation)
-In a larger view, the apple is a symbol for the cosmos and all of creation. Kings and rulers would hold an apple along with their sceptre.
-In the Christian Era, the Cross took the role of the Apple to signify the Earth.
-In Celtic Mythology, Avalon literally means Land of Apples, and brings great joy.
