...For an alternate ME timeline.

You'll have to be familiar with the Fallout series of games for this to make much sense, but... Also, keep in mind this is an alternate timeline, so events are intentionally out of order from the one presented in the ME games.

----

By 2286, five years after Fallout: New Vegas takes place, humans have been struggling to survive on the radiation blasted Earth for over 200 years. The New California Republic and New Vegas have made peace with one another due to the actions of an Ex-Courier, formerly working for the Mojave Express. Rumor has it this Courier was involved in the death of Mr. House, the ancient former ruler of New Vegas, but these are generally dismissed as conspiracy theory paranoia.

Thanks to the actions of this middle-man, New Vegas was made a part of the NCR, but allowed to self-govern. In the interim, President Kimball was impeached due to his imperialistic presidency, and the Ex-Courier ran for president against President Tandi’s son (allowed to do so due to his extraordinary achievements and good deeds for the Republic), and won the election. The newly elected President did much to ease off the hatred of the NCR and restore its original peaceful, democratic image by cooperating with the wastes rather than conquering, not to mention healing the rifts between newly annexed territory with diplomacy and developmental aid.

In a less than a decade, The Ex-Courier had united the entire continent of North America under the flag of the NCR.

It was one December morning in 2294 that first contact was made with another race, the salarians. Official first contact, anyways; rumors persist amongst conspiracy theory groups that someone known as "The Lone Wanderer" encountered another race before this; the story is generally dismissed as absurd, but there is evidence pointing to some consistent truths.

The salarians explain to the humans that there is currently a terrible war being waged all over the galaxy; The Rachni Wars. The humans, having lived for generations on the blasted earth, are naturally resistant to radiation and poisons, and could turn the tide of the wars, and were chosen as an alternative over a violent and brutish race known as the krogan for their calmer nature and capacity for adaptiveness and ingenuity.

The NCR, representing humanity, gladly accepted the help of the salarians, and with their help were "culturally uplifted", and given modern technology. All elements of humanity were bought under the flag of the double-headed bear in a long campaign by the Ex-Courier, and humanity became one state for the first time in their history. Romantic tales of the President visiting settlements across the world along with the salarians and the NCR rangers and amazing the world through their newly acquired advanced tech, and then pleading for humanity to unite for the greater good, are fondly remembered by later generations.

After uniting the species, humanity relocated to Mars, taking some Super Mutants and Ghouls with them, who were the last of their kind due to their sterile nature, caused by radiation. Humanity, after moving, razed every last city on Earth, leaving it as a nature preserve and forbidding anyone, human or alien, to set foot on the surface again, leaving a watch post on Luna. Humanity now lives inside sealed arcology cities on Mars and open ones on its colonies.

The New California Republic transitioned into the System of Sol Alliance, or SSA, known mostly by the moniker of “The Alliance” across the galaxy. Shortly after the move to Mars, a bunker was discovered filled with prothean relics, which experts ironically predicted may have led humanity to the stars on their own in another world. After a decade of preparation, in which weapons and armor were forged, new research was undertaken, and soldiers were trained and arranged in vast armies, humanity exploded off of Mars and into a century long campaign to eradicate the rachni from the galaxy.

Human hardsuits, sleek, smooth T-70a Power Armor with shields and modern technology, became a symbol of hope on the vids galaxy-wide, as the humans bravely fought off the rachni, world after world. Finally driving them back to their toxic homeworld after a century of war, the humans pleaded with the rachni queens to surrender, but the rachni seemed driven, even possessed by some outside force, and the humans were left with no other choice but to terminate them all.

Lacking numbers, the humans won the wars through their natural ingenuity and tactics, robot auxiliaries, as well as their resistance to radiation. The humans’ successful use of robots and AI in their armies without incident piqued the interests of the galactic community, and lessened the suspicion of Artificial Intelligence somewhat. The geth remained a pariah to the galaxy, but the council ruled that newly discovered and newly created AI would be given the chance to prove themselves compliant before being dismantled.

The 1950's retro-futuristic theme of human culture on pre-uplift Earth has all but vanished; music has evolved into a popular style known as "new wave", and cities on human worlds are aglow with lighting and decorations that dazzle the galaxy.

Humanity's military is a vast, complex, bewildering, and near-byzantine organization; it exists independently from any terrestrial government, as an arm of the Systems Alliance (an interstellar continuation of the System of Sol Alliance).

Faced with no overpopulation problem, the humans never had a genophage placed on them, and by 2383, 200 years after where ME 1 takes place in the main timeline, the geth are reported to be seen outside the veil for the first time in centuries...

After an attack on the human colony of Eden Prime by a newly discovered and near-unknown race known as the turians (led by a charismatic dictator named Saren Arterius), a wild series of events takes place...

That is kinda cool but if you take if from the Fallout series...besides space flight most of the tech and weapons from fallout would be more advanced because of the years of wars and struggles against the desert plains. I mean huge robots, super mutants, and that power armor. Although that would be an interesting part as well.

hmmmm....well either way I would call dips on the Fatboy or the Guass sniper rifle from Operation Anchorage.

Not really.

The technology of the T-51b Power Armor is just behind that of the combat hardsuits from ME, all it's lacking is shields.

And the robots are all laughably underpowered compared to some of the larger weapons of war the council races have access to.

As for all the weapons, humanity uses modern, infinite-ammo type guns described in the codex, but patterned to look like weapons from their homeworld, specifically, made to look like the R-91 assault Rifle (Called "Assault Rifle" in game) from Fallout 3.

But you do have to recall most of the war machines were lost from the constent war. They talked about that big robot in fallout 3 (sorry I forgot the name but I hope you know what I am talking about) and called it a light weapon compared to the weapons of old. I tell you what if they had a couple of those things on eden prime I think Saren would need more then just some armatures. If you get the Mothership Zeta pack for fallout 3 you can actually find armor that has sheilds that you can bring back to the scientists to be reversed enginered, but you never get to see it or use it so how good it is could be anyones guess. Though the infinate ammo really doesn't apply with the new heat sink clips now. All Fallout needed was rechargable batteries to power their lasers.

I guess in the end you never really know what it would have looked like and what technology they had before the bombs fell. They talk about space flight a little and you can get a clue from all the debrise and what not but it is just too destroyed to tell.

I don't take wild speculation into considering what "could have" been around before the bombs, I use actual canon information gleaned from official sources, like the Fallout Wiki.

As for the Thermal Clips, they're not around in game 1, and this covers alternate versions of the events in game 1.

yeah true...lets just agree that if the star wars galaxy met them all the council races would be screwed. Long live emporer Palpatine!

God could you imagine those two universes meeting. Suck that turians, humans control this galaxy now. twisted

Speaking of the turians, I had the idea that in 2385 (Second Game Era for this timeline), the turians are the newcomers, rather than the raloi species that was mentioned on the Cerberus Network.

At the time of "game 1", the Council is just asari and salarians, but by "game 2", it's asari, salarians, and humans.

The events that lead to the turians being discovered give THEM the attitude humans have in the main timeline, in this new one, the turians are your generally xenophobic and aggressive species.

I don't think there's enough people in the BoS or NCR to deal with galactic problems; there's already enough going on in New Vegas or the Capital Wasteland, let alone the whole world or galaxy.

I just don't think the world would be united enough.

And I bet as soon as the Salarians saw Super Mutants, they'd turn their ship around. rofl
