Enchanté! I speak english as my first language too, and I really don't think you'll have a problem between Spanish and French. I take Latin as well as French, and the biggest thing between romance languages I've found is that even though words are spelled, and mean the same thing, they sound really different. I've failed many an exam on that. Stay with French, it really is a fun language! blaugh

My main language is English too. It's my first year taking french classes in school. Who wants 2 chat?

I speak English as well for a first language. I can normally read French, but speaking it and coming up with good sentences is pretty bad for me.
I haven't taken French in two years, my last college did not offer it, and now I have to teach myself really. So I joined this guild so I'm constantly exposed to the French language.

Bonsoir tout le monde! Je ne suis pas sur Gaia souvent, mais je veux dire salut a vous! Comment allez-vous? Je prends le cours de francais en mon universitaire cette annee pour les deux semestres. Alors, je suis meilleur avec le francais que j'etais des mois avant. Mais... je ne suis pas tres bonne maintenant. Peut-etre un jour biggrin

Je suis heureuse de voir qu'une anglophone comme toi veut tant parler français. Quand moi, j'ai dû apprendre l'anglais, cela a été difficile car mon professeur était nul et personne ne m'aidait. Oui... mon professeur moi dit que j'ecris bon en francais pour une eleve qui apprendre le francais pour comme trois mois. Je vais etre meilleur un jour parce que je vais apprendre le langue apres cette annee. Aussi, mon professeur moi dit je dois ecrire en francais dans ma (ou mon? je ne sais pas) cahier tous les jours pour aider avec mon francais. Quand j'ecris et je lis sur ce guild m'aide aussi 3nodding mais j'oublie des choses comme quels mots sont masculin ou feminin sweatdrop c'est difficile parce qu'en anglais, il n'y a pas ces types de mots. Je sais trois annees de l'espagnol et avec l'espagnol, beaucoup de mots le fin du mot on dit quel sexe est le mot. Mais en francais il est un peu de plus difficile. Pour moi rofl . Aussi avec l'espagnol, une lettre semble le meme tous les temps en les mots differents. Pour le francais (et l'anglais aussi) c'est different avec chaque mot. Donc, un peu de choses sont difficile pour moi. razz Mais j'apprendre. Le francais est un beau langue. Un jour, j'espere que voyager a Quebec ou France. Quebec est comme huit heures loin de moi avec une voiture, mais pour France est plus des heures. Et j'ai besoin d'utiliser un avion si je vais a France, c'est cher. Mais j'espere que voir France un jour. J'habite a Maryland, et toi?

That's a clever little name for a language program, The Rosetta Stone.
Like many of the posters above, English is my first language. I'm taking French and I really like it, but I'm awful with pronounciations; I can spell stuff better, I think. Also, the way English phrases translate to French sets my mind a bit backwards, what with "How old are you?" translating to the equivalent to "How many years do you have?". I kind of like it though, the possessive way of looking at things. xD

Oh hai!
I'm also a native English speaker, though I've taken French since 8th grade...currently I'm a freshman in college (only sixteen though -- I said "screw it" to the last two years of high school & went to an early college). AP was really really good prep for me, though I find that my French is still really annoyingly "stuffy" and formal...I mean, my English is like that as well but at least I know I have the capacity to "loosen it up" a small bit.
