Jesus....or Buddha. Those are good role models. Cause they were closer to human.
While I agree that if you are looking for a good role model Buddha is an excellent choice, I don't think Jesus is. Jesus claimed repeatedly to be fully God and man. That was, in effect, one of the pillars his entire ministry was built upon. Denying that He is God, or just conveniently ignoring the fact that most of His entire life was based on the premise that he is God, invalidates him as a 'good role model'. If he was who he claimed to be and you disagree, then he can't be a good role model because you disagree with His teachings. If he wasn't who he claimed to be, then he was a liar and a fraud, chiefly responsible for what must be the biggest lie in all history, and thus also ineligible for the 'good role model' position.
Regardless of the lies and speculations of his existence and true form, the ideas he gave about being a better person and never putting yourself before others is what makes him a good role model. Hell, I say claim yourself to be God or his holy son all you wish, just do whatever it takes to prove you are "The Benevolent One". Do that and I'll accept you are a possibility.
Read more bible. Jesus in fact claims to be both him, and his father in several parts, or is referred to as the father.
For example, Saul, A.K.A. Paul, was beset by a light according to the bible, and struck unable to see men or blind, depending on how you take the word salad that is a document that has been translated too many times. Either way, the source of the light spoke to him, asking why he was persecutting his lord, god's followers. Saul asks who are the followers, and is told Jesus and his buddies, and to go find a specific priest.
