so if i put unknown for a immortal parent i would override that here and say the parent my character is related to right? or is that another place that i haven't gotten to yet?
This is another part you might not have reached as of yet, and yes, its related to the parentage system, seeing as how parentage is descended from Ancestry.
For instance, Mina Alvizu and her father are descended from Hercules, himself, yet Mina's a daughter of Aphrodite and her father's rumored to be a child of a Nereid[i don't know which one, but i am sure its not Amphritrite!]
That affects the fighting system in a new way, somewhat, when i recall it.
