Since NO ONE has made my News and Whatnots sub-forum yet (lol), here's the first. Not the usual unbiased objective opinions you will normally get here,this is more of a rant..to wit:
Why in Bast's name have we not slapped the BP execs in jail yet? Allow me to explain. One week before the catastrophe, BP was informed by several scientists that this was a disaster in the making. Workers on the rig told the higher-ups of "dangerously unstable" shaft conditions. This is the only shaft of this kind being used in our part of the world. It has fewer safety features and (obviously, in hindsight) a far greater chance of calamity.
My point is this - all the evidence and testimony points to British Petroleum executives being well aware of the high risk of disaster...yet chose to proceed anyway for "cost effectiveness". I'm so glad they saved a few damned pennies. After all, money is far more important than the wanton destruction of valuable ecosystems, the scores of dead or dying marine wildlife, the loss of beach utilization, the increased cost the American taxpayer is undoubtedly going to stuck with for cleaning BP's mess.
So enjoy your - literally - filthy lucre, BP. Enjoy your mountains of blackened gold, your enriched bank accounts. But do this. Stop bombarding my YouTube with propagandized "friend" requests. Stop demanding Twitter cease criticisms. Stop promoting blatantly FALSE videos claiming you "care". But most of all, the number one thing I want, from the bottom of my little Pagan heart..
STOP RUINING OUR FRIGGIN" OCEANS!

I hate BP. My friends and I have added them to our list of boycotts, which has long included Exxon Mobil. (Though I suppose it's only a matter of time before we learn earth-shattering news about every other oil company, thus rendering us unable to morally purchase a single drop of gasoline. Now where the hell are those electric cars?!?)
Of course, I do feel that I have to point out the fact that if there were more stringent regulations regarding oil drilling, and those regulations were strictly enforced and adhered to, this probably wouldn't have happened in the first place. Then again, only socialists put regulations on massive companies, and everyone knows that socialists are Nazis. rolleyes
