History
This... This was not good.
Grith tried desperately to quieten the screeching hare that was now suffering the loss of a foot. How was Grith to know he wouldn't like the taste of hare when he had caught this creature? In fact, he was fighting the desire to vomit right now, after blood had been swallowed. The foot he had managed to snap clean from the hare's body now lay a little way away. The hare was in obvious and loud pain, but the Kerl couldn't for the life of him understand what it was screeching about. Its words were lost on his ears, and all he heard was the terrified cries of the maimed hare as it tried to limp away, only to be dragged back by the Kerl who was trying to right his wrong!
"Look, I've said I'm sorry to you, what else do you want me to do?!" He looked around, nervous of being found with this still alive prey creature. He really was a bit useless! First he realised he didn't like the taste of weasel, after that incident a few days ago, and now he had found out the hard way he didn't like hare! At least with the weasel it had managed to get away with just a n** and a little trail of blood! This one had just had to go and get his foot nipped off! Only a young varg, he had been used to his mother bringing him meals, up until a few weeks past. Things had definitely gone down hill from there. He knew there was something meaty he really liked, but so far, all his attempts to catch that meaty delight had ended up with something really nasty happening.
The hare continued to flail about and try and get away, so Grith brought it close to him and trapped its neck under a paw.
"Listen bozo! I didn't mean to chew off your foot, alright! It was an accident! If you hadn't tried to run away, I would have found out I didn't like hare and you could have gone off to live your life with all four feet, but you didn't, did you!!!" Exasperated, Grith sat, paw still on the hare, even though it was starting to look as though it was a little choked, and was pressing at the huge grey paw with its own hind-legs. Cyan eyes watched it comically, but didn't let up. "Stop it will ya! I'm trying to think of a way for this to sort itself out!!" The hare seemed to give up, and look exasperatedly at the varg that held it captive. Grith frowned back at it, and dragged the little foot toward himself with the other forepaw, looking at it interestedly. Perhaps.... perhaps they could find someone to reattach it? That was it!! Wagging his tail excitedly, he pointed at the foot, and then the leg it had been taken off of.
"I've got it! I know what to do! There is that place, you know, with the humans! Surely they could reattach this for you! You know, stick it back on!" The hare looked confused, as though not understanding. How could it not understand? "Look, I ain't gonna eat ya! I just want to be friends, yeah? I'll help you find someone to reattach your foot, and then we'll be even!" He looked pleased with his idea. He let the hare up, who still looked extremely confused by this giant varg not eating him whole. The pain still shot through the missing foot, and he was desperate to go, but that varg was just too weird to let him go. He sat still and watched as Grith picked up his foot in his jaws, gentle as though it was a pup, and placed it in front of him.
"We got to get that stuck back on! Do you understand?" The hare shrugged a little, ears back. Grith let out a sigh, and picked up the foot, before motioning for the hare to follow. A little indignant that a varg had his foot, the hare limped after the Kerl, confused as hell.
Days went past, with very little progress. The Kerl that was followed by a footless hare became a bit of a joke with the varg that did see them, and all were asked where the nearest human town was. One passer-by had been kind enough to tie a band around the foot so that it was easier for Grith to carry in his quest to get it reattached. The hare, though still confused by why he was following this crazy varg, found it actually quite fun in the end, and as he was with a varg, seemed less likely to be food for one that DID like hare as a main course! However, he might not have been so fond of the idea if he could understand what he was being called by the varg!
"Hey there Carrion, how's your leg doing? I have to admit, Car', that this foot ain't smelling so good! I hope it can still be attached when we find someone who can! Else it might be a bit of a dodgy foot! Might fall off of its own accord. D'ya know, this smell's why I decided to call you Carrion? Yeah, its true. Smells a lot like that stuff. Gross huh? Least I'm carrying it for ya eh?" These wholly one sided conversations occurred often as the bizarre pair continued on their quest to find a human that would aid them fix the wrong done.
And to top it off, Grith still hadn't found that meat that his mother had sicked up for him and he had enjoyed so much! Typical!
