I absolutely love the game, the story is pretty good, but it's the learning the abilities bit that I loved most. You'll have noticed that the learning system is very similar to FF9's system, and I loved that as well. I think the best thing besides the job and ability system is the fact that you can take the game at your own pace, you don't have to plow through the story, in fact the game is quite tough if you try to. The recruiting system is ok, not as good as the one from FFTA2, but you can work it to your advantage.

Playing FFTA and FFTA2 together, I was able to see the imbalance in many skills in FFTA (berserk, sleep, and stop is awesome in FFTA), but still, I enjoyed playing FFTA.
I also love learning the skills. The AP gain system encourages one to do battles at a faster pace compared to FFT where you can stay in one map and grind enough points to master everything.
I don't know how far I am in the game as of now, as krozza has pointed out, I am playing the game at my own pace. whee I usually play before I sleep; more like, I play it to exhaust myself so I can sleep. xp

I have the game, really great if you don't own a PS2... DX I have beaten the main story line and the after story line, lots of fun. As everyone else said, the learning ablility is the best thing about it! If you want a great and strong character, turn Marche into a Paladin, S: Double Sword, Combo: Knight Combo, Ability: Hunter, Fighter (I have another paladin like this and he is my greatest character), or Illusionist. Equipment: Peytral, Genji Armlets, Dash Boots or Ninja Tabi, Nagnarok/Sequence, and EXCALIBUR 2!!! XD

Is it too late for me to save your soul from this game? it is a bad idea! I played this and almost wanted to claw my eyes out because the whole game hinges on Marche freaking Radiuju. . . He is a selfish whiner and a really bad hero. Play Final Fantasy Tactics. So much better good story-line and game play + no Marche = so much winning
