"Aw, did my sarcasm hurt your feelings?"

For some reason, Ea's heart made a little jump when she said she was going alone. He felt a little weird about that, but he didn't show it too much. And if he did, he'd look no more confused than he was. An odd-looking half-smile plastered his lips, and you could see in his eyes that this attempt at smiling and nice-ness was costing a major effort. "Well," he began, scratching behind his head with his free hand. "I guess maybe I could go in for a minute or two." he said.

But his face still portrayed his apprehension. But then his smile seemed to relax at a single prospect as he said "I can't just let you go alone after all. It wouldn't be chivalrous. Now, I hope you don't mind, but this smiling is kind of painful. Can I stop now? I just didn't wanna scowl like I usually do and frighten you off. It's kind of a bad habit..." he admitted before gently letting the smile go. sure enough his jaw was sore from the effort.

"Well, I guess you'll just have to go into your wee little emo-corner and have yourself a cry then."

Seamus watched Johnathon leave. He was still undecided about how much he liked the other boy, but he had redeemed himself at the last second, so perhaps he wasn't all bad. "I'm going to excuse myself as well." Seamus nodded politely to the group of girls. "See you tonight then, Angel?" He winked and was off, down the path Anna had disappeared from.

There were a few stubborn thorns jutting from the sides of the path that were difficult to avoid, although Seamus gave it his best shot. A wayward thorn shot out and scratched the back of his hand drawing blood. Bloody plants, can't even be content with sunlight, gotta be out for human blood. Bloody Anna, has to run off after the jungle boy, Johnathon.. can't even check on her... do everything myself.. Anna was in one piece at least, from what he could tell. He reached her just as the jungle boy announced himself to chivalrous to let her go alone.

"I'd say you were too damp to be much use but you seem to have remedied that. Plus she's not going alone." Of course she was going to pitch a fit if he said he was taking her, but he'd offered. "She and Angelica are going together."

Anna watched as Ea finally smiled, and she let out a sigh of relief when he said he'd go to the party, even if it'd only be for a short time. Johnathon would be proud of her for being able to hold a conversation without anyone getting angry. Or being insulted. It was at least like that until he mentioned that he couldn't let her go alone. He had known her for all of, what, five minutes and had already decided she was too weak to be able to go to a party by herself? And the reasoning behind it was probably because she was a woman, and thus obviously not capable of being able to do anything by herself. Her eyes hardened and one hand curled into a fist, and she managed to bite her tongue as he continued on, asking if he could stop smiling. It was almost as if she had asked him to do so.

She was about to speak when Seamus showed up out of the path, saying something about how she wasn't going alone. Her temper seemed to bubble over right there, and she immediately began to glower at him. He managed to keep her from snapping about never agreeing to go with him when he said that she was going with Angelica. "I am, Seamus? That's certainly news to me." she said coldly.

"Aw, did my sarcasm hurt your feelings?"

He realised at her expression that he should have kept his big mouth shut, because it looked as if she were going to turn him into a newt. Why couldn't he just be nice longer than five minutes. He was about to apologize (twice in one day? must be a miracle) when another person came out from the trees, making him visibly uncomfortable. Too many people. Andromeda must have thought so too for she gave a hoot and swam off, leaving Ea with his own kind. 'Don't leave' he thought desperately as he turned to see green scales shimmer into the blackness. 'I need someone to talk to that I actually understand...'

But then the boy began to speak and make some comment about him being wet. It wasn't really an insult, but it was ignition enough for him to put back up his mental firewall. His face became a scowl and his eyes seemed to glow in his skull. Reining in his anger, Ea made sure that he didn't let himself grab for his wand, which seemed to call for him from his pocket. As is sensing the danger, Moxy licked his hand and Ea cooled down enough to hear she was going with Angelica, who he remembered to be a Slytherin. "Well whoop-dee-doo," he said in a tone that expressed how little he cared, stuffing Moxy into his hood and getting ready to leave. "listen Anna, I didn't mean for what I said before to sound sexist... Erm... I guess I was trying to give a compliment." he mumbled, scowling harder instead of letting himself blush and show weakness. Ea grumbled something about homework and having to go and that he'd see them at the party if he decided to go before he cleared another path with his wand, one he made sure to close behind him this time. All the way back to the castle he mumbled and cursed himself as Moxy licked his ear to try and calm him down.

"Well, I guess you'll just have to go into your wee little emo-corner and have yourself a cry then."

Seamus stared at Anna evenly. The other boy growled something about the party and stormed off, but he kept his eyes on Anna until he was gone, his mumbling no longer heard through the foliage. "Oi," he said softly, "stow the glare. Were you wanting to go with him then?" He wasn't trying to start a fight with her, although it seemed she wanted one. That would be fine then, but he wanted her to know she was starting it, not him. Seamus studied his hand where the thorn had caught him. It was still bleeding although it didn't hurt.

It seemed as soon as Seamus showed, Ea's mood shifted for the worse. The scowl was back and he clearly showed how very little he cared about her going with Angelica. She watched as he left, not able to lie and tell him that what had said hadn't offended her. Once the path he made closed behind him, Anna looked back at the Slytherin she had been left with. She was about to say something before Seamus beat her to it, first telling her to quit glaring and then asking if she had wanted to go with Ea. "No, I didn't. But I'm perfectly capable of telling him no myself." she responded, folding her arms under her chest. It was then that she noticed the back of his hand was bleeding. "You okay?" she asked, facial expression softening a bit.

"Well, saved you the trouble then." Seamus wasn't sure she'd see it that way though. His eyes flicked up from his hand, looking at Anna through his hair. Pushing his lower lip out a bit in a pout he asked, "Mad at me? If yes then I am not okay, and might need extensive medical attention. Do you know CPR?"

Anna didn't bother responding to his first comment, instead rolling her eyes. She didn't feel much like arguing, especially not with Seamus, who seemed to be as determined to have the last word as she was. When he responded to her question as to whether he was okay or not, she looked moderately confused. "I know CPR, though I'm not sure what that has to do with your - " she cut herself off as her brain fully processed what he had said. Narrowing her eyes, she tried to keep the heat from rising to her face, and already knew she was doing a miserable job at it. "Cute, Seamus." she said flatly after some time.

A grin spread across Seamus' face as he watched Anna's growing comprehension, and embarrassment. "Cute, Seamus" she shot at him. A laugh escaped before he could suppress it. "You're not so bad yourself, love." He gestured to his hand. "I think I'll live yet." Although he certainly wasn't going to turn down CPR, if it came right down to it. After a moments silence he brushed his hair back from his face and grinned again, this time sheepishly. "I suppose you're too mad to save me a dance then, yeah?"

The Ravenclaw continued glaring at the boy as he turned her remark back at her. Rather than say anything, she worked on ridding the heat from her face. By the time she had managed to do so, he was saying he'd live. "Pity." she said under her breath, unsure of whether he heard or not. She couldn't be sure as he was already speaking again. Anna arched an eyebrow when the Slytherin asked if she was too mad to save him a dance. The sheepish grin on his face wasn't something that she'd see from him, as shy or embarrassed weren't words she had come to identify with Seamus. Decidedly, she didn't think too much into it. "I wouldn't exactly call what goes on at these parties dancing." she replied, trying not to make it obvious that she was attempting to shift the subject.

"What exactly would you call it then? I was under the impression it was dancing, just not what I'd had to learn growing up." Seamus lifted a brow, waiting for a response. He'd had to learn classical dancing at his mother's insistence. She'd believed it would be necessary in their society, for finding a wife. That was before the traveling. They barely kept in touch with any pure families now, although the expectations hadn't changed.

Seamus pulled himself out of his memory, he wasn't going to let Anna off without answering. Whatever she was going to call it, he wanted her to save one.

Anna bit down on her lip when he responded to what she had said. She honestly hadn't been expecting him to persist with the dancing topic, and it threw her off a bit. "Er, well." She pushed her fringe out of her face, trying to stall as she tried to figure out the correct thing to say. "Do you know what grinding is? It's like...you know what, forget I said anything." she cut herself off quickly, deciding it best not to tell him what it was if he didn't already know. If he did, she'd refuse to talk about it any further.

Letting out an audible sigh, she stared down at the ground before looking back up and meeting his gaze. "If I save you a dance, do you promise to leave me alone the rest of the night?" Something told her that he wasn't going to drop it, and that didn't help the fact she suddenly felt childish.

Grinding? Ohh. Seamus nodded as Anna abruptly stopped talking. He was familiar. Then, she heaved a sigh and tried to make a deal. "Oh absolutely not. I don't make promises if I can't keep them. Who knows how the night will go! But if you won't, I promise to hound you all evening until you give in." He grinned mischievously.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 13, 2010 11:25 pm

Anna scowled as soon as Seamus started talking, turning down the deal. In the back of her mind, she knew that it would turn out like that. Her lips parted as she started to flat out tell him no when he said he'd hound her until she gave in. She seemed to pale slightly before she narrowed her eyes into a glare. It hadn't taken her long to figure out that having Seamus follow her around all night was a fate worse than death. "Fine. One dance." she said after a moment, trying not to choke on her words.
