Yeah, that was about my same reaction. They like completely s**t on the source material and all my friend could say in his defense why it was awesome: They were lazy.
Or something like that, that's the sum of it. They were lazy, didn't want to add more effects for those crazy a** demons and weird-a** Outland lands and s**t. They just made everything pseudo realistic and dark like most comic-book adaptations now-a-days (yes it counts, Mortal Kombat had it's own comic book line too. Whores.) And they killed Johnny Cage in the trailer. THE TRAILER. THE MOTHER ******** TRAILER. A pivotal Mortal Kombat universe killed in the trailer?!
