In which Jianyu tries to find muscles he doesn’t have. |8

Setting:
The training grounds.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 08, 2010 3:11 pm

Jianyu was nowhere to be found, and Bataar was beginning to grow increasingly frustrated. He hadn’t seen the other man for a good few days now, and despite the fact that he often got lost around the Imperial City, he’d been doing his best to seek his boyfriend out. After all, it was unusual that the other Lunarian hadn’t come to him in the past few days—they were usually connected at the hip, almost always together these days, engaging in PDA as well as PDV(public display of violence). They were an unpredictable pair, and generally the only thing that one could predict was that they were going to be together.

But they weren’t.

He’d been everywhere—hell, he’d even lurked around Jianyu’s house! His efforts thus far had been absolutely fruitless, however, and he’d failed to find the other man. This had resulted in the fact that Bat was now desirous to kick something—punch something, too, maybe. He’d descended upon the training grounds with an angry sort of aura, his green eyes glowing with fury as he cracked his knuckles. Bat was quite ready to execute something—anything! Surely, this activity would serve as something to keep his mind off of Jianyu’s mysterious absence.

And then he saw him. He’d been storming around the training grounds, looking for a worthy opponent, and he’d been told to go find “that one guy.” Well, Bataar had certainly located the man they’d been talking about, but his identity had been completely unexpected. Jianyu?” Bat gaped as he tried to comprehend just what his boyfriend had been doing in order to gain such infamy on the training grounds. He eyed him with confusion, not having the good grace to express his anger at first. It wasn’t long before he decided he had every right to be mad.

”Where the hell have you been?”

The second man had been quite easy to defeat. A quick twist to the right, a curving of his body to the left, a grab to the man's thinner wrist, and then all that was left was for him to slide his feet back and he could throw his opponent over his shoulder, leaving him on his back on the hard-packed dirt ground. It was hardly a worthy fight; over in less than five minutes.

Jianyu twisted his neck from side to side, ignoring the small flush of pain that simple movement caused. There was a nasty gash running from the side of his forehead down his cheek from a particularly brutal opponent, and a myriad of bruises were dotted across his bare chest. He was hot and he was tired, sweat gleaming in the hollow of his collarbone, but he was not planning on stopping anytime soon. At least not until he had gained a fair amount more of muscular definition. Bataar's comment about him being "scrawny" had kept ringing in his mind ever since the Mongol had said it, and Jianyu was determined to be rid of that particular attribute.

Jianyu moved a hand across his damp forehead. He was reaching for a towel to wipe the blood off his face with when he heard a familiar voice call his name, his tone going from confused to angry in a matter of seconds.

"Hey." Jianyu said, walking over to him. He brushed a light kiss to Bataar's lips before turning away, rubbing absently at the bruise on his side. "I've been here. Training. Nothing special."

Bataar gazed in Jianyu's direction, managing to look faintly shocked. What the hell was he even doing? He looked injured, flushed, and hot. It was actually rather appealing to the Mongolian, although he hid it. He didn't want Jianyu to know that he was at all pleased with his prolonged absence, because, of course, he was completely angry. He didn't deserve to be neglected like this! Jianyu should have at least invited him along.

Training? "You're bleeding." Bat pointed out dryly, stabbing a finger out to poke one of the other man's bruises in curiosity. "Why're you training, anyway? It looks like you're just trying to figure out the best method to fall down the stairs." He grinned, knowing that he was taunting the legionnaire. Still, he found it amusing that someone he considered so scrawny should be trying to build up muscle mass.

His irritation was bordering on high in the first place, and so he felt that Jianyu deserved every single taunt he could spit out. "You never train this much." he muttered in complaint, trying not to look as moody as he was.

Jianyu was feeling particularly irritable today. Besides the fact that he was hot, bruised, scraped, and bloodied, he seemed to have not done much for enhancing his muscular definition. His body was strong, yes, but it was nowhere near the level that he wanted it to be, and he disliked remembering the word "scrawny' in relation to himself.

"I am quite aware that I am bleeding, thank you, Bataar." Jianyu said tiredly as he reached for the towel again. His hand jerked as the Mongol jabbed at his side, and he let out a sharp grunt of pain, his eyes flashing towards the man.

"Don't touch it, idiot!" he snapped, swiping a hand over his sweat-streaked face and pushing his damp hair back away from his forehead. "And I'm training because I want to! I am not falling down the stairs."

Jianyu pressed the cloth to his head, ignoring the stinging pain that the gesture caused. It came away stained red, blood sticking to the fabric. He glanced back over at Bataar.

"Please," he said, with a derisive snort. "It's not like you miss me when I'm gone at any rate. So you can stop your 'oh, woe is me!' act, please."

Bat raised an eyebrow, although he couldn’t help but smirk at the other man’s snappish behavior. ”Yes, well, I’d think you might want to stop and get that fixed up.” he replied dryly, seeing no need for sustaining such injuries in training. It was unlike Jianyu to push himself like this for something so trivial, yielding so many injuries. Even Bataar couldn’t really advocate such a practice, and so he was left staring in utter confusion.

In fact, he might have said Jianyu was a little too injured for his own good. ”Hey, hey! Don’t be so touchy, okay? You’re practically asking for bruises like this if you use this method to train.” he pointed out, looking faintly unimpressed. Improvement usually didn’t occur in a day or two, as it looked like Jianyu was supposing. In fact, Bat had to wonder why he was even bothering to train at all. Just because he sucked and was scrawny was no reason to push himself so hard! Or so Bataar believed.

He huffed as he got the rebuff from the other man, looking a bit taken aback. ”Well, it certainly irks me to see you with all these self-inflicted injuries when you could be around me.” Really, he believed himself to be highly preferable to this sort of vicious training. ”What’s to train, anyway, pipsqueak?” he inquired, using one of his old nicknames for the other man; one that he knew Jianyu despised.

"I will get it fixed, thank you, Bataar." Jianyu replied, slightly exasperated. He pressed the cloth a bit more firmly to his forehead, wincing involuntarily. The cut was deeper than he had expected, the blood making his fingers slippery. "It is not as bad as it looks."

Wiping his face, Jianyu turned to face Bataar, his expression unhappy. He did not like being reminded of the fact that he was most likely doing a bit more than was necessary in his training. The fact that in his second-to-last fight he had almost had his eye taken out by the man with the hidden dagger was proof enough of that. But something inside of him kept driving him to push himself harder, to work more until he reached what he was striving for. Perhaps it was insanity.

Or perhaps it was the fact that his boyfriend did absolutely nothing and still wound up with what one might call a perfect body. It was irritating. And slightly upsetting. Jianyu scowled.

"Do not use that derogatory nickname on me." he snapped, stalking up to the Mongol, his teeth clenching. "And I do not want to be around you when all you do is insult me."

"And it is none of your business what I train for."

Bataar crossed his arms, gazing in Jianyu's direction with a slightly raised brow. "Really? Because it looks pretty bad." He was decent at being able to tell how bad this wound or that might be, even if he had no power to mend them. By the looks of the blood gushing out of this particular wound, the other man was in no small amount of trouble. Bat sighed, observing the legionnaire's defensive stance and shook his head. He could always sling Jianyu over his shoulder and carry him home once he'd passed out from blood loss, if all else failed.

The Mongol was unaware of the inner struggle the other man was going through, and probably would continue to fail to notice unless it was explicitly pointed out to him. After all, the possibility of Jianyu ever becoming buff was so far from his mind that he could not possibly have contrived that it was the other man's goal then and there. Of course, he was well-known for his thick-headed nature.

He did his best to make light of the situation when Jianyu snapped at him, and offered only a helpless sort of grin. "Well, you weren't staying around me in the first place, were you, Pipsqueak?" he replied, his tone light and his eyes serious. He wasn't certain how to let Jianyu onto the fact that he'd been uncomfortable in his absence; that sort of thing certainly wasn't manly!

"I think it's my business when you're both avoiding me and half-killing yourself."

Jianyu ground his teeth together, resisting the urge to slap Bataar. He was slightly dizzy, the loss of blood making him unusually lightheaded, but he closed his eyes briefly, breathing deeply. After a few seconds he looked back at Bataar, running a hand through his hair. There seemed to be no getting through to this man. That skull of his was far too thick. Although, to be quite honest, that was part of the overall appeal of Bataar.

"Why does it matter what I do with my free time?" Jianyu said, walking up to the Mongol. A mocking grin crossed his face, and he said "Did you actually miss me, Bataar?"

Reaching up, Jianyu threaded his fingers through Bataar's long dark hair, pulling his head down for a kiss. When he pulled away, he was smiling, but it was more of a taunting smile than a happy one. His irritation kept rising and falling, like the waves of an ocean, and it was making him feel more inclined do to stupid and idiotic things. He did not like this side of himself, the side that always seemed to be competing towards others, towards Bataar and towards everyone else. He felt unbearably inadequate, insignificant all of a sudden. It was a very unpleasant emotion.

"I know what I'm doing." Jianyu said, and pecked Bataar again before turning around. "And what I'm doing is perfectly fine. I am not doing anything harmful.

"Not that you would understand anyway."
he added sullenly, his voice low and mumbled.

Bataar knew well enough that he was on the verge of being slapped, but that did not deter him from continuing to direct his questioning gaze at Jianyu. Whatever the hell the other man's goal, it seemed beside the point to practically kill himself in the process of reaching it. Still, whatever concern he'd had was dropped the moment the other man decided to begin mocking him.

"Harumph!" he declared decisively, his green eyes narrowing as he regarded the legionnaire. "I am simply bothered when something under my ownership decides to be an idiot." He meant it in a rather nasty way, but in truth he had probably become more endearing than ever. He simply didn't know how to dole out a decent insult to someone he felt affection for. His worry was still written in the lines of his face.

He only had time to blink when Jianyu kissed him, and flushed, unsure of what exactly to feel or do afterwards. Bat was quite confused, after all, and was having a hard time deciding how to react. Instead, he listened to the legionnaire's statements, his expression still a little on the blank side as he formulated his own reply. He had to say something, because clearly Jianyu was only hurting himself.

"This isn't harmful?" the Mongol asked, reaching his hand out to probe the wound on the other Lunarian's forehead gently. It ran a lot deeper than he'd implied, which rather irritated Bataar as he glared down at him. "No, you're right, Jianyu. I wouldn't understand. I see no use in you slashing yourself to pieces, calling it 'training.'"

He thought he had every right to be pissed off by now.

"Your ownership?" Jianyu said icily, casting a dark glare back in the direction of the Mongol. "I do not recall being 'owned' by you. Last I checked, we were both in this relationship together, under mutual agreement."

Despite his irritation with Bataar, his frustration at not being able to achieve what he longed to, Jianyu was somewhat...relieved that the other man had come to find him. He had not seen Bataar for several days, determined and focused only on his attempts at increasing his body mass and heightening his muscular definition. But the truth was that he had rather missed the oafish Mongol.

Though he would never admit that in a million years. Jianyu scowled.

"It is not - OW!"

He flinched as one of Bataar's hands moved down the side of his face, skimming lightly over the gash on his forehead. It hurt quite a bit more than he had expected from such a simple touch, and Jianyu felt pain reverberate throughout his head. He reached up, his fingers closing around Bataar's, stopping his hand mid-motion.

"Do not touch it." he grumbled, his eyes flashing. "It hurts enough already without you poking and prodding at it. And this is training. Not everyone can have a body as perfect as yours, Bataar. Some of us are forced to work for it."

With a quick push, he shoved Bataar back, his temper rising.

"I will work for what I must achieve!"
