The young male tipped his head and gave her a hearty laugh, proving that his lungs were back to a water-free state. "Yes, I can see how knowing what you're doing can be a bonus . . . My father always taught me to never give up. Corny, I know," he added with an embarrassed flicker of his ears, "but I've found the advice helpful at times. My grandmother says I'm just a mule."
With that, he grinned wide and wagged his water soaked tail, looking more like his adolescent age. A flicker of thought flashed through his bi-colored eyes and he tilted his head.
"I feel that I should repay you for saving my stupid hide. Are you hungry?"
Although he had only been on his own for a short while, Phrixos was an adept hunter, having been strictly taught by Dione, the best hunter of his pack. However, fish weren't included in his hunting prowess . . . He gave a slight glance towards the water and stuck out his tongue, hoping she didn't want fish.
Please not fish, please not fish, please not fish...

"Ah. Stubborn." She understood the reference only vaguely; she had never belonged to a pack that lived near or was curious about humans, though the creatures roamed everywhere on the continent. Once in awhile she'd see them and their stupid laboring animals come by. The large-boned quadrupeds were usually docile but sometimes gave trouble.
Now this she understood, the desire of a male to provide for a female, of a youngster to demonstrate his prowess to a lady. She smirked a bit and gave her tail a flick to fluff it out, though it was still quite damp. "That sounds lovely, hon, if you've the strength for it." She yawned, demonstrating sharp ivory canines. "The woods are full o' prey; you can hardly walk without steppin' in a nest of some sort." She figured he wouldn't want any sort of adventure anywhere near the river, not for awhile. Not until he'd regained his confidence on dry land. "Shall we?" she asked, stepping toward the flora.

Sighing in relief when her body turned towards the trees, he gave his tail a wag and grinned wide. "We shall," he said with a playful glint in his eye, his eagerness to hunt shaking away the weakness that partially drowning had given him.
He would have offered for her to go first, but in this instance, he took the lead, wanting to prove to her that he wasn't a complete failure at being a male. Sure he was young, but he had been taught by hunting masters, and was a quick study.
Dropping into his hunting mindset, he focused his attention on the forest around them as they went deeper into the trees, his ears swiveling, nose constantly sniffing out any signs of potential prey.
Rabbit tracks coated the forest floor, but he wanted something a little more sustaining then one of the bucktoothed rodents, and soon his nose caught the faint scent of a deer, and he abruptly turned left as he followed the scent through the thick underbrush.
Although large, he moved gracefully and silently, barely touching any of the bushes or weeds that could give him away with the slightest shake.
Phrixos would show her how good of a hunter he already was.
