The screams could be heard a mile away but no one would come to the woman's aid. Her predator made sure to find a secluded location, in the woods, like most horror victims choose to run. She tried her best, tripped got up and tripped some more. Seidus only snickered from his perch in a tree, making the occasional noise here and there to confuse his pray. The poor woman would find no solace for rest even as she stood back to a tree she heaved in a breath and screamed when a rock fell near her foot. She took off running and tripped again...

Rolling his deep blood eyes, Seidus sighed to himself. This was the typical pray he'd gone after for many years in the past. Though by now he was growing tired of the easy pickings. Perhaps an upgrade in his hunts was in order. Go after real beasts, wild and unhindered creatures of lore... He sighed wondering where his kind had disappeared to as if they no longer existed.

Was he truly the last of his kind? Last he had checked there would have been very few historical events to lead to the locale of any other like himself. What of Mina? Had she too finally met her end? Thinking of her had momentarily distracted him from his pray who'd gotten farther out of sight then he'd like. With a quick roll of his shoulders he hurried after the woman dropping down in front of her with his usual sadistic grin. "Any last words?" And like many times before the woman screamed, a melodious symphony for his meal. Though he most certainly didn't eat humans; more or less he just hunted them and killed them. Simple as that.

Moving away from the now decapitated form, blood pool at his feet and falling in rivelets off his being, his mind began to focus on a different prey. His prey, the only woman that made him feel more emotions than his apathy could combat. Somehow she had more power over him, changing his blood-lust to simple lust and his murderous intent into possessiveness. She screwed with him in so many ways... so many delicious ways.

It was time. Time to find out if he truly were the last of his kind. If she had fallen it could not have been by normal means. Someone had to be responsible that much he was certain. And if she were killed by mortal hands he'd make each and every last human suffer for her loss. He's next destination was the next town over whichever that was he would find out once he got there and start asking questions... well he wouldn't but Ennui would.

Over in the next town there was a local parade, with floats showing off people and whatever they advertised. Churches, the schools, local businesses, you name it, there was a person and a float for it. Everyone in the town was there...well, except maybe one.

A little farther down the road, there was a woman who leaned out of the window to get a better view. She had long dark hair, bright purple eyes, and quite a perfect body. Some of the floats made her smile, some were just plain boring. In any case, this was a way for her to be with them, and yet without them.

Sighing, she turned and looked down. At her feet was a cat, who looked to be about two or three years of age. She seemed to be giving the woman a sad expression, as if it needed something and she owed it. Smirking, she crept downstairs, grabbed a bottle of milk and a bowl, and returned back to where she was without even waking the old man. He had, after all, been so good to her before. Why wouldn't he be the same now?

Pouring the milk into the bowl, she placed it on the floor where Purgatory gave it an approving look and began to lap it up. Iyemina gently petted the cat's head before returning to look out of the window. By now the parade had ended, and people were scattered everywhere. Searching through the crowd, she hoped to see a familiar face. For a moment, she thought that maybe she had recognized someone, but she lost him in the crowd while trying to get a better view. ...It couldn't have been...could it?

Ennui walked aimlessly through the crowd of onlookers, the parade coming to a end a little after he had showed. HE wasn't even sure how he'd gotten to this town -- this was happening far too much lately -- but rather than dwindle on the unimportant he decided it was best to find shelter before leaving. Under the cover of his veiled eyes he could make out figures and shapes but anything more would require the rest of his senses. Sounds and smell, the way things touched and how it appealed to him or not. Soon the crowd began to fan out and trickle down to the few that would find a quaint bar and drink the rest of their merriment away.

He did his best to bypass these individuals looking for an inn or -- "meow".

The sound of a cat wasn't so unusual but for some reason this particular cat caught his attention. The fairly blind priest-like figure turned in the cats direction shifting his curious head to the side. "Are you lost?" It was stupid to talk to an animal but he felt compelled. The cat only mimicked his movements and mewled again moving further down into an alley. Ennui gave chase moving at his slow methodical pace. They weaved through alley ways and back ways, skirting past a few drunkards and wayward people in the first stages of lust. Dipping his head Ennui did not care to indulge himself in these travesties but he wondered why he was following a cat around the small town.

When the cat came to a stop it gave one final mewl then disappear into it's home. Ennui slowly began to smile a smile that was unlike himself and with every step the apathetic priest took his outward appearance melted away to give way to the sadistic beast underneath. "Purgatory!" Seidus bellowed something akin to happiness or was it rage... whatever the case the sadistic beast rushed into the home coming only to a stop when the cat was standing at the foot of some stairs and at the top he saw a feminine feature he'd thought he'd never see again. "Little beast." He spat and knelt to scoop his precious cat into arms giving her all the affection he'd missed over the years but his attention was solely on the figure at the top of the stairs.

Gazing downwards, Iyemina saw the familiar figure she had seen earlier moving through the crowds...and in so many other places. The figure was in fact Seidus, the one person she had hoped to see again after all of these years. She smirked at him. He looked well for his age...and after killing an innocent victim.

"Well, what brings you to this lovely little cottage?" It was said rather coldly, though she never meant it that way. In truth, she did not know how to react to his sudden reappearance. Would Seidus be happy to see her as well, or did he have some other, more sinister idea? With each step down another stair, it was as if her clockwork heart were about to leap out of her chest. Did he notice? Could he sense it?

She was now about two steps away from him when Iyemina remembered the old man in the house and Seidus's love of murder. And while in most cases she could have cared less, the old man had been good to her and given her a home. If she wanted the old man to be safe, she needed one of them out of the house. Now.

"Seidus my dear, while you're telling me about your arrival, why don't we go grab a cup of tea next door? I hear they have other delightful treats to offer as well." She grinned, wrapping an arm around one of his.

He smirked. She was being cold to him again, something he missed but he knew she had missed his presence, he too had missed her but he also would not admit it. "You stink." He said simply. "I could smell you a mile away so I came to see if it was really you." He sniffed the air long enough to catch wind of the man in the house. His eyes lit up, he wanted to see what pig had been kind enough to keep his prey so comfortable all this time. His sent was everywhere and when Mina had come closer he smelled the man on her. A low growl escaped his throat as he pushed her against the wall, clawed hand finding purchase around her slender throat.

"My dear, dear Iyemina... have you allowed a human man to coddle you all this time." He didn't question it, he simply stated the fact. "So unlike you. Am I not enouogh?" He knew he wasn't able to stay at her side like she probably wanted, he liked to run free, be wild and do as he pleased. If she could live with that kind of man then maybe they were meant for each other, but then again he didn't understand that kind of emotional crap. All he knew was that he liked being around her, maybe even loved it but he couldn't begin to understand what any of these emotions meant. "You've missed me?" He asked this time. His hand moving from her throat to linger between the valley of her chest. Soon his head was laying there listening to the ticking of her clockwork heart. "I missed you?" He wasn't sure so he could only ask since all he knew was apathy and the sweetness of killing. He gave a crocked smile just before planting a surprisingly tender kiss to Mina's sweet lips.

"I'm not in the mood for tea but if protecting your human is important to you then I'll obligue..." He smiled wickedly as he let her lead him away. "For now."

Immediately Mina knew something was wrong. It started with a low growl, and then the hand around her throat. She gasped for air, clawing at the wall behind her. Steady yourself! You have to get air to get away. She now knew that Seidus could smell the old man, and had misunderstood why she smelled like him. In truth, the old man had never laid a hand on her, except when he needed her help to get around the house. Otherwise his scent was everywhere anyway...it was his house, after all. But that did not matter to Seidus. She was living with a male human, something she always knew he would never have tolerated.

When he finally released his hand from around her neck, she gasped for air. Her face, eyes, and throat burned, and she could hear a throbbing sound in her ears. Mina could feel his hand and head move, her chest pounding. She was still able to hear his questions (although one seemed almost like more of a statement), and before she could even wrap her mind around them, he kissed her. It was indeed tender, and Mina was taken by surprise. After what was going on, she certainly didn't expect that. She could feel her knees grow weak, or perhaps she simply thought that. Didn't that only happen to human girls? Now he was telling her that he would let the old man live--for now.

***

As Seidus let Mina lead him away, she turned her head to look back at the house. Perhaps it would be time for her to move again. Death would surely be upon him soon, anyway, but he deserved so much better. She knew in her heart it was the right thing to do, so she decided on it then placed her mind elsewhere. Specifically on the person next to her.

"So tell me, dear, where have you been all this time?" She smiled, happy that he was back in her company. If she had been smart, she would try to hide better after what he pulled tonight, but she loved him. And while he could never really love her back (could either of them genuinely love at all?), Iyemina knew her love was enough for the both of them. They needed each other, as the rest of the world discarded them. At the end of the day, that was really all that should have mattered.

But it wasn't.

Seidus walked in silence for a while trying to rid himself of that awful human stink. The old man was definitely passed his prime probably close to his death bed if not already lying on it. Maybe for Mina's sake he'd not double back to rip the man's throat out, at the very least he had been kind enough to keep his prey safe. It was the least he could do. The only show of kindness he probably didn't know he had. His attention returned to Iyemina as soon as her voice broke the pending silence. She always wanted to know things about him probably the same things he wanted to know of her. "I was hunting." He stated simply. He was always hunting, endlessly kill and for what? He just didn't understand it. Was his existence simply to kill and keep his other half so blindly in the dark about himself.

A hand reached out absently to collect Mina's slinder digits. He inspected them while trying to better collect his thoughts. "I've been searching..." He began again. "For a place that will be safe." He didn't bother looking to her still enthralled with how tiny her hands were, so delicate and pretty. Unlike his bruised bloody ones. They were aged and cracked from constantly fighting his prey. "I want you to be safe from these humans so I am searching for a place." Was he seriously admitting this? He had been mulling over the possibility of taking Mina away some place, so she wouldn't have to deal with selfish humans that would harm her. A little portion of his mind wanted to keep her for himself, no human deserved to be around her. Then he looked at her, "Do you love the humans?"
