Sword and Spear [Now Open! 6/6/10]

Back to Guilds

Homer's Iliad is the epic account of the events of the Trojan war. This is a Mecha/futuristic retelling of that Epic.

In this Roleplay, you really have two options for character submission. The first is to submit a character that fits the profile of one of the Roles listed Under the EA information thread or the Troy information thread. While I prefer it that way, I will allow members to create a truely unique character on either side of the war, however these profiles must fit the context and setting of this Roleplay, and are not to overlap roles who have already been taken. Meaning, If Achilles is taken, you cannot create a character who sounds just like Achilles anyway.

Guidelines for Profile Submission:
1. Write a lot! I have slots in the Profile Skeleton for you to fill out, because I feel that they are important. Unless I say otherwise, you really do need to fill out every space on the Skeleton. And please, please, please no One liners. I'll like you a lot more if you are thorough and professional with your profile, and that helps your chances to get approved!

2. Be original! Sure I'm basing all of the charactes off of existing characters, but I'm leaving a lot open for you to to make your own. Tweak some interesting history into your bio, Give your character some Flaws as well as strengths.

3. Be true to the Slot you're applying for! I know, I just told you to be original. But I do expect you to keep to your role in the RP as whatever character you choose. Dont go and pick the prettyboy "Paris" if you wanna go out there and be a friggin war hero, it just doesnt work that way.

4. Get to KNOW your characters, not their abilities! Winning a battle is not the most important thing to consider when creating your character. Give them a personality, a strong history. Make them fun to play, and play with!!!

5. Lastly, No Mary-sues. Perfect characters are hated by all! I expet every character to have flaws in some way or another. You cannot win every fight, and you cannot be loved by all. Deal with it.

MECHA or Mobile Suit Profiles:

Mecha and Mobile Suits are the weapons through which wars are fought. Various shapes, sizes, classes, and frames are created all the time. Most of the higher ranking officers prefer to have a unit customized to their specifications while lesser soldiers tend to get left with the fleet models.
Weapon systems always come equipped to your Suit, and can be changed out with other weapon systems given the correct compatibility and appropriate amount of time, Bear in mind that if your primary suit is out of commission, or being upgraded, you must use a lesser suit, or the suit of another Soldier.

MECHA PROFILES ARE SEPARATE FROM CHARACTER PROFILES!
As such, they should be treated as two different skeletons, while the two can be submitted simultaneously.

How to get your Mecha Approved:
1. Be basic. Leave room for improvement and keep an open mind to make changes in the future as new items and weapons are released to the Guild.

2. Pick one class... one. If you pick a Tank class, you cant have the speed of a Scout class. If you pick a balanced class, you wont be as powerful as a Warrior Class. In essence, you cant have your cake and eat it too.

3. Your character is not invincible, neither is your Mech! More armor does mean less damage, but too much and your speed and agility drop tremendously. And so for all practical purposes, no mech can be armored to the point that damage is zero, enough hits and even the best armor will fail. Also, no forcefields are to be allowed. Direct hits WILL cause damage so plan accordingly.

4. You cant have EVERY weapon out there, sorry! You get what the skeleton allows for. When it comes time for an Upgrade, I will inform you when that time comes. Activity is required to be eligible for an upgrade. Keep in mind that as time progresses, you will have a trade in bonus for better weapons and mechs under special circumstances, so take care of it!

5. You did not build it yourself. You're a pilot, not an expert mechanic. End of story.
