It was the undefined hour between early morning and sunrise, the light from the sun only barely shining through the clouds drifting leisurely in the sky and getting caught by the gossamer veils of morning mist before it could do much more. The air felt fresh and crisp, the slight breeze blowing not cold but not warm either, simply perfect. Everything was asleep; the village he was leaving behind, the people inside its houses, even nature itself -save for him and a few birds that sang to the upcoming sunrise. It was too early, even for the priest of Autumn who always seemed to be occupied with doing things, working his hours away either making things or helping people repair their own, never asking for something in return. And of course it came off as strange. Young as he was, leaving the village at this hour dragging the small cart full of various materials after him and a bag strapped on his back... he wouldn't blame someone for thinking he was running away if they were to see him.

However, Akio wasn't running away. On the contrary. A couple of days ago it so happened that he ventured out in the Hallow Forest with the sole objective of looking for strong and sturdy wood to help fixing a fence but he ended up running into something strange and unique, something he couldn't bring himself leaving alone. If he had to take a wild guess he'd say it was some sort of relic, it's origin and function unknown to him since most of it was rather... destroyed. Having no time as of the moment he mentally marked the place in his mind and promised to return to see if he could do something about it, a little curious maybe -though it might have been simply the urge to fix something broken instead- Akio wasn't really a curious person after all. And that was how he ended getting up this early, eager to return to that place.

Before entering the forest's protective shelter of green, the red-headed Constellation stopped for a moment and turned around to look at the distance he had just covered. His gaze fluttered away at all he could see embracing it closely to make it his. This was his home, his beautiful home, all of that breathtaking scenery... He sighed softly, for a moment almost more relaxed than he'd allow himself, and the idea of a smile curved his lips. No matter what would happen or how far out he would venture, he'd always have a place to return to.

Never speaking one word he turned around and quietly left, almost as if he were never there. After all, he had one place to reach and it wasn't all that far away. It took him approximately five minutes to make it to that clearing. He smiled in relief that the unfamiliar object was still lying there in its weary state as he placed his bag down by the cart he was carrying and approached it to start thinking of a repair plan. Having not seen such a thing before made it a little hard for him to take wild guesses... therefor he had to start small and then look at the larger picture -even if he were to fail miserably in the end. Deciding to work on the most obvious to him part at first he studied the gear-structured mechanism through the broken parts of the exterior shell and took to loosening the rusty gears to replace them with a few of his own.

This... was probably going to take a while...

"Ahhh..." Lemon sighed softly and stretched, rolling his neck and twisting around. Why did he have to wake up so early all the while? Damn mornings. Lemon almost never had nightmares, but he had vivid dreams which woke him right before he reached the best part. He found it extremely frustrating. Another one of those dreams had woken him maybe ten or fifteen minutes before, and he was leaning against his fence already. He needed parts, and he needed feathers still. The other day all he'd found was that blue one which belonged to the little Twilif. Maybe if he got a head start today, he'd find what he was looking for.

He went back inside to grab some diagrams of what he needed to make, and stuffed them inside his satchel, swinging the door shut. With a satisfying tug and snap, he pulled his goggles on and adjusted them so that they protected him adequately. All set. He didn't even notice that he was still in the loose pants he used to sleep in, some nights, and a rather thin undershirt. It was chilly, but he was already preoccupied with his plans for the day. The air was crisp, and the sun was beginning to show a little more as he made his way to the forest. Not a great deal; it was more like a slight blush, and Lemon found it either endearing or frustrating. The sun didn't seem able to commit to a type of weather.

He scoffed and adjusted his satchel with one hand, rolling his shoulder. He really should pad the strap so that it didn't dig in so much. At least he had recently reinforced it, so that the leather no longer stretched and drooped. It was comforting to know his bag wouldn't sag down to his knees if he filled it with exciting discoveries, like it used to. And, of course, his tools already weighed quite a bit; he never left home without them.

Walking towards the forest made his chest tight. He remembered leaving the musical contraption on Fu's steps, remembered tugging Fu by the hand out into a clearing. He missed Fu, which was an abnormal sensation for him. Lemon shook his head and pressed one hand against his temple, sighing. He was looking for feathers to make Fu's bird, anyway. No use thinking about Fu any more than he already was. He just kept on heading towards the forest, concentrating on diagrams and blueprints, rearranging things in his head. When he was nearly at the Hallow Forest, he spotted a Constellation some distance down the way. He looked familiar, but at that distance, Lemon really wasn't sure. Was it one of the priests?... Why would one of them be out at this hour? Ah, the more he thought about it, the less of a stretch it was. It became more like a priest was the obvious candidate for an early-morning foray into the woods.

Lemon hurried his steps until he was catching up gradually. Strange, the Constellation had turned to survey the land but didn't seem to see him. Maybe it was just not his focal point. Lemon shrugged and kept going. He jogged as soon as the constellation went into the forest, eager to catch up before he was lost, and was suddenly very aware and somehow grateful he was still in pajamas. The cool air helped him keep his pace, and stopped him from sweating too profusely. Lemon didn't much like to get sweaty. The sticky feeling when it cooled off made him uncomfortable. That was not to say he disliked hard work, but it was true that he often built smaller pieces and was better with precision work than large things. The real reason for that was he could design large, functioning creations, but he had no one to help him build them, so he stuck to the small things that he could do alone.

Lost in thought, Lemon stumbled right into the clearing, following the Constellation. Ah, he did recognize him. For a split second, he thought perhaps it was the priest Akio, the cute one with the blue eyes who he hadn't really met yet, but then he tripped over some debris and landed on his back, staring up at Akio. "You're removing the gears first? Some of those might be salvageable!" That was all Lemon could squeeze out, and it was the first thought that crossed his mind. His second thought was, "You really do have blue eyes." He winked, and sort of lay there for a little, trying to figure out what he was lying on and whether or not it had seriously hurt him.

Akio had been devoting himself to working on the gears while at the same time wondering on the side what good that would do him since he didn't know the first thing about the odd contraption. He tried to think ahead of his current task to what he could do later and apparently that kept his mind busy. Busy enough so he effectively failed to notice the other Constellation's presence close by until he somehow slipped and landed on the ground close by him. He was surprised, to say the least; surprised enough to quickly pull his hands away from the machine so he wouldn't mess up with it due to the momentary confusion caused by the other's appearance.

A moment later, as he managed to recover from his surprised state he blinked, trying to recall what the other reminded him of, he was certain he had seen him somewhere before even though his memory failed him. He sighed and thoughtfully pushed a stray strand of hair behind his ear as he debated replying.
"I am not very familiar with this kind of mechanism..." he said "To say the truth I do not know its primary use or the way it was made in order to function so I went with what felt more familiar at first." he paused to take a breath thinking of the other Constellation's statement a moment ago. "However, even if some gears were salvageable, were I to replace only the entirely non-functioning ones, wouldn't it lower its overall output capacity when put into motion?"

He momentarily questioned how in the world was the color of his eyes related with what he was doing in the other's mind, then again it might have been mere speculation.
"...i-it would appear I do..." he finally replied, slightly uncomfortable as he wasn't able to figure out if it was meant to be a compliment -and at the same rather embarrassed at the mere possibility of it being a compliment- or anything different. To him, the statement itself made no sense at all to say the truth. It felt like such a pointless remark to make, such as 'the sky is blue' or 'the grass is green'.

Deciding he was being rude and wondering where his manners went all of a sudden, he stood up and walked over to the fallen Constellation. He sighed softly and extended a hand in his direction to help him up if he required his assistance.
"Are you feeling well? I hope you didn't hurt yourself falling..." he spoke quietly, rather worried as he was fully aware that while he could certainly fix things, fixing people wasn't exactly his specialty at all.

Lemon didn't say anything, for a while. Instead of staring at the constellation, he was looking past him, at the gears. How could he approach it? His books and manuals weren't always clear on what to do in strange situations, but perhaps if he got closer, and got to work with it, he'd better understand what it needed. "Hm... I suppose you're right. About the gears, that is. I still think some of them could be removed and repaired! But why not start with gutting it, I guess. I hope you have a good memory." Lemon would often make a sketch of the parts before moving them, lest he forget where a tiny part was supposed to be replaced on a contraption he was unfamiliar with. Finally, Lemon took the outstretched hand, with a mumbled Thanks.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," Lemon continued to mumble, nodding to Akio. While he recognized the priest from the steps, Akio had never really spoken with him, and they had all been so busy at the time. "I am also, coincidentally, Lemon," he added, smiling sheepishly. When there was something to be fixed nearby, Lemon found himself a little rude and distracted. It was one of three things that would stop Lemon from flirting outrageously, which would probably save Akio a considerable amount of discomfort. "So what is this thing supposed to do, then? When did you start working on it?" Lemon clasped Akio on the shoulder briefly in greeting and then circled around it as best he could, touching the surface gently, testing for structural damage with his fingertips. He pulled his goggles on and peered closely at it, closing one eye, and then the other. Lemon kept making all kinds of curious sounds. It looked a little like he was trying to court it, the way he walked around it, observing and smiling and tentatively reaching out to test its surface a couple times.

"They really are extraordinary, by the way. The blue of your eyes is amazing. I saw you when... we were all on the steps, the priests and Azra'iel, Rosel, Kiru, Nessa... I was standing there." Lemon looked up at Akio, his brow furrowed; he was still thinking about the object that Akio had found, despite genuinely admiring Akio's eye-colour.

Akio followed Lemon's gaze back at the structure. He thought it was somewhat remarkable, to find someone who shared his interest in things such as that, for most people didn't care all that much as long as they worked and did what they were supposed to do. It was blasphemy, almost, to think everyone kept using all of those things that someone built without a single care in the world about them and their essence. Honestly, Akio found it infuriating! But his thought was getting off track, like it always seemed to do as of lately. Lost as he was in his own thoughts Lemon managed to jump him with his proposal. "W-Well!" he exclaimed."I, I suppose that's a certainly more effective way to get an understanding of its inner works, but-" always having second thoughts and doubts wasn't like him. He just thought it intimidating. "We should make sure we can remember everything correctly before putting it apart."

Akio took another couple moments to inspect the constellation and make sure that he was truly unharmed. When he was finally convinced he sighed in relief and let an idea of a smile light up his expression. "Thank god!"he exclaimed "It's just... I wouldn't know how to help you if you weren't..." he frowned. Sometimes he really thought his powers were good for nothing where people were concerned.

He chuckled softly at hearing the other's name. Lemon... like the fruit? Or was he named after something else?
"I'm Akio." he said, although he was almost certain that the other was at least aware of his name all along. Being the only priest of autumn can do a lot to your anonymity, mainly taking it away entirely. He quickly turned around and followed Lemon around in his 'tour' of the strange device. "I just found it a couple days ago, and I'm not really sure what it's meant to do... I've never happened upon something similar, and it doesn't look as if it was built recently either... The presence of gears indicates that it might was meant to move in some way, the only thing I can think of is a clock, or since its all the way out here, a device to observe the movement of stars. Though its possible that its primary function is completely beyond anything I can imagine." He took a brief pause, realizing he was saying too much, without even being sure about any of it. He turned his gaze upwards and looked at the contraption trying to understand better. No matter how many times he did the same things, he would always draw to a blank. He pushed a strand of hair behind his ear and sighed. Oh, well... it wasn't as if he could do anything about it. At least he had found someone to help him with it, maybe.

"W-W-What are you saying??" he blushed. For some reason the conversation about his eyes made him nervous. On the other hand maybe it wasn't all that bad, probably just the fact he didn't like to be complimented about things. But even so, it would be rude to completely dismiss the comment. "I-I've heard people say it's calming..." He wasn't sure about that himself. The words that followed that compliment cleared up his confusion about why the other looked familiar to him as well, however. It made sense. But to know that the other had noticed his eyes ever since then was somehow even more embarassing. "W-Well... I-I should get to work on this." he quickly changed the subject. "Y-You can help me if you want... You- you seem interested in it..." he added, pushing a strand of hair behind his ear in a motion fuelled by his subconscious mind that could indicate nervousness or could have been entirelly unrelated to his words all the same.

Lemon blinked at Akio, confused. "Well, of course we have to keep track of what goes where! You were the one taking things apart, though," he laughed. For once, he hadn't been the first one to tinker with some strange construction. That made him grin, and wink at Akio without really thinking about it.

"Why wouldn't I be alright?" Lemon laughed, again. "Do I look that fragile?" He shook his head and turned to look at the mysterious thing that Akio had found. What could it be used for? The shape mesmerized Lemon, and he couldn't help but wonder at all the gears. What made it run?

He was distracted again, briefly, by Akio chuckling and introducing himself. Lemon loved that he was even able to amuse the quiet Constellation, especially by something as simple as his name. Had Lemon known Akio's name? He couldn't remember when he had learned it, but he was pretty sure he'd heard it spoken now and again. If nothing else, that one glance of him Lemon had caught on the steps of the library was forever seared into his memory, as were the following events. He stopped fussing over the machine briefly, his fingers shaking just a little. He remembered the other priests, his friends. He hid his face away for a moment, and when he looked up again, he was smiling. Faintly, but it was there. "Akio, hmm? I think I may have heard that someplace." Lemon looked up at him, his own eyes glittering amber in what light filtered down through the trees. "A clock? Hmm... If it's meant to measure something... do you see the display? I wonder..." Lemon tilted his head, and circled the machine again. It didn't really look like it could move. Lemon ruffled his hair with his hand idly.

"What am I saying?... Oh! Calming? I'd say the blue of your eyes is refreshing, like the air after a storm," Lemon responded, his eyes glittering with mischief, "Then again, what would I know? I'm just an inventor. On the other hand, I would absolutely love to help you repair this, whatever it is." Lemon sighed, staring hard at the machine, his attention no longer fixed on Akio quite so intensely. It seemed like a strange place for a clock, not to mention an instrument to measure the stars, but the latter sounded more likely, at least. Lemon wondered if it had been moved there, perhaps in safekeeping or to hide it there? What if it was some kind of tribute, made in honour of some soul or another? Lemon rubbed the back of his neck and smiled at it wryly. Well, it certainly wouldn't be an easy task. The idea of a challenge thrilled him, though it also upset him that even with all his training and experimentation, he still couldn't figure out exactly what Akio's discovery was.

Akio paused, glancing over what he was doing briefly but remaining otherwise silent. He wasn't used to working like that. Building things came naturally from him, stemmed from the core of his existence, but in all honestly he hadn't stumbled across a thing as alien before so he had no idea about how to handle it. He sighed inaudibly and averted his gaze at Lemon's wink. "I suppose. I'm not normally curious but I'd like to see what this was meant for." he admitted, bringing a hand up to scratch his nose with its back lightly.

"Well... fragile is not exactly the word, I guess." he raised an eyebrow, back to his reserved demeanor and returned his attention to the contraption, after following Lemon's gaze to it. It went beyond his imagination, so poignantly pointless it were, seemingly having no use at all. But if it was so, then why would anyone erect it there. He doubted that it had always been there as well; despite it looking as old. If it were wouldn't others had stumbled across it before? Would he not have noticed it in passing through the woods he knew as well as the back of his hand? But even if someone had in fact placed it there, the reasoning behind the choice of location completely eluded him.

He was carefully removing yet another gear from the structure in order to undust it when Lemon had him peeking over at him. It was a surprise, as a reclusive odd person as he was, that someone managed not to recognize him on sight, not to mention after listening to his name. Even so it was somewhat of a welcome change, gave him less to worry about. At least for now he could be just 'Akio' if for nobody but this stranger. And just like that he felt a burden lift off his shoulder and he shook his head, shrugging just a little.
"Well... who knows..." his voice was perhaps a little more quiet than he had calculated, but even if it came off as a mumble Akio could always claim he was simply thinking about the machine instead of replying. "If it's not a clockwork then what are so many gears used for? It doesn't seem like any sort of rotary devise but even if it were that would be pointless..." he replied with a small shrug. Like it wasn't complicated enough already.

That being said he dropped his head again, a faint blush finding its way on his cheeks yet again. Why was it so embarrassing to be randomly complimented anyway? Made no sense. Was Lemon's words even compliments? He could see nothing refreshing about the colors of his eyes anyway.
"Refreshing, you say..." he shook his head a little. "I'm afraid you give the color of my eyes too much credit. It's just a pair of eyes, after all.. You're welcome to help me with this anyway... It would seem that for once I could use some." it almost seemed like a puzzle to him. And the only thing he could do was hope that it didn't lack any pieces by now.
