Nalira reached forward and took her plate, pulling it closer. She muttering a 'thanks' under her breath, fiddling with her fork thoughtfully. She took in a deep breath, looking up at Linneas slowly.
"Andrael was a close friend of mine. I stumbled across him and Chai when I snuck out -- uh, I mean, when I was out walking. I've never snuck out. " She added quickly, smiling sheepishly. "I haven't seen him in a while, though. The last time I spoke to him, his father has just been murdered. He was cut with a blade, I think." She took a large mouthful of pie, shifting uncomfortably in her seat. She mentally thanked Linneas for cutting the pie into smaller pieces. It did, afterall, make it a lot easier to eat.

Linneas stopped mid-chew at hearing how Andrael's father had been killed. Was the Tale alright? What had happened to them? He also couldn't help but notice how calm Nalira was in all this.
"Is he alright now? Where is he staying?"

Nalira shrugged, fiddling with her fork absent mindedly. She let out a sigh, letting her fork slip from her fingers, cradling her stomach painfully. She closed her eyes suddenly, making a face. She shifted uncomfortably, running a hand through her hair.
"Look, I'm not really all that hungry. Would you like me to help pay? Forget it, I will regardless." She mumbled, thrusting her hand into her pocket and digging around for change. She pulled out a few crumpled notes and loose change, smiling weakly.

Oh just wonderful you made her uncomfortable, he chided himself. Gently, but firmly he pressed the money back into Nalira's palms. "No, keep it. I'd rather just talk, sorry if I asked inappropriate things..." he sighed, he didn't seem to have much in the common sense department, did he?

Nalira blinked, shaking her head. "Atleast let me split the cheque? I won't be able to sleep tonight knowing you had to pay for it all." She insisted, pushing the money forward again, pushing her bottom lip out to form a pout. She had always hated people paying for her.

The teen sighed, feeling the awkwardness of the situation increase ten fold. He always believed if he could pay for both of them then he would. How will he convince Nalira otherwise?
'You could just humor her somewhat. Give a smaller ammount than what the check says.' Lynn suggested in mild annoyance at Linneas' inability to think.
As devious as it sounded, Linneas had to agree. "Alright, I suppose you can pay half." Of a fourth. he added silently.
