 Well, they'd done it. They'd left his father's mad little pack known as the Monarchy, at long last. It had been a hectic time, slipping out without Salano and Syoto knowing. Aquamarine, his mother, had known, but she'd given both boys her blessing before they'd slipped away. Their place hadn't been the Monarchy, and Siddhartha was thinking privately of starting up a new pack on an entirely different system. Well, only time would tell if that was a feasible plan.
He stretched, stepping out of the little thicket where he and Naiosalas had spent the night after getting out of Syoto's territory. Free. At long last. Siddhartha smiled in his serene manner. The sun was rising, and it was beautiful and full of hope. He nudged his dearest, oldest, and only friend to wake him up. "Naio. Wake up. It's morning, and it's beautiful."

 The carnival-coloured dragon's dreams were pleasant that night, for once not at all interrupted by the real or imagined sound of his 'sister's incessant whining. A faint smile lingered on his face, body curled up in the brush, the tip of his tail tapping gently and happily against the ground as his dreams traveled from thoughts of the journey ahead, to thoughts of simply finding a new place to settle and stay, all of which were appealing ideas to him.
When the male was nudged, he stirred only slightly, displeased at the idea of being roused from his dreams, but it was just this that brought him to the realm of the living, stirred him from the dreams he was having so much fun with. Smacking his lips, the sleepy dragon looked up and smiled softly at Siddhartha with his blue eyes, gently lifting himself off the ground and shaking his body, from nose to tail tip, both waking himself and getting rid of a few stray leaves and creatures who'd made their homes in his fur.
Those eyes looked out toward the sunrise and caused a smile to sprout on his face as he retook a seat, moving his body into the most relaxed position he could find that didn't involve laying or leaning on his 'brother'. The young male smiled and nodded at the concept of how beautiful the horizon appeared. Their first day alone. His first day without a father to take care of him, a sister to annoy him. A first day to strike onward and into the world with the one person who meant so much to him. Finally.

Siddhartha smiled. "Did you sleep well, Naio?" he asked. It was a silly question, as he and Naiosalas had been awoken by Salano's shenanigans every day of their life until they'd left. And now...no more Salano. Siddhartha's normally gentle smiled waxed beatific. He looked around after a few moments, trying to figure out which way to go. Toward the roots of the mountains seemed a good option.
He padded around the thicket until he could see west, and the view, given that they'd spent the night above a canyon on a shelf with a spectacular view stretching many, many miles as the crow flies into the distance, revealed a world he and Naio had never dreamed of. It held a body of water as far as the eye could see, sparkling shyly in the dawn light. There was a broad, well-trod switchback trail leading down into the canyon. "Ready to go?" he asked, certain of which way they should go.
